My first #whole30 was in 2013. My life was totally different back then (toxic boyfriend! toxic relationship with my body! employment insecurity! sooooo much CrossFit!), and the availability of such things as ghee and coconut aminos was so limited that it was often an expensive and frustrating chore to make food. I just finished my 2024 W30 and it was great! So much info, recipes, support and advice out there now. I will put my takeaways ⬇️

readswellwithothers Having had a rude introduction to menopause this year, I‘d already been prescribed estrogen and low-dose anxiety meds. Both of which had helped tremendously, but I‘m a firm believer that our gut is a direct line to our brain so figured cleaning that up might be an extra physical and mental health boost. Thus, the new W30. I sleep better, I have much more energy, I can THINK!! the brain fog is so much lighter, I‘m less bloated. Worth the challenge! 4w

Anyone else starting a #whole30 in September?
It‘ll be my first one! I‘m excited that I‘ve got a garden full of veggies to help me through this.

As is customary, I'm off to a slow start for the #24in48 readathon. But my errand is done, so now I can really buckle down! Needed a few groceries. I'm on day 13 of this program, and it's really pretty miserable, sorry to say. I'd love to be snacking on popcorn or popsicles as I read, but sadly I cannot. I'm proud of myself for making it this far, but someone please eat some ice cream or cheese or French bread on my behalf!

Megabooks I just ate “breakfast nachos”. Does that count?? 🤣 5y
DebinHawaii You can do it! #24in48 & #whole30 🎉👍🎉 5y
cathipink No cheese??!!? 💀💀💀 5y

Inside of cute little retro diner this morning. #RoadTripping with my #HusbandsOfLitsy ❤️

Dolly What a great space! Hope the food was as good!☕️🍳🥓 7y
LikelyLibrarian Love ❤️ 7y
Wife @dolly I loved the ambiance, but only had tea. I packed food for the trip as I am currently doing the #Whole30 thing. Husband liked the food though. I plan to take my grandson here someday and sit at the counter, so he can have that experience. 7y
Wife Yep. I‘ll go back! Not terribly far from my home. 7y
HOTPock3tt So cute!!! ❤️☺️I would like to have an experience like that one of these days... 7y

I am starting April with Whole30. Had anyone done this? Meal planning appears to be the hardest part so far.

Jinjer Not yet but I've read enough blog posts by others who have. One person said something that I made note of. Eat lots of protein for breakfast and don't think of traditional breakfast foods as THE ONLY breakfast foods. For instance, you can eat grilled salmon & veggies for breakfast. Get rid of the breakfast label if you have to. Call it meal #1. 7y
saresmoore It‘s awesome—I‘ve done four and now we eat this way pretty much all the time, with a few whole grains added to the mix. Don‘t stress too much about meal planning. The best strategy is to have plenty of salad supplies on hand and cook with techniques that you know, modified as needed. Don‘t try too many new things and plan load up on the veggies at meals—you will be HUNGRY! 7y
Wife Whole 30 is the way to go. Cravings GONE! I have less aches/pains. I‘m nicer (mood) and swear less. Yes, meal prep is a pain! But the pay off is worth it. 🌹 7y

Wife Also, my rosacea (adult acne) is almost non-existent when I follow #Whole30 7y
Graciouswarriorprincess @Wife. Fabulous! I need to lose weight and get my energy back. I am hoping this helps!😉 7y
Karen3 I have been contemplating doing this as well. So interested in how it goes! 7y
CouronneDhiver I just finished up a no meat/no wheat fast for Lent... Planning isn‘t fun but it works out in the end. The only parts of Whole 30 that freak me out are no beans and no cheese. 7y
Graciouswarriorprincess @Karen3 I will let you know. @CouronneDhiver Good for you. I know that‘s the part of Whole30 that is hard for me. 7y
alisiakae I did Whole 30 last year, the best part for me was kicking the sugar habit. Trader Joe‘s has some Whole 30 friendly items that helped for lunches and times I didn‘t want to cook. 7y

It‘s been almost a year since I completed #Whole30, and I still make this breakfast at least 3 times a week! Sweet potatoes were definitely my most cooked food of 2017!

On the plate: Scrambled eggs, sweet potato hash browns, clementine.

Book: Skimming one of the Battle of the Books selections M is reading over break.

Cinfhen I agree sweet potatoes rule , followed by almond milk😊 7y
youneverarrived Looks lovely 😋 7y
alisiakae @Cinfhen Yes to almond milk, too! I drink a ton of almond milk, and keep meaning to try the Califia almond milk Horchata. 7y

Cinfhen I had the Califai Farms Almond milk & cold brewed coffees over the summer! Soooo good 😊I did Whole30 last February and I stuck to it for about 90 days but then I got bad...I still do mostly no diary, no pasta & I watch my gluten. It's the sugar & milk chocolate that are my triggers 7y
Notafraidofwords Do you see a difference in your health? 7y
alisiakae @Cinfhen same here. I would like to be gluten-free long-term indefinitely, because I also did an allergy elimination diet and feel much better when I am GF. But this time of year is tough! I also avoid most dairy except yogurt and some cheese, and fried food (except latkes...but boy did I regret it the next day!) 7y
alisiakae @Notafraidofwords Definitely! The biggest take aways for me was cutting out sugar and gluten. Although I kind of fell off the wagon this month, I kept to a very low sugar consumption all year. I can feel the difference now that some has snuck back in this month. 7y
Notafraidofwords @4thhouseontheleft like in terms of weight loss? 7y
alisiakae @Notafraidofwords more in terms of general health. Less fatigue and insomnia, healthier skin, and my digestive problems went away. But I also lost 20 lbs this year with the changed diet! (and I ate fairly healthy to begin with, with the exception of a sweet tooth). 😊 7y

Well I survived the first 30 Days!!! Now I get to start reintroducing Foods back into my diet. Hubs and I picked corn tortillas to be our first food so we can make tacos and enchiladas. Also I feel great, I‘ve lost 7 pounds, and I found out I‘m allergic to bananas. #Whole30

Rachbb3 Great job!! I love doing the Whole30. It's amazing what you find out about your body. 7y
hes7 Congrats! 🎉 7y
LauraBrook Wow, congratulations! I‘ve yet to try this myself, but I keep dipping in and out of the main book, so...some day. Enjoy your Mexican feast tonight! 7y

Owlizabeth Way to go Jen!!! 💪🏼 7y
LibrarianJen @Izai.Amorim yep I guess apparently they have latex in them. I already knew I was allergic to latex but didn‘t know it could be found naturally in food too. 7y

Okay bookies, I don‘t usually talk about diets or anything. However, I am completely happy about this book and how it talks about the Keto diet. I am a current Keto dieter and I recommend this book to anyone who wants more information on this diet 🙏

Cinfhen I‘m intrigued #stacked 7y
LibrarianJen I‘m doing the #Whole30 which is similar. Either way these are great for restarting your system and the way your body burns fat. 7y
