I finished RADIANCE! While I didn‘t become completely obsessed with it, like I hoped at first, I did love sooooo much of what Valente does here. Now I want to watch a bunch of movies, too.
I carved a foam Mona Lisa pumpkin while I listened. She‘s my perennial favourite carving and the one that gets the most OOOOOOHs from people. Now I don‘t have to redo her year after year. #audiocarving
This year‘s pumpkin is weirdly fibrous inside, so I can‘t safely use my usual candle with it. The battery-powered light I grabbed instead shows off the back wall‘s stringy texture, but I‘ve decided I don‘t hate the effect. It‘s kinda creepy.
As is this book, which I‘m revisiting (and very much enjoying) on audio. It‘s a fascinating story and it‘s got me remembering how many good conversations it sparked the first time, when I read it in public.
I finished LONDON, ACTUALLY during a morning #audiocarving session! I‘m not handing out candy this year, but I‘ve always gotta have a pumpkin—or two, or three. Unfortunately, it‘s been tough to get to the grocery store lately, so I had to limit myself to just this bat. It‘s an older pattern I decided to revisit because it was so popular the last time.
Did some #audiocarving. I wanted to do a couple more pumpkins this year, but Superstore sold out before I could get back there. Poop. Still I‘m glad I got to tackle two patterns I love. The hand reaching out of the grave was a Pizza Hotline ad before I gave it the stencil treatment, while Mona Lisa‘s my mum‘s perennial favourite.
Pumpkin #4 is done! I figured I'd carve a proper jack-o-lantern face for once. I haven't done one since I was a little kid. #audiocarving

I haven't decided what I'll do for the fourth one. Mona Lisa's always popular and she carves up fast, but I wanted to go Full Hallowe'en this year. We'll see how I feel tomorrow afternoon. #audiocarving
I carved pumpkin #2--a haunted house--while I finished THE BOAT PEOPLE. It was the first Canada Reads selection eliminated this year. It's also my favourite so far, with only PRECIOUS CARGO to go. Dammit, panelists, are you always gonna ditch the best book first, or are the last two years a weird coincidence? #audiocarving
My first pumpkin's done! I've got a flameless Christmas candle in it right now, but it distorts the shape of the hand a bit so I'll switch to tea lights when the pumpkin makes its formal debut. #audiocarving

I recently saw the tv series, so I had to try this book. Agatha Raisin is so real and relatable and the plot felt leisurely, yet gripping (if that‘s possible). I‘m in love!!
