Julia heads to Lanwyn Manor to act as companion to her bedridden, pregnant cousin. Of course, intrigue and danger arrive with her. Legends fill the house with a sinister air, tempers flare from mining-related struggles, and Julia becomes caught in the romantic intentions of the Blake twins.

Ladd allows the story around Julia to unfold with ease—and a couple great twists—making it a delightful combination of mystery and romance. #jumpstart2020

4thhouseontheleft Is this a mystery with twins in it? I have been trying to figure out a book for the #twins prompt for @BarbaraTheBibliophage #mandmreadingchallenge and it sounds like this would work! 🙌🏽 1mo
hes7 @4thhouseontheleft Yeah, I think it could work—though it is more of a plot that has some mystery than a “mystery,” if that makes sense. Some others that could work are Arrowood (McHugh), Two Can Keep a Secret (McManus), and The Thirteenth Tale (Setterfield). 1mo
robinb A thumbs up for me too! 👍 🙂 1mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft I say go for it! This is my plan for that prompt. 4w

Helene Hanff writes to Marks & Co. Booksellers to acquire a few books and winds up in a correspondence that spans year, and the letters exchanged make for a delightfully bookish collection. I loved it. Thanks for putting this on the list @Librarybelle because I probably never would have picked it up otherwise.

#JumpStart2020 wrapup: of my original stack I finished the five marked books. I am about 40% into the tagged book, which I knew would go slowly. Didn‘t get to the Briggs. I also read two Nancy Drews with the kiddo, for a total of seven finished. It‘s been a tough month for me, very busy momming and there‘s no let-up in sight. Hoping to get some reading done while traveling this next week.

Thanks to @Lizpixie @Clwojick for hosting!

Nikki_E Dicey‘s Song (and Homecoming) were faves when I was growing up. 1mo
ravenlee @Nikki_E I love both of them and have read them many times. I am trying to continue the series, but I stalled early on the last time I tried the next book. Fingers crossed for this next try! 1mo
Clwojick Thanks for joining! ♥️ 1mo

#JumpStart2020

My plan was to finish The Story Raider and read eight books. I had some unexpected stuff come up that cut into my reading time, so I didn‘t quite reach my goal. I finished The Story Raider, read four of the Jackaby books, and made it halfway through The Dire King. Not a bad start for the year. Thank you for hosting @Lizpixie and @Clwojick

Clwojick I had no idea there was this many books in the series. I‘ve only read the first 1mo
JessClark78 @Clwojick It‘s such a good series. The Map is a novella that takes place after the first book. 1mo

Final numbers for #Jumpstart2020. I fell a couple of books short, but those, including the tagged book, are currently in progress. I checked off more books for my reading challenges than expected!
