If you think your family relationships are complicated, think again: you haven't seen anything like the ones in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Sookie Stackhouse is dealing with a whole host of family problems, ranging from her own kin (a non-human fairy and a telepathic second cousin) demanding a place in her life, to her lover Eric's vampire sire, an ancient being, who arrives with Eric's 'brother' in tow at a most inopportune moment. And Sookie's tracking down a distant relation of her ailing neighbour (and ex), Vampire Bill Compton. In addition to the multitude of family issues complicating her life, the werewolf pack of Shreveport has asked Sookie for a special favour, and since Sookie is an obliging young woman, she agrees. But this favour for the wolves has dire results for Sookie, who is still recovering from the trauma of her abduction during the Fairy War.Read by Johanna Parker

#doublespin done! Now I can finally fill out my form 😅 this fell a bit flat for me… I feel like the plot is a bit too convoluted in this series… But I‘ve come this far, so will finish it!

Listened to this one on Libby instead of hoopla. I like them on hoopla better. This one kept interrupting the story saying “end of tape 1, see tape 2, etc.”

In this one Eric‘s maker shows up, Sookie finds a dead body on her land, and her cousin Claude moves in. A lot more happens too.

My guilty pleasure. There's been a lot going on and I needed something light and entertaining to get my mind off the insanity so it was time to revisit this series. Vampires, shapeshifters, fairies, demons with some romance, mystery, and intrigue thrown in. Book 10 in the Sookie Stackhouse series is just as insane and entertaining as the first 9 books. Serious literature it is not, but it sure is creative, entertaining and silly.

Finished this one with a sleepy-twitchy kitty on my lap.

I didn‘t remember much of this, but I think in my first read I got partway into the next book before stalling out.

More machinations - vampire, Were, shifter, fairy, and human. Sookie is in the middle of it all, as usual. Good enough, though I‘m losing steam on the series.

#SeriesRead2021 @TheSpineView almost forgot!

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yes....I read the whole series, and it‘s one that really went downhill (at least for me) as it went further along...at the time I thought she got too wrapped up in what HBO was doing with the series & characters and it felt like that fandom/expectation stifled her later books. So it‘s interesting to see people reading it now, and sensing a shift too. (edited) 4y
ravenlee @Riveted_Reader_Melissa there‘s definitely a downswing going on. These last few books have felt less plot-driven and more “dire threat/sexy times/who‘s lusting after Sookie today.” But I‘ve been less enamored of the series as a whole this time around. 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @ravenlee It‘s sad to hear, but I‘m not surprised. I remember that feeling, and I‘d hope years later it‘d feel different reading it... but I haven‘t had the courage to retry it. So go you! 4y

ravenlee @Riveted_Reader_Melissa thanks! Admittedly, the reread was inspired less by actually wanting to revisit/finish the series, and more because I suspected how I‘d feel rereading it and anticipating having half a shelf cleared out when I‘m done. 😆 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @ravenlee I understand that! I recently cleared off my Laurel Hamilton, Anita Blake shelf. At this point I‘m done with the series, and I don‘t think I‘ll be rereading them....even if I‘m tempted to try one of the newer ones, if she ever wraps up that series, I‘ll get them from the library and not buy them. (edited) 4y
TheSpineView I hate when a series starts to go flat. That's a bummer! 😊 4y

Well. Isn‘t this a fun break in format? We haven‘t gotten any timeline like this before in this series.

Really beginning to like the idea of Sookie and Eric being a couple. And we have more of Hunter 😊

#Oliver decided that cuddling me might help. As he is kind of a jerk by nature (but a cute jerk and I love him), the cuddles were a nice surprise. ❤️🐱 #gingercat #kittenlitten #littenkitten #catsoflitsy #sickday

MarriedtoMrT Someone me used the hashtag #gingerbrat and I thought that describes my ginger cat perfectly! Sounds like it might fit for yours, too! 😉 7y

When I think #supernatural I think of Sookie and the gang. #sizzlinsummerbooks

TheBookStacker I was obsessed with these books! I read them all and watched the entire show! 7y
Crystalblu I miss getting a new Sookie book every summer! 7y
LeslieO @TheBookStacker @Crystalblu Have you tried the books or TV show Midnight Crossing? I couldn't get into the book. Maybe I'll try again. Haven't tried the show yet. 7y
Crystalblu I watched the show last night! It was alright, kind of True Blood light. 7y

Ahh, the days when I had one in diapers and another in utero, I was either reading my friends' post-grad papers for editing or the books recommended by fellow seminary spouses...which were obviously paranormal romance! 😆 Yes, I actually bought these. Yes, I have more. 😳

#inthemoodforlove #seasonsreadings2016

Joybishoptx I bought them too! 8y
saresmoore @Joybishoptx So glad to know I'm not alone! 😊 8y
Kalalalatja I have read nearly all of them, they were my guilty pleasure at one point 😄 8y

mrsthilkey I read that whole series. Loved it, so fun! 8y
ReadingSusan I love those books! 8y
saresmoore @Kalalalatja Definitely a guilty pleasure, which is why I found it hilarious that I was reading them with a bunch of Christian academics! 8y
saresmoore @mrsthilkey @ReadingSusan I loved the books, but HBO's True Blood was wayyyyy too much for me! 8y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Omg, those books were bibliocrack!! Lol...I was hooked and ingested them up to book 10, then something fell apart, somehow. 8y
saresmoore @JanuarieTimewalker13 I quit at book 10, too. I didn't even know there were more until just now! Ha! Probably shouldn't dive back in... 8y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @saresmoore I'm pretty sure there were 13. I did enjoy A Touch of Dead, the short stories. I retained that book and I think books 9&10, but passed on my 8 book box set to a friend bc she's the one who told me about TrueBlood and encouraged me to see it. 8y
ReadingSusan @saresmoore me too. I only watched a few episodes before I was like nope! 8y
LauraBrook I loved this whole series (yes, all the books), and the TV series too! I've read every series she's written except for 2, and finally got my hands on one of her early stand-alone books. ❤️Harris! 8y
saresmoore @LauraBrook I'm definitely intrigued to check out her other series. Do you recommend anything in particular? 8y
mrsthilkey I loved both the books and the TV show, but they are very different from one another for sure! 8y
LauraBrook @saresmoore I think her Midnight, Texas series is a good bet. Only 3 books long, and some familiar faces pop up if you've read some of her other stuff. Plus, it's going to be a TV series soon! 8y
saresmoore @LauraBrook Perfect. Thank you! 8y
