Hard to believe I went this long in life without reading this gem. Such beautiful descriptions of nature, and a heartwarming tale that made me miss my grandparents. So glad I read it and so glad I purchased the book.

I finally read this gem for the first time and loved it! 🙌🏻 I also watched the film version (on VHS!) with my Mom. Of course, the book is so much better, but the movie is perfectly cast with Shirley Temple as Heidi & it‘s quite amusing too. What a heartwarming adventure!
P.S. Count me in when we all move to the mountains and tend our goats!🐐

pickI enjoyed this book. I'm a little tempted to move to a Swiss village with the smell of fresh air, surrounded by flowers and goats and no technology. I'll be daydreaming about that while I'm stuck in front of my computer for too many hours tomorrow. #childrensclassicread2024 @TheBookHippie
Took a mental health day on Friday and decided to read this book over my long weekend. This book has been on my kids' lit bookshelf for years, but I never read it. Watched the Shirley Temple movie a million times as a kid though. #ChildrensClassicRead2024

Story time. Yesterday I was looking for my copies of Heidi. I knew I had a few and I came across the one that my brother-in-law gave me after my sister died, I knew it had belonged to my grandmother. Well, I open it up and found a note she had written to my grandmother when she was around eight which means I was about five. I can‘t believe I have this. 🩷

Our own little Rapunzel ??
Tangled is her new favourite (along with Encanto, of course), so she was THRILLED with her hair today. This was after a 2 hour dog walk in the wind and rain and wanted a picture of her "princess punzel hair" ??
so-soReread of this series continues, alas, this one is slightly horrifying, which takes away from the charm. Obviously taunting/rudeness to one's elders and not bringing a gift for a host are emphatically discouraged, but the whole tail dismemberment and mention of possible skinning are a bridge too far for a children's book in my eyes. 😬 Pity, because there are some lovely illustrations of squirrels and harvest season.
Squirrel babies are peaking out now. I make up that the Beatrix Potter stories are taking place in our backyard to grand baby hippie........ We've seen Peter Rabbit, Old Brown owl and Squirrel Nutkin today.......
