#fallisbooked #ascarybook

Read Uzumaki earlier this year, and while this isn't considered quite as terrifying, it feels in the spirit of the season.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ok, so not that scary but I would totally be creeped out if my favorite snack started following me around! Great illustrations.

This is definitely a strong sequel to The Killing Lessons! But it lacks some of the immediacy of the first book and I figured out who the killer was WAY early on! While the first one is definitely #AScaryBook, this is more interesting than frightening. Still I did enjoy it quite a bit! #FallIsBooked #TeamStoker 11pts #24B4Monday 11.5 hrs of 24

I‘m not sure that I‘d categorize this as #ascarybook, but I did find it disturbing. In a good way! Neil Gaiman is tops when it comes to atmospheric, unsettling stories. 4/5 ⭐️#fallisbooked

BookNAround I have a whole pumpkin patch of glass pumpkins because I love them. I‘ll have to see if I can get a good picture of my next book in with them. 6y

Day 26 of the #Fallisbooked challenge by @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and @OriginalCyn620

When we think of #Ascarybook our minds tend to go to novels by Stephen King or Shirley Jackson, but there are very scary graphic novels as well. Few books disturbed me as much as Alan Moore‘s “Swamp Thing” run, where he gave us creepers like The Boogey Man, as well as the horrifying moment when a monster was born... “Yes... I... have read... the file!” 😱

DaveGreen7777 @OriginalCyn620 Thank you! 😁 6y
vivastory Alan Moore is excellent at creepy. Loved 6y
vivastory Also, if you dig creepy graphic novels, have you read Charles Burn's Black Hole? I highly recommend if you haven't 6y
DaveGreen7777 @vivastory I hadn‘t heard of “Black Hole, I‘ll have to check that out! Thanks for the recommendation, Scott! 👍 6y

I don‘t read horror any more, so the scariest books I‘ve read lately have been nonfiction. She Said and Catch and Kill are both about Harvey Weinstein, sexual harassment (and worse) and the ways that women have been silenced. The Whisper Network is a fictionalization of the same topic. They are scary to read, but very worth it. #AScaryBook #FallisBooked

marleed I appreciate the fictionalized telling in the Whisper Network. I think it could lead to a meaningful discussion taking place without emotion of how much we may want a story to be untrue for someone we thought we knew. 6y
OriginalCyn620 Scary indeed. 6y

marleed @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Oh yes, as I read it, I felt it was as much about continuing the conversation as the story itself. 6y

This was one of my first Dean Koontz books and the one that made me a lifelong fan! I remember reading it in middle school and it scared the bejeezus out of me! 😱
