I fully expected this to be terrible and it wasn't. I wound up enjoying it. The relationship building is nicely paced and sweet. It's still weird that Sakura doesn't even consider seeing a doctor when he loses more than a month if memory. Because of incel internet culture of alpha vs beta males, it was occasionally hard to take this book's premise seriously even though the two are unrelated. #LGBTQ #Manga #OfficeRomance

I've picked it up twice now and haven't finished, because it makes my brain hurt. The world in this story is ruled by a form of calculus, their religion, their belief, their whole society is based on a mathematical theorem, when a new society is formed based on a different equation,they are called heretics & are destroyed.

And... Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God!!! #IHeardARumor that the Chaos Walking trilogy, by Patrick Ness, is being made into a movie due out in 2019. Yay!! Okay, now that I got all the early excited squeals out of the way, I can say I truly hope and pray they don't butcher it. It's got a cool cast line up, so that's something. Though, Nick Jonas? Hmmm, I dunno. 😜

#AugustGrrrl #Complicated I've posted about this book & my LOVE of it & chef/author Yotam Ottolenghi before, but when I bought it after it came out in 2011, I spent weeks just looking at it & thinking the recipes looked too complicated. Really, although the ingredient lists can be long, the recipes are pretty simple to prepare & are so delicious! These are some of the recipes I've cooked from it for my food blog. Not complicated at all!😋#cookbook

Selves are #complicated - even when you try to order them into several, multicolored notebooks. But learning about Anna's complicated self is worth your time. Still my favorite Lessing- it's a literal head trip but the kind of novel you can get completely immersed in and not want to leave. #augustgrrrl @Cinfhen

Billypar @Cinfhen Definitely- I have a few in my collection like this- books of a certain age that have the slightly smelly, yellowish pages. When I get them, it looks like they've barely been opened before, but by the end I'm racing to finish before they fall apart. 7y

Billypar @batsy Ha, yeah it doesn't always get the love it deserves, does it? I know it's not for everyone but there's so much to soak up and appreciate. The scenes between Anna and Paul were wonderful, the account of the Communist party's unravelling, Anna's fiction and parallels to her life, and I love how the writing has a kind of a reckless self-consciousness as it gets closer to the end. Yeah...this is one to yell about 😃 7y

batsy @Billypar Yes to all of this! I felt like I had to leave the room in the scenes between Anna and Paul, it felt like they were there and I was the intruder. Will always love Lessing for showing how life is the stuff of art and art is not a refusal of life, or politics. 7y
