I started this book on December 21, 2024, and finished it tonight on January 20, 2025.
One reason it took me a month to read is that it is a chunkster of a book. I, also, went down the rabbit hole, which I seem to do when I read a history book. The Fate of the Day covers the American Revolutionary War from 1777-1780. It's the 2nd volume in The Revolution Trilogy.

I thought I knew a lot about the Revolutionary War. It's a subject we are ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read taught about in school, though I have been out of school for 33 years. I learned a lot from this book. I obviously missed part of it in school, was never taught some parts, or I have forgotten some of it. For instance, I knew that France helped America during the war, but I never knew that the Germans helped Britain. Or, the Indians helped both sides, and sometimes, the same Indians helped both sides at the same time. One thing that surprised me was that they hung people who helped the British without a trail.

Atkinson takes you on an adventure through this time in the American Revolution. He takes you from America to France with Benjamin Franklin, as well as Britain and Ireland. Even though it took me a month to read, because I was reading other books along with this one (I usually have 6 or 7 books going at a time), I enjoyed it. If you love history, I recommend this book to you.

Tentative Publication Date: April 29, 2025

I won an ARC through a Goodreads Giveaway. Thanks to Goodreads, Penguin Random House, Crown Publishing, and Rick Atkinson for the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

😊 Happy Reading 😊

Good. Follows a couple and how they negotiate their feelings about each other following a break up. Full of rich detail which kept me turning the page. Thank you #MichaelJoseph and #PenguinRandomHouse for inviting me to read this via #Netgalley.

Connie Willis at her madcap best. A mashup of screwball comedy/road movie/alien invasion with a perfectly wacky cast of characters including the most lovable alien since Project Hail Mary‘s Rocky. Are there easily avoidable misunderstandings? Naturally. Does everything work out in the end via totally implausible turns of events? Of course! But none of that detracts from the highly entertaining romp through the desert and the world of UFO hunters.

Good. Focuses on a group of friends and how they respond to life and how it can change both the friendships and people themselves. Also shows how we can focus on certain places in our lives that bring us joy but it can get ruined by nostalgia. Another great book by Emily Henry. Look at this lovely tea-towel I just received from #penguinrandomhouse and #waterstones for reviewing the tagged book.

The book is published today (in the UK - it‘s already a BOTM in the US) and is definitely worth a read…one of my favourites this year!

julesG Was just approved for the German audiobook. 3y

Very good. Another powerful story from this wonderful author. Even though this is a love story between two people it is also a love story towards yourself. It shows that sometimes you just need to deal with your own love connection with yourself before anything else. Love how the author uses the island as a character in itself. Every July I get a comp check for overtime shifts not paid out. I spent it in a big way today. Sorry not sorry. This is my accumulation for the past two weeks. I'm so excited. A couple are freebies from #penguinrandomhouse #readerrewards No idea where to start.

Megabooks Cultish and Nightbitch are two of my favorites from this summer! 3y
Megabooks Filthy Animals was excellent too! 3y

marleed Ohhh, I just read Hell of a Book and loved it! 3y
FelinesAndFelonies @Megabooks I started Nightbitch this morning. I am thinking Filthy Animals next and then Hell of a Book @marleed. Thank you for giving me a starting point. Once There Were Wolves is my most anticipated book and I am putting it off because you can only read a book for the first time once. 😜 3y

I needed to be reminded to chill the 🤬 out. Is this some break through parenting advice? No. Was it full of easy to digest platitudes? Yes. And, they didn't make me feel like a crappy parent or that I couldn't achieve the goal written about. So, that gets it a thumbs up from me. #parenting #parenthood #mothed #father #child #pshychology #selfhelp #familytherapy #relationship #penguinrandomhouse #stevenfonso #findingmagicinthemess #usedbooks

Thanks to #penguinrandomhouse for the ARC of this book.

This is a real road-trippy book - Anne-Marie is just getting by after her husband left her on their first anniversary. When he turns up 2 years later, there‘s an incident and the pair end up on the run.

It‘s a soft pick for me; it‘s beautifully written but there‘s no plot line to speak of, no ending and it felt very much like an extended short story.

rockpools Love the graphic! I‘m umming over whether to stack or not though... 4y
squirrelbrain @rockpools - it‘s a #borrownotbuy or if you could get it on a 99p kindle deal, but I definitely wouldn‘t pay full price for it. 4y
