Fascinating and insightful.

"As we collectively come to understand just what verbal abuse is and how it impacts humanity, we will have a healthier world... For example, a dictator using verbally abusive and controlling behavior could not rise to power if most who witnessed verbal abuse recognized it for what it is!"

Not the best brain book I‘ve read recently. Not the best book about dreams I‘ve read. I feel like the author might be trying to dumb down the info and the writing is boring.

An outstanding book.
Yalom describes the psychotherapy sessions he conducts.
The book does an amazing job of showcasing Yalom's impressive and fascinating professional skills while also delivering an emotional and honest human experience.
It's a professional book that explores the many layers of psychotherapy, but it's also a moving and captivating piece of human prose.
I think it really reflects Yalom.

Activity - Create a mood board

I used to despise winter and the long dark nights. 5 years ago, I became very ill with brittle asthma, triggered by cold temperatures. I now have to spend most of the winter indoors to avoid flareups. Coming to terms with chronic, debilitating illness has been a task.
However, once I changed my mindset to focus on what I could do rather than couldn't, things began to improve.
⬇️

AllDebooks Now, winter is all about embracing the darkness, welcoming the slower pace, enjoying time with teens making hot chocolate, stews, and bakes, making a cosy home to relax in and of course, losing myself in books. I've come to think of it as my hibernation time. 💙❄️💙 2mo

TEArificbooks My sister has that asthma and she lives near Canada border. She hibernates too and as spent much of the time indoors learning to cook too. I have a chronic disability as well. And it affects everything I can do. Mind set is everything to get me through the bad days. I love winter it is becoming my favorite season over Autumn. Staying inside, making soups, playing board games and doing puzzles, reading, sweat pants. 2mo
AllDebooks @TEArificbooks chronic illness is an absolute pain in the ass. It takes time to adapt, but I'm a firm believer in the power of mindset. Stay well xx 2mo

"There is something I don't know
that I'm supposed to know.
I don't know what it is I don't know,
and yet I'm supposed to know,
and I feel stupid
if I seem both to not know it
and not know what it is I don't know.
Therefore I pretend to know it.
This is nerve-racking
since I don't know what I must pretend to know.
Therefore I pretend to know everything."

Trashcanman Hi Michael, I hope you‘ve been well. Lozano1830@gmail.com 1mo
Bookwomble @Trashcanman George!!! 😃 It's good to hear from you 😊 I have been as well as a curmudgeonly old man can admit to! How've you been? It would be good to see you active on Litsy again 💖 1mo
Trashcanman I don‘t think I will be active here again. Although I miss certain people. I don‘t feel like I contribute in any way to this community. I take away from its beauty. You were always nice to me. I always admired you, your intellect, your insight, and most of all your kindness. I don‘t know if you use email, but if you do I‘d love to have a correspondence with you. If not that‘s okay too. Life keeps being life and time keeps moving forward. 1mo
Bookwomble @Trashcanman Speaking for myself, I find Litsy an inclusive space, and one where your posts were welcome, and I would find them so again 😊 I'll email you soon 💖 1mo
Bookwomble @Trashcanman Just in case it arrives in your junk folder, a quick message to let you know I've sent you an email 😊 1mo

Psychotherapist R. D. Laing's poems are distillations of the emotional and psychological knots into which people tie themselves as their relationships entangle. I think I may like these 🧶❤️‍🩹🪢

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Soft pick. Targeted at straight couples but there was some interesting bits I got out of this as a single queer woman.

IFS is all about finding the parts of you that are hurt from previous experiences and the protector parts that defend them. It works to calm the protectors and soothe the hurt parts to facilitate better communication with your partner.

Recommended by my therapist, I think it was worth a read.
