Queer Books | Edmund Pearson

#lgbtqia2025 @Kenyazero

Just need a Latinx author or rep to complete the card!

Any recommendations Litsy??

I enjoy mostly science fiction and literary fiction, things I don‘t enjoy are young adult and romance - but find queer books with it more tolerable 😛.

ChaoticMissAdventures If you like YA I highly recommend anything by Aiden Thomas. I have enjoyed all his books Cemetery Boys might be my favorite. I have been meaning to read The Town of Babylon that a friend keeps recommending. Or I loved this one 1d
Kitta @ChaoticMissAdventures oh my friend just recommended Cemetery boys and the Sunbearer Trials to me! Haha great minds. 1d
ChaoticMissAdventures @Kitta he is awesome! He lives in my hometown and I see him often at book events, just the nicest person 😍. But his books are very YA so just depends on your reading preferences. 1d

monalyisha If you do audiobooks, I absolutely loved this one! 1d
monalyisha Another option (which I read in print). 1d
Kitta @ChaoticMissAdventures oh that‘s so cool! I‘m leaning towards Sunbearer trials, I‘m not a huge YA fan though so I‘ll have a look around at what else is out there as well. 1d
Kitta @monalyisha I don‘t deal well with audio but I‘ll look into the other one! Thanks! 1d
Kitta @monalyisha oh I own a copy of the Poet x. Maybe I should read that? 1d
monalyisha That would work! The Poet X is my second favorite of hers (and it was my introduction to her writing). 💖 1d
monalyisha I don‘t know how MUCH lgbtq rep there is, and I don‘t remember it being the focus, but it‘s not absent. 1d
willaful I like a lot of Anna-Marie McLemore's books, especially When the Moon Was Ours. 1d
monalyisha Her other title that I mentioned exists in print, too. I just prefer her books as audio because she reads them herself. Clap When You Land has an additional narrator, as well, and The Poet X features spoken word poetry so it‘s cool to hear it as it was meant to be performed. But that‘s not to say that they wouldn‘t be enjoyable as hard copies! 1d
BookmarkTavern Chiming in to also recommend Aiden Thomas! Cemetery Boys and Lost in the Never Woods we‘re both great! 14h
Liz_M Carmen Maria Machado? I loved In the Dream House. Cantoras by Carolina De Robertis was also good.

Pickpick

As a rare bookseller, I‘ve encountered book curses, mostly in kids‘ scrawls and bookplates, and we even tried to deter a bout of theft by posting some in our open shop! This charmingly packaged, if unillustrated, collection of anti-theft book curses spans across history, from ancient Babylon to Medieval manuscripts to 20th-century America—offering a unique perspective on the history of the book and its (sometimes overzealous) ownership.

Dilara I love this, what a fantastic idea for a book! 😂 😂 Shame it's not illustrated... Do you think you could share a couple of curses with us? 😋 2w
Dilara @underground_bks Thank you! 2w
iread2much That is adorable and I love you. Thanks so much for sharing it! 1w
underground_bks @iread2much we hate the idea of “smile, you‘re on camera” and signs and all that—I may be delusional but I think the book curses helped 🤣 1w

I am enjoying this series. There a nice mix of serious issues alongside romance and humour, with a nice mix of likeable characters.

Sometimes I wonder why I spend the money on these book boxes with the rising costs of everything these days especially and usually not reading through all five books each month before the next box comes, but then I remember that when I‘ve had a month like the one I‘ve had and learn that I can‘t trust people to care about me or protect me, I can trust books and they haven‘t failed me or let me down yet.

Any book box twins this month?

📚💙👯‍♀️

StaceGhost I felt that in my civil rights and yes I got silver elite too and an old pick but they got rained on and now I‘m sad 2mo

I cracked and got the North as my #BOTM because I REALLY wanted the add-ons.
Plus I had a lot of FOMO that I didn‘t grab Wild Dark Shore earlier. And everyone I‘ve talked to about it loved it. With my #aardvarkbookclub picks that‘s 6 books bought today. I need to slow down. 📚

Avanders 🫢 I know the feeling… haven‘t yet figured out how to slow down… 🤔 3mo

Today‘s fun fact.

Lcsmcat 😂 He should have worried more about 4mo
AnneCecilie I must confess that I‘ve never read any E. B. White and I hadn‘t even heard of him before Litsy. 4mo
kspenmoll @Lcsmcat My son‘s elementary class listened while their teacher read aloud 4mo

kspenmoll @AnneCecilie He also co authored a classic book on writing 4mo
Lcsmcat Yes, I was aware of his role in Elements. I don‘t think you need worry about Trumpeter. My kids liked it even as they thought it was too weird (and my husband and I speculated on just what drugs White was taking when he wrote it!) 4mo
