I don‘t know if you all know this, but in Denmark you get paid to study. That‘s right, from your 18th birthday, you get paid monthly to study (when you are actually enrolled in some form of education). The hope is students will be busy studying, not #busyearning enough money for food and rent. Although, I‘m still busy earning enough to satisfy my book addiction. You gotta keep those shelves looking fresh! 💸💸

Jabberwocky That‘s amazing. What a good incentive to keep people studying/ make it easier to get the most out of your education!! 7y
TrishB Education as it should be.... 7y
LiteraryinPA What a great policy! 7y

Reviewsbylola That‘s awesome! 7y
Weaponxgirl That's amazing and a genuinely great way to help poorer students keep up with their richer peers as they don't end up time poor instead 7y
Christine11 That‘s fantastic! 7y
RebelReader That‘s wonderful! I wish the USA would adopt some more international policies 7y
Jess7 Ohh cool! That‘s interesting! #themoreyouknow 7y
Martta Same in Finland. Is there any school fees in Danish Universities? 7y
emilyhaldi Fab!!! 💰👌🏻👏🏻 7y
DivineDiana Sounds like Denmark and Finland value education! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 7y
laurieluna Wow. I need to move there for my kids sake. 😩 England sucks. I do have to say though, I always love your shelfies. I have #shelfenvy 7y
Kalalalatja @Martta not for state approved educations/schools, which most of them are, so I would say no. How about in Finland? 7y
Kalalalatja @Jabberwocky @TrishB @LiteraryinLititz @Reviewsbylola @Weaponxgirl @Christine11 @RebelReader @Jess7 @emilyhaldi @DivineDiana @miralunasbooknook it really is great! It isn‘t a perfect system, but it does make it possible for most students to make it through their study time with little or no student debt, plus it gives room to focus more on study problems instead of money problems. I really can‘t complain! 7y
LibrarianToujours Sounds so wonderful. I worked full time (USA, so 40 hrs/week) while getting my Masters degree and I‘m still paying the debt from it 9 years later 🙄😡. 7y
Mdargusch Wow! 💰💰💰 nice perk? 7y
Martta Our schools are free. There are some special courses that cost money but they are rare. 7y
Kalalalatja @NHLibrarian that makes no sense to me! I really feel priviliged to be able study full time, and only work part time, because I choose to do so, instead of having to do so. @Mdargusch well, it‘s not like I‘m rich or anything, but it does cover most of my monthly expenses 👍 @Martta that‘s how it is here as well 👍 7y
SauerPatch I am drooling over your bookshelves! 😍🤤 7y
ephemeralwaltz That is such a great incentive for young students. I‘ve heard that from northern European countries and I am so jealous! Why is the economy in Spain sooooo bad? 😭 it‘s hard enough to find time to work while studying full-time. Your shelves are so gorgeous!!😍😍 7y
stacybmartin Your bookshelves are gorgeous!! 😍 7y
erzascarletbookgasm How awesome. I want to move to Denmark. For my children‘s sake. 😁 7y
batsy I agree with @TrishB that's definitely how education should be. From where I am, Denmark is looking amazing for having these policies 👌🏽I can't get over how in so many parts of the world it's just about treating students (and patients) as customers and competitors with no safety net. (And your shelves are amazing 😍😁) 7y
Kalalalatja @SauerPatch @stacybmartin thanks you two! ☺️ @ephemeralwaltz @erzascarletbookgasm well, we do pay a lot in taxes to be able to have a society like this, but I wouldn‘t want it any other way! @batsy I agree! That‘s definitely not the feeling you get as a student (or patient) in Denmark, but it does affect the quality of the educations or health services provided at times, if certain areas don‘t get enough state funding. But mostly, it‘s great! 7y
Becker Your book shelf makes me happy 😃 7y
ferskner I wish I could love this 1 billion times. 7y
