I read Frankenstein years ago, more because l though that, being a fantasy lover, l should read such classic. I ended up truly enjoying it. I found it so modern and so relatable, more complex than we normally think.

myers85 I absolutely loved this classic. I was surprised at its depth - my view had been obscured by the movie image of Frankenstein's monster. The original monster in the novel is much more interesting and complex. 7y

The Master and Margarita | Mikhail Bulgakov

The place to start in #classicsforclassicshaters is probably children's lit (Wind in the Willows/The Secret Garden/Peter Pan). If what you want is a gripping story, try East of Eden or The Master and Margarita. Looking for a mind trip? Go w/ A Clockwork Orange. An adventure? The Hobbit. Beautifully rendered stories w/ characters you can connect to? Pick up Elizabeth Bowen's works (on which I wrote my thesis). Have fun! #fallintobooks

Natasha.C.Barnes @RealLifeReading Oooh, that's one of her later books, set in WWII I think? I haven't read it yet but I've read 5 of hers and they were all AMAZING. She rides the line between Realism and Modernism so well--one of the few of her time not to pick a side. :D (edited) 7y

Theresa I've had Master & Margarita on my TBR for a while. I may need to bump it since it's a gripping story. 😆 I loved Clockwork Orange. Not sure what that says about me, tho. 😜 7y
