Bawling every time I read this. EVERY TIME!! #whatafeeling #augustgrrel

BookNAround I met her once at an ALA thing I tagged along to when I was in college (my mom's cousin who's a librarian invited me to go with him) and I blathered about how much I adored this book even though it ripped my heart out every time. She was my own personal rock star and I was clearly star struck into incoherence. 😂 7y
LibrarianRyan @BookNAround I understand that. I felt that way when I met Lois Lowery about 6 years ago. 7y
Georgette73 One of my all-time favorites! 7y

#AugustGrrrl #day6 #WhatAFeeling #day7 #Think I'm not much for sob stories.Really depressing, weepy novels are not something I choose to read much anymore,my life is depressing enough. My Sisters Keeper & The Notebook were the last books I cried over.Until I read this in January. A book about a teenage rape survivor,it brought up long buried feelings & gave me the worst panic attack I've had in years. It also made me think that not much has changed.

Cinfhen 💔😢 7y
TrishB This one made me very sad too 💔 7y

A little over a year ago I decided to re-collect my favorite series as a kid once I found out they were making new illustrations for the covers. 🙅🏻I just recently completed my collection and can't wait to start a reread of the whole series! #whatafeeling #AugustGrrrl

Purrfectpages Great choice! I have a bunch of these in my classroom. (edited) 7y
Cinfhen That's impressive 😉📚👍🏻 7y
MatchlessMarie @Purrfectpages @Cinfhen Thanks! I vividly remember being introduced to the series after seeing one of the books at a #scholastic book fair and the book came with those glow in the dark fingers that you can put on 😂 I wasn't allowed to read Goosebumps as a kid, but I devoured these 😉 7y
Cinfhen Loved those book fairs 💕💕 7y

Radway is an English scholar who legitimized reading practices as an important area of study. (Her work on why women read romance was groundbreaking.) In this book, she charts the history of Book-of-the-Month club and how it shaped literary taste in the US. #whatafeeling #augustgrrrrl @Cinfhen

Cinfhen Well played😊👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻and bonus points for #BOTM ❤️ 7y
Jess_Read_This Fascinating! I haven't heard of her before and can't wait to read her work. 7y

Dance Dance Dance | Haruki Murakami

Mostly picking this because of the title but #whatafeeling it was to tear through such an addictive and eerie mystery. A simple premise- main character searches for his missing girlfriend- is treated to all manners of Murakami weirdness (creepy hotel and sheep man included), but this one has the fastest pace of any others I've read. Sequel to A Wild Sheep Chase, but works as a standalone too. #augustgrrrl @Cinfhen

Kammbia1 This was my Murakami novel I have ever read. You can read my review of it: http://marion-hill.com/book-review-76-dance-dance-dance-by-haruki-murakami/ 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk Oooo Wild Sheep Chase was my first Murakami. Need this! 7y
Billypar @Kammbia1 Thanks- nice review! It's funny I was surprised too when I found out how huge his fanbase is. I picked my first one at random, never having heard of him. I agree this one doesn't have as much attention or acclaim as the others, but I'm a sucker for a good mystery so I think that's why this is one of my favorites. @TobeyTheScavengerMonk I even liked it more than Sheep Chase. 7y
Kammbia1 @Billypar Thanks for the kind words about the review. @TobeyTheScavengerMonk A Wild Sheep Chase is my favorite Murakami novel I've read so far. I just finished reading Wind-Up Bird Chronicle a few weeks ago. 7y

My #shelfiesunday is an eclectic smattering of signed books, subscription box books, Terry Pratchett and Kerry Greenwood, and other books I "temporarily" put on the shelf ?. Some of these are still #tbr and some of them I just like to look at. #backtoreading @JoeStalksBeck @Tiffy_Reads

I don't often cry when reading an emotionally powerful book, but I came close with Hunger. All the feels. #whatafeeling #augustgrrrl @Cinfhen

JoeStalksBeck You have some great ones! 7y
Cinfhen It's on my TBR and I'm hoping to get to it soon...I hear it's a tough one 7y
gossamerchild @Cinfhen it is, but not in the ways I was expecting. It was superb. 7y
