Dion Graham elevates EVERY story!!! I knew I‘d LOVE this audio the moment I heard his sultry voice. The true story of Mokhtar Alkhanshali, a Yemini born American who despite his abject poverty, believes he can better his life and his family‘s through hard work, big dreams and sheer determination. This story of an underdog will leave you inspired and hopeful. Along the way you‘ll learn about coffee, the history of #Yemen and the power of hope. 👇🏼

Megabooks Great review!! I am 75% done and will probably finish today. (It‘s just after midnight here 😉) Thanks for putting this on my radar and we did a buddy read finally!! 🥳🥳🥳 3y
Smarkies Sounds great! I may pick this up for yemen as well as I do not have anything in view yet. 3y

erzascarletbookgasm Wonderful review! You make me want to listen to Dion Graham. 3y
Megabooks @erzascarletbookgasm Dion is so awesome!! This is another amazing book narrated by Dion 3y
erzascarletbookgasm @Megabooks I‘ll look up these two books and this Dion guy! 😁 3y
Cinfhen Yesssss @erzascarletbookgasm EVICTED was SOOOOOO GOOD!!! Excellent suggestion @Megabooks 3y
Cinfhen I think you‘ll enjoy this one @Smarkies especially if you try the audio 🎧♥️ 3y
Megabooks @Cinfhen oh yeah...I forgot about that. I hated it!! Mental block!! 😂😂 I couldn‘t go to bed without finishing it, so I just now did, but I‘m going to wait to review until morning...probably. 😉 I have to take dad to the dermatologist and to the hospital to get his Covid vaccine tomorrow. 🤞🏻 it all goes well!! How are vaccinations going in Israel? Have your parents gotten one here yet? 3y
Cinfhen Good luck with all the appointments tomorrow💚Hubby & I had our first dose last week 🙏🏼Even though a LARGE portion of population have been vaccinated our numbers are still up! Government just EXTENDED our current lockdown until Jan 31😣My parents HAD Covid over Thanksgiving @Megabooks Thank Gd they both had VERY MILD case but they have to wait 3 months before they can get vaccine. 3y
Cinfhen I LOVED Monkey God @Megabooks 😛Hope you ENJOYED this one more 😘 3y
Megabooks Thanks! Praise be, as we say in the South, that your parents came through okay!! It is SO BAD here. How did you feel after your first dose? I am so glad you and hubs are getting protected! Dad seems to do well with vax so I hope he‘s okay. Mom does not do well with vaccines due to post polio so we‘re waiting for more data for her. They aren‘t vaccinating people under 65 yet in KY, but I‘d be worried to take a vax as poorly as I‘m doing now. 💜💜 3y
Megabooks @Cinfhen I remember you crazy lady 😉 that you liked that book!! 😂 Different strokes, I guess!! And I loved Monk 4.25 stars!! Good night friend ❤️ 3y
Cinfhen Praise Be, Indeed @Megabooks ☺️Hubs felt great after, I just had mild soreness in the site arm the first 24 hours, but really it was fine. I understand why you‘d want to wait and your mom too. Did your mom contact polio through the vaccination?? I‘m SO GLAD you loved Monk 🥰Dion definitely had a hand in my enjoyment, though 3y
Megabooks Still up. Mom‘s 76 this year and got polio in 1952 before the vaccine was available. She believes she contracted it from a shared drink with 4 other kids. 3/5 came down with polio. My mom has only the use of her ankles from the waist down. For years she used only crutches but since her late 50s, she‘s had to transition to a scooter. Since it‘s been gradual, she‘s adapted well, but dad did a lot of caregiving that has now mostly fallen to me. 3y
Megabooks I told you our parents were about the same age. Mine were just old AF when they had me, especially for the time. Like many older moms of that era, she was advised not to have a second child. Hence me being an only. Dad‘s turning 72, so mom was a cougar before it was cool. Lololol! 😂😂 3y
Megabooks So glad you and hubby did well with vaccine! I hope the second goes as smoothly. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 3y
Cinfhen Go MOM!! That‘s rough for her though, Meg. To be still so young ( 50‘s) and become confined to a scooter. Your dad really did take on a lot. Hope you‘re getting some good rest. #LoveAcrossTheMiles @Megabooks xxx (edited) 3y
Librarybelle I may have to check out an audio narrated by Graham! 3y
Hooked_on_books I have a Yemen option in my home library, but did you say Dion Graham?!? 😍 I shall immediately look for this audio from my library! 3y
Cinfhen Dion Graham is such a good reader @Librarybelle I hope you can find the audio @Hooked_on_books I think you will enjoy this story 3y
Hooked_on_books I did find it and have it on hold! 2 weeks and counting… 3y
Cinfhen Great @Hooked_on_books and @britt_brooke just told me that Dion reads Concrete Rose @Librarybelle @Megabooks @erzascarletbookgasm 🥰 (edited) 3y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen And @Hooked_on_books is the one who told me about Dion! 💚 Concrete Rose was my first time listening to him. Brilliant narrator! 3y
Hooked_on_books Yes! I saw @britt_brooke ‘s post about the audio and immediately put that one on hold, too. I knew I‘d read it, but now I‘m sure of the format I‘ll use. I love a great audio reader—they just add so much! 3y

I loved this so much. Its simple, moving prose captures the essence of humanity perfectly. Its short chapters focuses on the visits a young nameless home care aide makes to her ‘clients‘, who are dying of AIDS. It spoke so much of dignity, kindness and empathy.
I‘m going to use this for #pop21 #asubjectyouarepassionateabout as dignified, compassionate end of life care, is something I feel so strongly about. It‘s something we often get so wrong.⬇️

KarenUK I cared for my mother-in-law and at home at the end of her life, and although incredibly hard, it was what she wanted. This book is a must read..... #booked2021 #COVIDHEROES #bookwithadoctorornurseMC (edited) 3y
BarbaraBB Wow what a review. Thank you 🙏 3y
KarenUK I think this is a book @shawnmooney recommended, which is the only way it ended up on my radar. I‘m so grateful for that.... 💕 @BarbaraBB 3y

My first read for 2021. Tells the story of a man who is a bibliomaniac. Parts were interesting, the author follows his criminal career and interviews him. He steals rare and valuable books and is in jail multiple times. Interesting fact that many book thieves are never caught

Crazeedi @Cinfhen do I tag the hosts for every book or just the #booked2021? 3y
Crazeedi @4thhouseontheleft what is you GR group? 3y
Cinfhen Well done 👍🏻 I think most hosts like to be tagged but I‘m not sure it‘s ***necessary*** 3y

smalldogs_bigbooks2419 This sounds so good! I'm not usually interested in mystery as a book genre (I prefer it more in TV/movies, but I might check this one out 👍🏼 (edited) 3y
Crazeedi @Cinfhen I was just wondering! I will tag the hosts! Thank you! 3y
Crazeedi @BookBudget19 it was interesting, but it kinda left me hanging, the ending was abrupt. But pretty good 3y
Crazeedi @4thhouseontheleft thank you so much!! 3y
