Long, but very well written, with well-developed characters and relationships that have depth. But the ending…ugh… frustrating. Thanks to the always-fun #HashtagBrigade for giving me the impetus to keep reading!

Bookwormjillk My son had this as a choice for summer reading. I am trying to talk him out of it. 6h
julieclair @Bookwormjillk Keep trying. Surely there are more satisfying choices. 5h
Bookwormjillk @TheBookHippie @julieclaire yeah he is just starting to enjoy reading. I really do not want him to do this to himself. Luckily it's a long list he can choose from. 5h

This Viking ruled world continues to feel more English than Nordic or Scottish?? Perhaps this rule comes from the Normans?? I'm enjoying this nonetheless 🐉📚💝. On Page 81

Hello to my fellow #DoorstopKristin #KLBR readers! Next week, we‘ll be discussing book one: The Wreath. I finished it over the weekend and—ooof! It‘s SO good but emotionally rough! I hope your reading is going well, and I look forward to hearing everyone‘s thoughts next week.

Ruthiella I just finished book one yesterday. Emotionally rough is right! 😬😢😅 (edited) 1w
staci.reads I haven't gotten to this, so you can take me off the tag list 😔 1w

julieclair I still haven‘t started, so I think you can take me off the tag list, please. 😕 I will put it on my list for #AllergicToChunksters, which means I will eventually get to it. Then I can loop back to these discussions, because they‘ll be there waiting! Thank you for hosting. 💙 3d
julieclair I tried to listen on audio, since my “sit down and read” time is scarce these days, but between the accent and the unfamiliar names, it just wasn‘t working for me. 😕 3d
BarbaraJean @julieclair I understand! I don't think I'd be able to absorb this on on audio, either. I need to SEE unfamiliar names! 3d

I am so glad there wasn't a thing on my agenda today except to finish this book! I have to admit, at just shy of the halfway point, I was really wondering why there was such love for this book. Didn't take much longer to find out! There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said except, if you're thinking of reading it--do it!!

Starting chunkster number 2 for #AllergicToChunksters

julieclair I have this one on my list, too. 2w
TheBookgeekFrau @julieclair Go into it with patience. It's not a quick read, until you reach the unputdownable point when it all comes together. I have just over 100 pages to go and a whole day to myself, I have no doubt I'll finish today. So. Good. 2w

These books are never what I expect, but it always blows my mind.
A very satisfying end to a very heart-rending journey.

Hob weaves true magic with her writing. Her poetic, imaginative prose takes you places you've never dreamt of; contiplating situation you'll never face, but truly do though her stories

👇🏼 continued 👇🏼

Enchanted_Bibliophile Going into a darker, more introspective character study with this book makes it much slower than the previous two (which were already slow) so perseverance is the name of the game. Don't try to rush, stick with it I promise you'll be glad you did. Even if it test your tolerance for grimness beyond what you think you can handle. 3w
Enchanted_Bibliophile The complexity of the character bonds is what really pulled it off for me. Nighteyes, Fool I'm looking at you.
The prolonged revenge quest got a bit much for me, but the character development I got out of it was so worth it. Understanding where Fitz came from - his physical and psychological suffering - made me understand his need for revenge.
3w
Enchanted_Bibliophile How he revenged himself in the end, O Man!
It shows just how much he's learnt and grown and it was just spectacular.

I'm gonna miss these characters, they've become a part of my heart.
