The MC drove me nuts! She gets a chance to do the past year over again and she decides to change herself completely and stop being outspoken. Also her family is awful.

I think it‘s the point of the book for her to realize she didn‘t need to change herself for a guy, but it was so frustrating to read.

If you like Hallmark holiday movies, then you will like this one. Second chance romance with time traveling to Sadie‘s past with a touch of magic. It was fun but I‘m impressed that it has a high rating in GR🤷🏽‍♀️I think it was cute but okay, nothing extraordinary. My Grinch heart again...here....present 💚 😂but I accept was a cute romance ☺️ 3/3.5⭐️

I was not expecting to love The Second Chance Year like I did. Sadie has a rough year, happens upon a fortune teller at a NYE party and gets a do over. As you can expect her do over didn‘t go as planned. It really focused more on Sadie finding her true self again and realizing she didn‘t have to change herself for anyone. Loved the message that this book puts out into the world.

✨ december ✨

i had five five-star reads in december last year:

-the magician‘s nephew
-the second chance year
-the horse and his boy
-prince caspian
-the voyage of the dawn treader

and the second chance year was my (non-reread) favorite of the five.

Other than repeating the phrase ‘my very bad year‘ about 100 times too often, this was a fun NYC HEA read. The do-over year trope pulls me in every time. There‘s just so many versions of it and I have fun reading what might make each one just a little bit unique. ↓

marleed My son is a hired videographer paid to hang out at Times Square in the week between Christmas in New Year. He has one free day each year. I told him about Strand (non novel reader that he is) and he walked over. He said it was crowded, a definite destination place, had fun seeing it, and everything else along the walk. And I received swag! 4mo

marleed @julesG Lucky Me! When he went to Paris, I told him about Shakespeare and Co. He happened by it when visiting Notre Dame Cathedral and had his party exit right to stop inside. It ended up being one of his Paris highlights! 4mo

What a sweet, fun and magical holiday read!! Sadie has had a Very Terrible Year— & now she‘s underemployed, living with her brother‘s best friend & trying to limit online snooping of her ex-boyfriend. At a New Year‘s Eve party, she makes a wish and wakes up on January 1st… to the year just past! With a chance at a do-over, Sadie gets to try to make it a great year… but at what cost? Funny, emotional and with just the right touch of holiday magic!
