I really enjoyed this book. It was funny and lighthearted, but also surprisingly thoughtful and reflective. The setting at a destination wedding, and the characterization of the group of guests as “the wedding people”, will ring true in a fun, humorous way for anyone who has been to an over-the-top wedding weekend.

LoverOfLearning Speaking of over-the-top wedding weekend. My cousin got married to this girl. Didn't really like her but I was in the wedding party regardless. By the end of the night, I completely removed her from all social medial and blocked her from texting me. She's not a nice person. LOL. Been years and still was a great decision. I have to protect my own peace and eliminate the drama. Sorry not sorry. HAHA 11h

These books always feel like coming home.
I've always loved books with doors and quests. And McGuire gives me a place to go each year that fills the door-shape hole in me that needs filling.
Somehow I've missed this one last year, so I have two doors to go through this year.
I love how each book continues on the previous books, but always have their own adventures in new unknowns.

3½✨

This is a typical Hero's journey with all the usual tropes you'd expect. Nothing earth shattering or different. Still I enjoyed visiting the world of Alagaësia and getting to meet all the characters. I'm intrigued to see where the series will take me.
I have my suspicions and would like to confirm them.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! I wasn't a huge fan of this series, but I seem to be in the minority 😂 6d
Enchanted_Bibliophile @TheAromaofBooks I thought I'd give it another book or 2 before I cast my final vote 😉, but I can see why people don't like it. It's a lot of work with not that much satisfaction. 6d
TheAromaofBooks It weirdly felt like I was reading nonfiction the whole time, except for a fictional place haha 5d
Enchanted_Bibliophile @TheAromaofBooks Yes! You're right. I started Assassin's Appreciate last night and the flow is totally different. Eragon feels choppy, like everything was written and rewritten to make it sound good, using unnecessarily complicated words instead of just telling the story. 5d

Mehso-so

I am a big Magnus fan and I've been waiting for this Malec story for what feels like forever. But I was disappointed with the plot, it just didn't feel believable and it was so predictable.
I did enjoy the characters showing a different side than usual, Magnus being vulnerable and Alec growing into his confidence with their relationship
