It‘s #aharddaysnight when you‘re a lady of the night. Sugar is a young lady in Victorian London who is determined to rise in society above her current station as a prostitute in a brothel. This was a stellar 5 star read for me and ranks as one of my favorite books ever. #anglophileapril

Melissa_J I loved this one too 😊 6y
Cinfhen Damn!!! I NEED to finally bit the bullet and get this book 6y

#AnglophileApril One of my favorite reads from 2017💟Eitan Green is a well respected dr, who‘s overworked & underpaid. One night after pulling a double shift, exhausted beyond belief he accidentally hits “something” on the desert road with his car. Thinking it was an animal, he pulls over to discover the “something” was an African migrant. In a moment of panic & irrational thinking, he leaves the dead man on the side of the road. But someone saw.

BarbaraBB This sounds like a tough read 😳 6y
Texreader I had to bail on it. About halfway through the audiobook. It was very very slow. Does it ever pick up? 6y

Cinfhen I read it and it seemed to work well for me in print. It ‘s a book translated from Hebrew so I felt some of the phrasing was slightly awkward at times but I really liked the story. Lots of moral ambiguities. Not all the bad guys are bad and not all the good guys are good. @Texreader @BarbaraBB 6y
TrishB I see I‘ve already stacked! 6y
Mdargusch Yep! I already stacked this one too.👍🏼 6y
Reviewsbylola This sounds so good! 6y
DivineDiana Great choice! 6y
emilyhaldi I have anxiety after just reading your blurb 😳 6y
Cinfhen I thought this was an interesting character study with lots of moral ambiguities @TrishB @Mdargusch @Reviewsbylola @emilyhaldi I remember you read it @DivineDiana and really enjoyed it too. It‘s not perfect ( I think it has to do with the translation) but it‘s a solid story and kept me turning the pages. 6y
Centique @emilyhaldi me too! 😱😱 6y

I‘m having many #aharddaysnight(s) at the moment, and my photo challenge participation is suffering for it!

Margaret Hale and John Thornton are very different, but still they say “#wecanworkitout!” Which reminds me, that I really need to reread this book at some point 😅

#HeyJune It‘s #aharddaysnight you know, driving around the Scottish countryside every night, picking up ‘suitable‘ male hitchhikers, drugging them and delivering to her ‘home‘.
I won‘t say anymore, in case of spoilers, but if you‘re intrigued, read the book. 😉

Ruthiella Loved this book! It was so very creepy 😱 7y
Cinfhen Another book that‘s screaming my daughter‘s name! I‘ll screenshot for her!! 7y

#HeyJune #AHardDaysNight

“It was Ringo who coined the phrase ‘a hard day‘s night‘ when after a long day he commented to someone ‘it‘s been a hard day‘ and then seeing that is was already night-time...tacked on the end.”

If you haven‘t seen the movie A Hard Day‘s Night, you are missing out. Solid soundtrack, plus it really highlights the personalities of each Beatle. Features those classic shots of the band trying to escape screaming girls.

#AHardDaysNight

During World War II, Oblivion and Fogg were the best of friends. Together they used their superpowers to take out the Nazis and their übermensch. But then something happened one night in Berlin in 1946 that destroyed their relationship. This book spans decades but everything leads back to that one brutal night.

#HeyJune

GypsyKat Well done! 7y
