This is definitely my favorite sourdough cookbook. I mixed up the dough for these overnight baguette twists yesterday afternoon, shaped them early this morning, and baked them before leaving for church. The recipe is simple and delicious!

Deblovestoread I‘ve just started my sourdough journey. Baked my 3rd loaf yesterday. There is so much conflicting info out there so maybe this book would help that. And your loaves look fantastic! 3d
Karisa Oh wow! Looks so yummy! Lucky people in your life! 😊 3d

Daisey @Deblovestoread There is a lot of conflicting info, but this book is less complicated than many. I‘ve had my sourdough for 30 years now and am still learning different methods. The main thing I like to remember is that it has been used for hundreds of years. It doesn‘t always work perfectly, but it also doesn‘t have to be that complicated. 3d
mabell Those look fabulous! 2d
Tamra @Daisey it‘s now warm enough in the house consistently to make a starter. I am going to order this book. 😁 2d

Got this book at Bob‘s Red Mill in Milwaukie, OR, just south of Portland, OR on vacation. So cool to see the headquarters in person! They have all kinds of Bob‘s Red Mill products at my grocery store in the natural food section. There are 31 recipes I want to try making in here. No pictures of recipes, though. I want to see how it‘s supposed to turn out!

Yesterday I made the jalapeño cheddar sourdough from the tagged cookbook. I shaped one larger loaf and a few of these small rolls as well. The combination made for an amazing sausage and egg breakfast sandwich along with the chipotle mayo I made as well.

Whole wheat cheddar scallion rolls are fresh out of the oven. I planted the root ends of the onions outside to grow from scraps.

Who are my fellow bakers here? Comment below! I‘ve been using KA flours ever since I started cooking. Their products are high quality, their recipes wonderful. I‘m trying to do healthier baking and found this copy on eBay for very cheap; I didn‘t realize it was autographed! I have never taken a class and there is so much I don‘t know. I have always wanted to visit the KAF store in Vermont. I can‘t wait to make the hummus bread and cheddar⬇️

I‘ve seen several recipes for chocolate #sourdough and always thought it sounded strange, yet it also made me curious as well. With another snow day yesterday, I decided to try the chocolate focaccia in this #cookbook. The recipe said to bake in a large cast iron skillet. I made a large and small, but I think it would look more focaccia like if I‘d made two large. It‘s perfect with a smear of Nutella and a morning cup of coffee.

mabell Wow that‘s cool! I haven‘t been successful with sourdough yet. This sounds like it would make very yummy toast! 3mo
Daisey @jenniferw88 @Tamra @BethM Thanks! Yes, it‘s delicious and does taste like chocolate. It‘s fascinating because it has the chewiness of sourdough with only 1 tbs. honey for sweetener, approximately 1/4 cup cocoa, and chocolate chips. I‘ve been making sourdough a long time, but this was definitely something new! 3mo
Tamra @Daisey I wanted to make some starter, but I think during the winter our house temp isn‘t ideal. 68-70/71. 3mo
Daisey @mabell It‘s delicious! I‘ve been making sourdough a long time, and it can definitely have its quirks. If you‘re looking, this cookbook is great and the author‘s blog the Clever Carrot has some sourdough resources as well. 3mo
Daisey @Tamra I probably would recommend getting started with sourdough when it‘s warmer, but it just takes more patience with cooler temperatures. My house is never above 70 in the winter. 3mo
Tamra @Daisey I think I‘ll wait until late spring. After I get it going I know it won‘t be a problem. 3mo

First up for #Mtcookbook 🏔️

This book was a surprise. I didn‘t expect to like it as much as I do. I love the variety of breads and how it‘s laid out - user friendly!

P.S. My Cuisinart bit the dust in under two years, whereas my former machine lived to serve for probably a decade or more. 😒 I scored a brand spanking new Hamilton for $20 at a thrift store. I don‘t have to make many loaves for it to pay for itself even if it craps out.

mabell Finding a bread machine secondhand is definitely the way to go! And they seem to show up in the shops pretty often 😄 4mo
Tamra @mabell for sure! I really don‘t enjoy commercial bread, so it‘s worth it. 4mo
mabell I have said that exact quote!! 4mo

janeycanuck Oh, I think I had this book when I had my bread maker! Is there a buttermilk whole wheat & honey loaf in there? 3mo
Tamra @janeycanuck I don‘t see that one, but buttermilk would be good in any of the whole wheat recipes! 3mo
janeycanuck @Tamra oh, maybe I had a different one. The format looks so familiar, though!! How was the bread? 3mo
