The Untethered Soul (EasyRead Edition)
The Untethered Soul (EasyRead Edition) | Michael A. Singer
The chapters of this book are nothing but mirrors for seeing your ''self'' from different angles. And though the journey we are about to embark on is an inner one, it will draw upon every aspect of your life. The only requirement asked of you is the willingness to honestly look at yourself in the most natural, intuitive manner. Remember, if we are seeking the root of ''self,'' what we are actually seeking is you. As you read through these pages, you will find that you know much more than you thought you did about some very deep subjects. The fact is, you already know how to find yourself; you have just gotten distracted and disoriented. Once refocused, you will realize that you not only have the ability to find yourself, you have the ability to free yourself. Whether you choose to do so or not is entirely up to you. But upon completion of your journey through these chapters, there will be no more confusion, no more lack of empowerment, and no more blaming others. You will know exactly what must be done. And should you choose to devote yourself to the ongoing journey of self-realization, you will develop a tremendous sense of respect for who you really are. It is only then that you will come to appreciate the full depth of meaning in the advice: ''This above all: to thine own self be true.'' ---- Introduction

Book 104🎧
Easy listen, filled with great information on how to let go and focus on your inner happiness💛

Now when I feel that first little prick in my stomach, I stop… and try to let it go🌬

Some parts focus on God/Christ specifically but there is valuable information religion aside, I think anyways!

There were parts of this that really clicked with me; I felt them and knew them. Then there were parts that felt like I was being told ‘if you only do this, life will be simple, it‘s not complicated‘ - in a repetitious format. A great read if you‘re looking for more awareness of how to not let things bother you etc. 👇

youneverarrived However, I think even if I‘d read this in my 20s I wouldn‘t have been able to take on board fully what it says - I learned a lot of this from life experience/relationships/maturity. - using for something about overcoming #nonfiction2021 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (edited) 4y

This was a demanding audio. I had to rewind a few times, for the solution to simplify Life needs attention and brain rewiring 🤯 I felt it was very self relevant, for as a Libra ♎️ I live upstairs in my head, with my swords, to often. I enjoyed the many examples. From mental/emotionnal mess, to awareness & consciousness, through “Who am I? & Who is it that is noticing this?” Really happy to have received his teachings 🧠💚 #SummerBookSpinBingo2020

1book.today Oh my goodness! Loved that book! Also saw in your calendar The Courage To Be Disliked. Just finished that one!! So good!! What did you think of that one? 4y

I liked this better than The Power of Now, and some chapters did really stick with me and get me thinking. But ultimately I had of the same challenges with it—it felt a bit preachy and didn‘t acknowledge things like mental illness and trauma that can make the “simple choice to be happy no matter what” more complicated. Plus it got very Christian in the last chapter, which is fine, but felt weird since the rest of the book was nondenominational.

Everybody should read that book because we are all trying to avoid pain. The practice of this book might seem difficult, but it truly resonates with me. If you spend a lot of time in your mind like myself, this book will give you a new perspective on how to deal with incessant thoughts. Instead of fighting with them.

Finally finished! I did enjoy every chapter, except I think I started to get skeptical about where he was taking me toward the end. I have to say that although I appreciate his understanding of God, it bothered me that he did not address the problem of evil or how we deal with the issue of morality. I guess this was on my mind bc I have lately been so disturbed by the evil powers in this world...for that, I bumped the book to 4 stars out of 5.

"Wise beings do not want to remain a slave to the fear of pain [feelings of frustration, anger, fear, jealousy, insecurity, or embarrassment]. They permit the world to be what it is instead of being afraid of it. They wholeheartedly participate in life, but not for the purpose of using life to avoid themselves. If life does something that causes a disturbance inside of you, instead of pulling away, let it pass through you like the wind."

Reader24601 That's wonderful! Just stay open whatever you feel or think when you read it. It can really change your life! I'm studying to become a social worker and this is going to be very useful for me not just in practice but also in my personal life as well. 7y

While eating my breakfast, one of the furkids walked through my power cord, and my laptop dropped to the hard floor from the kitchen table. Surprisingly, I was able to remain calm and not let my anger out on my pets thanks to what I have been practicing from this book. I was worried my computer would not turn on, but it did. I will use this opportunity to have it inspected and get all my files backed up in case anything happens in the future!

Every day we bear a burden...We fear that we are not good enough or that we will fail. We experience insecurity, anxiety, and self-consciousness. We fear that people will turn on us, take advantage of us, or stop loving us...as we try to succeed and express ourselves,...we carry...the fear of experiencing pain, anguish, or sorrow. Every day we are either feeling it, or we are protecting ourselves from feeling it. [This influences us to our core.]

Eventually you will want out, at any cost. You will then realize that life is actually trying to help you. Life is surrounding you with people and situations that stimulate growth...You only have to be willing to open your heart in the face of anything and everything, and permit the purification process to take place.

PurpleyPumpkin Welcome to Litsy! I hope you enjoy it here. Btw, I loved this book. You‘ve reminded me that I have his next one on my tbr. Maybe I‘ll get to it in 2018. 🤔 7y

I have been recommended this book, because I am at times in my own head a lot listening to the chatter of my brain... This book explains the how and why and gives some good advice on how to move beyond this and not waste your energy on it. I think that the message could have been more condensed in some areas, but overall it was good listening to it.

This was my read a chapter first thing in the morning book. I particularly liked the section on experiencing energy- explained a lot for me.

Reader24601 Every chapter has literally blown me away with its simple explanations and deep insight into human experience. I wish I read this years ago... but then again I may not have been receptive to its message then! 7y

This is a must read for anyone that wants to take a more spiritual path to improving themselves. As the title suggests, the book is meant to strengthen your soul. While almost every self help book I've read has had amazing techniques, I was significantly more impacted by the teachings of this book.

Reader24601 Same here! Before I picked this book up, I was looking at at least half a dozen books on different topics I wanted to learn about or improve on. Seriously, this book covered all my bases! 7y
