Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close | Jonathan Safran Foer

Day 9 - #Incredible #WordsOfOctober
#ExtremelyLoudandIncrediblyClose #JonathanSafranFoer

I read this in Feb. It is an uplifting myth which was born of the sorrows of 9/11. Parts were hilarious but heartbreaking. I found it difficult to once again hear about people jumping from the World Trade Center unable to escape the roaring fire. It was great to hear how many families are moving forward. I found Foer to be wise & compassionate. Recommended.

OriginalCyn620 I‘ve been wanting to read this one! 4y

#3books #setinNewYorkCity. #TheHistoryofLove is one of my favorite books ever. It was interesting to read it back to back with #ExtremelyLoudAndIncrediblyClose since the authors were married at the time.

Andrew65 Still need to choose a #tearjerker. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Listening to The Art of Racing in the Rain for tearjerker and it's very good. 5y
gradcat @EadieB You go, Eadie! That‘s a lot of books!! I, too, have to choose a tearjerker, like @Andrew65 ... I‘ve yet to decide. 🤷🏽‍♀️ 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Not heard of that one, will do some research. Also am I brave enough to do 5y
Andrew65 @gradcat If not Read it I recommend this book, had me in ugly tears! 5y
Andrew65 Also wondered about some more Kristin Hannah as the Buddy Read you led for The Great Alone had me in tears! 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Me Before You is a very tearful read at the end. You will need to be brave to read it. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 This is another tearjerker by Kristin Hannah. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 My review of another tearjerker:
This book is a very sad and emotional read but an amazing story. The last part of the book had me in tears. I have never cried so hard as when I was reading this book. Hannah being able to evoke such emotions is a sign of her excellent writing skills. If you need a good cry then read this book. Do not read if you are prone to depression.

Andrew65 @EadieB Thanks, just checked and my library has a copy. 😊👍 (edited) 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Great! That's a good one for tearjerker! 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Will Check Night Road our too, thanks fir the recommendations. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Between the two, I would pick Night Road. I gave Winter Garden 4 stars but Night Road got 5 stars. (edited) 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Definitely sounds the way to go. 😊 I really enjoyed that Buddy Read. (edited) 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 It was a good one! I enjoyed it too! 5y

Pickpick

As I already mentioned earlier, I‘ve had this one on my #tbr since it was published. I definitely wasn‘t let down by Foer. All high expectations were fulfilled. The unique style of this book makes it very special and absorbs the reader even more into the story and into the mind of Oskar. This definitely a book to re-read.

Redwritinghood Also, this one is a Kindle daily deal today. 7y
JaclynW @Cinfhen Agreed! So many #greatminds on Litsy! (I'm so not surprised though. 😉😊) This book was phenomenal. 7y
JaclynW @Redwritinghood I noticed that too! I have the audio version. It's always good to have multiple versions of the same book, right?! 😁 7y

Here I Am: A Novel | Jonathan Safran Foer
Mehso-so

Disappointing, considering how wonderful #EverythingIsIlluminated and #ExtremelyLoudAndIncrediblyClose were. I found a lot of parallels to my own life in Here I Am, but at it's heart this book felt far more cynical than Foer's previous works. This removed me from the characters and left me without anyone to root for. Perhaps that was intentional, but it kept me from being invested.

AndjoSant I‘m feeling this way after reading the first 100 pages, but I‘ll persevere 7y

"Every time I left the apartment to go searching for the lock, I became a little lighter, because I was getting closer to Dad. But I also became a little heavier, because I was getting farther from Mom.” The best book I ever read. #extremelyloudandincrediblyclose #grievance

I thought today's #SeptPhotoChallenge would be hard, I thought "you don't normally cry while reading." And then I remembered these beauties #MeBeforeYou #DeathlyHallows #TheFaultInOurStars #TheLifeAndDeathOfCharlieStCloud #TheBookThief #ExtremelyLoudAndIncrediblyClose #StillAlice. They all got me real in the feels. I DISTINCTLY remember sitting on my bed staying up to read HP7 with nonstop, silent tears rolling down my cheeks #MadeMeCry #Day7
