Finally! The second book in the cinder spires is out. It seems it finishes in a bit of a cliffhanger which is a bummer but I am excited about this book because I loved the first one in the series.

You‘ve got to love a guy who dedicates his book to his animal companions. He loves his fur babies.

This book gives a whole lot of flight history and information starting with hot air balloons up to aircraft. Truly informative.

This did not work. The cover is perfect for a Romantasy novel.

Reading the second book right after the first book I noticed that a lot had changed within the two years of book timeline between Windlass and Olympian Affair.

#RushAThonChristmasBingo - Didn't live up to the hype/Disappointing book

julesG Characters act very differently from how they acted in book 1, like friends suddenly hating each other - did I miss something?

There is more naked flesh and sexual content in this book than I expected. I'm not saying I expected a 'clean' book, but compared to the first book this came as a surprise.

The story dragged on for too long. It could have been trimmed down.

The novella was slightly better than the first book.

julesG The cover should have been a huge giveaway - name of author larger than title of book. 🙈🙈🙈 #petpeeve 12mo

The first book in this series was released in September 2015. I think sometime between then and now there was some legal wrangling that kept any more books in the series from being published. But don‘t hold me to that because I could be remembering it wrong. But in September 2023 this novella was released and in November there will be a complete novel. Benedict is one of my favorite characters and he is the focus of this fast-paced story.

julesG The first two are about to be re-published (in the UK at least). 13mo
CatLass007 @julesG I know that The Aeronaut‘s Windlass is being released with new cover art. There are some beautiful covers out there but they‘re all starting to look the same, so now I‘m getting bored with them. Warriorborn is book 1.5 and was first published in September of this year. Book 2, The Olympian Affair, will receive its first publication in November of this year and I‘ve already reserved my copy with Audible. This is all in the US. 13mo
julesG I was lucky to snatch The Aeronaut's Windlass and The Olympian Affair on NetGalley UK. Thought Warriorborn was 2.5. 13mo

CatLass007 Audible says it‘s 1.5 and Goodreads says the same. 13mo
julesG It was me who got it wrong. Thanks for checking 13mo

67/150 Everyone knows the story of the Hindenburg disaster, but this is a piece of history previously unknown to me. At the beginning of the 1930s, the British created the largest hydrogen airship, the R101, ever to fly. It was over 700 feet long, and used a combination of hydrogen, gasoline and diesel engines. Hydrogen flying craft had a long history of crashes and fiery explosions, so it's not surprise how this story ends. Continued below ⬇️⬇️

RamsFan1963 The amazing thing is, despite the history of hydrogen crafts exploding and/or crashing, both the British and the Germans continued to build them, each time bigger and more complex but with the same fatal flaw. Arrogance and pride won over common sense. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1y
