It was fun getting a look into Gwen's story in this volume. The pacing was super off, though. I don't know if it's that there is a different best place to start than vol 0, or if the pacing was just wonky. That's actually one of the reasons I don't always enjoy superhero comics.#Comic #Superhero

I borrowed this after watching Into the Spider-Verse and quite liked it (also yay cameo by Spider-Ham 🐷). Will certainly read more!

It's really fun that Matt Murdock (Daredevil) is a villain in this universe. Gwen struggles to balance playing drums in her band with being a super hero hunted by the cops.

Spider Gwen, who you may know from the animated Into the Spider-verse film, is Gwen Stacy. On this alternate earth, she is bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker. This comic is crazy fun and inventive, illustrated in exuberant neon colors.

rabbitprincess This is waiting for me at the library! I requested it after watching the Spider-Verse movie 😊 3y

I have literally never read a comic OR a graphic novel before. It's definitely not my style, but it was fun!

Does anyone read comics or graphic novels in addition to books? I find them to be such quick reads. I‘m starting this saga today. After seeing Into the Spiderverse, I wanted to know more about Spider Gwen and her stories. Plus I‘m obsessed with the art by Robbi Rodriguez

My first completed read of 2019! I really enjoyed it! Spider-Gwen was a fun, intriguing character to read about. I found her to be extremely likeable. This leaves me wanting to read more of her adventures. I hope to also see her more in future Spider-verse movies.

I got this book ages ago when I visited my old home in Russia and never finished, but I'm picking it back up again. While I'm usually a very fast reader, I'm quite slow when it comes to Russian but practice can't hurt!

@TK421 Thank you so much for everything! Spider-Gwen and Monstress are both ones that I‘ve wanted to read for a while, and Marvel 1602 looks amazing! Historical superheroes and Neil Gaiman? You can‘t go wrong there. I can‘t wait to get into these! 😊📚🎉

@JenlovesJT47 thanks again for setting this up! It was such a fun swap, and I look forward to participating again in the future! 😁

TK421 Yay! I'm glad you like it! Monstress and Spider-Gwen are both really good, and1602 is one of my favorite Marvel comics ever. Enjoy! 6y

It's not terrible comics at all, but I think I would have liked this even more if it didn't have so many references to aspects of the Spider-Verse that are unfamiliar to me. Spider-Gwen is a great character, mouthy and misunderstood. In this universe, it was she, not Peter Parker, who was bitten by the radioactive spider. I didn't laugh out loud, but I did chuckle often, so I will seek out further adventures of Spider-Gwen.

queerbookreader This volume is a little confusing but the next one will make a whooooole lot more sense, I promise. She teams up with Silk and Spider Woman in this one!! 7y

My #favoritefandom is Marvel Comics (Actually, my favorite fandom is Buffy, but Marvel is a close second. I've already posted twice about Buffy in this photo challenge, so we'll just go with Spider-Gwen up there). Especially now that they have made an effort to introduce more diverse characters. I'm currently catching up on one of my new favorites, Spider-Gwen. #OctPhotoChallenge

Very good, but I can't tell if I'm missing out on a lot of context because previous events were covered in other comics, or if this is just one of those "the very beginning where we meet our superhero who is dealing with hella PTSD from her past" hence why there are so many discussions about shit that's already happened. Idk. I'm a little confused. But it's good and she has a bomb ass outfit so I'm onto the next one ??

Chessa I started this one and felt like I was missing too much to really get it. 😕 8y
Carol I haven't started Spider Gwen yet so I can't clear up any confusion with the plot. However I can say sometimes Marvel will release a volume 0 after others in the series are out. Maybe after you read volume 1 it will all make sense? 8y
maximoffs Yes! What @carol said. Marvel typically releases volume 0 after the others are out. 8y
queerbookreader @Carol @steverogers Oh, really? 😳 But it says that volume 0 was released in 2015, and volume 1 was released this year 8y

Oooooookay. Let's try this one. I don't really know what "volume 0" means but hey I'll play along and read this one before vol1. I have high hopes for Spider Gwen, I hope it's good ?

Great illustrations, great colour, great style. Spider Gwen was a lot of fun to read. Despite its sloppy editing, it's totally worth your time.

Finally got around to finishing Vol. 0 of Spider Gwen! I'm not sure how much I like it. It's enjoyable but it's missing something, definitely want to read Vol. 1 since I think the storyline will improve after the event arc.

Really enjoyed Spider-Gwen! It was funny, witty, action-packed but also incredibly grounded. In a story where Gwen Stacey was the one bitten by the radio active spider instead of Peter Parker, Gwen is one hell of a superhero! Great place to start her story too 😊
