all three of these clips are about the packhorse librarians of Kentucky.
Interestingly in Louisiana librarians would deliver library books by flatboat.

Cortg I work at the public library. A friend from book club stopped in the other day to pick up her holds to include this one! She saw on Goodreads I had read it and texted to ask me about it ❤️ I‘m so glad you brought it to my attention! (edited) 3y

Scochrane26 I personally liked Book Woman better than giver of stars. It probably helps that I‘ve met the author a few times because she‘s from Ky. There was some controversy about how much alike some of the plot is to Giver (allegation that Moyes plagiarized). 4y

Scochrane26 @tpixie I hadn‘t seen that article, it‘s interesting. I read this book for library book club when it first came out, & the author did a phone call with us. She talked some about her research. 4y

Sometimes you read the perfect book at the perfect time, and that book shines a light on the hidden feelings within you that you haven‘t even really acknowledged or come to terms with. 2019 has been an emotional year for me, with the ending of my 10 year marriage, and the beginning of moving into a new and unknown chapter. This book captures so many of my feelings about marriage and relationships in ways I never knew how to put to words. 5 stars.

What are you reading this #Thanksgiving week? I'm halfway through and totally engrossed by #TheDeathandLifeoftheGreatLakes. #Nature is a powerful and awesome beast. Highly #recommend.

And I just began #TheBookWomanofTroublesomeCreek. Yes, I decidedly picked Richardson's tale over Moyes' #TheGiverofStars after hearing all the controversy. Who knows what really went down, but I know I'd rather support a fellow #Kentuckian at the end of the day.
