Plenty
Plenty: Vibrant Recipes from London's Ottolenghi | Yotam Ottolenghi
16 posts | 22 read | 17 to read
Yotam Ottolenghi is one of the most exciting new talents in the cooking world, with four fabulous, eponymous London restaurants and a weekly newspaper column that's read by foodies all over the world. Plenty is a must-have collection of 120 vegetarian recipes featuring exciting flavors and fresh combinations that will delight readers and eaters looking for a sparkling new take on vegetables. Yotam's food inspiration comes from his Mediterranean background and his unapologetic love of ingredients. Not a vegetarian himself, his approach to vegetable dishes is wholly original and innovative, based on freshness and seasonality, and drawn from the diverse food cultures represented in London. A vibrant photo accompanies every recipe in this visually stunning book. Essential for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike!

Happy Sunday! This is the first recipe I‘m trying from my first ever Ottolenghi book, Plenty. I‘m such a huge fan of his!
This recipe is called the Very Full Tart. My only advice is don‘t put in quite as much veg because it was SO full that the egg mixture didn‘t all make it😂

Having a cookbook dinner based on Ottolenghi books with friends tonight! 😋😋😋

stephothebesto This is such an awesome idea! I checked that book out from the library, but didn't commit to any recipes. What did you make? (And/or what recipe did you like the best?) 5y
suzisteffen @stephothebesto I bought the book when it came out, and we‘ve made probably at least 8 recipes from it, though compared to the price, library sounds like a good plan. 😂 5y
suzisteffen @stephothebesto Oops, and last night we made cucumber salad and fennel salad; someone else made the soba noodles with mango and cilantro and something else. Another person made raspberry sour cream cupcakes with lemon curd/mascarpone icing from the book Sweet, by Ottolenghi and his pastry chef. 5y

suzisteffen @stephothebesto AND finally to my mind the fennel salad was the best thing but it was also SUPER FUSSY, so ... yeah. 5y
stephothebesto Sounds like a delicious night! Fennel is so yummy in salad... You might like this recipe from River Cottage Veg: https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2013/05/arugula-fennel-and-green-lentil-sala... If I remember correctly, it's pretty straight forward if you have the ingredients. 5y
suzisteffen @stephothebesto yes! Cool, will try. 5y

#ManicMonday

1. That's like picking a favorite child😱but one is the tagged book. Ottolenghi is a genius with flavors & veg-friendly dishes.😋
2. It's between bread-like slices so I say, sure! 🌭
3. I would pick Yotam Ottoleghi 😍
4. I racked my brain & can't think of anything that weird. I made a grilled cheese with fontina, tomato, basil+honey🍯on the bread & it was pretty awesome so I'll say that. I like Brie & dark chocolate sandwiches too!😋

Eggs Wonderful responses-that combo of savory and sweet makes me think of the Monte Cristo sandwich 6y
JoScho 😋❤️🌭 6y
HKGirl Brie and dark chocolate—never thought of that combo but it sounds so indulgent! 6y

#QuotsyJune18 #fusion

Of course you know I'd go with fusion in food and cooking. 🥄😋 Ottolenghi is one of my all time faves and a master of the fusion of cooking styles, cuisines and ingredients. ❤️

#AugustGrrrl #Complicated I've posted about this book & my LOVE of it & chef/author Yotam Ottolenghi before, but when I bought it after it came out in 2011, I spent weeks just looking at it & thinking the recipes looked too complicated. Really, although the ingredient lists can be long, the recipes are pretty simple to prepare & are so delicious! These are some of the recipes I've cooked from it for my food blog. Not complicated at all!😋#cookbook

TheBookStacker I have Forks over Knives and Thug Kitchen, I enjoy the plant-based diet but agree with you that the ingredient lists are long but the recipes fairly simple 7y
I-read-and-eat I love Ottolenghi, his food is so tasty and indeed not complicated. 7y
Cinfhen I LOVE Ottolenghi, I can drool over his cookbooks endlessly 🤤😋but for me, his recipes are #complicated & challenging 😜and I live in a region where most of the ingredients are obtainable! Gorgeous photo 🙌🏻 (edited) 7y

BooksForEmpathy Yessss!!!! 7y
elkeOriginal I thought this looked complicated too - I might have to take another look! 7y
Michelle_2187 I love this book! Do you have Plenty More? I have made so many of the recipes my favourite has to be the aubergine with sweetcorn polenta. 7y
DebinHawaii @Michelle_2187 I do! I love it as well, although I think my favorite of all his books is Jerusalem. But I'm happy with any Ottolenghi. 💜📚 7y

#day18 #somethingforsept #booksthatmademehungry #shelfie A pic of my cookbook shelf (on the right), I love to cook for friends.... And also love to read recipe books from cover to cover, so writers like Nigel Slater and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall are favorites.... And always make me hungry 😋

LauraBeth I ❤️ your shelves! 8y
KarenUK @LauraBeth thanks! :) 8y

#FunFridayPhoto The book I recommend most is a cookbook. Really, it could be ANY cookbook by Yotam Ottolenghi but Plenty is probably the best intro to his genius. You have to like to cook, be a bit adventurous & want to learn how to combine & layer flavors. His ingredient lists can be long but the recipes aren't hard & the results well worth it. He introduced me to sumac & za'atar & taught me to love harissa & caraway seeds. #cookbooks 🍴📚❤️

susanw I have Jerusalem and love it to pieces! Good to know the others are just as good! 8y
DebinHawaii @susanw Jerusalem is actually my favorite, but they are all great. I just find Plenty to be a good one for people to start with. 📘❤️ 8y

Day 14: I read a fair bit of nonfiction, but this spread should show that my #nonfictionlove is cookbooks! I've cooked from most of these & my current project is to cook 5 recipes from each book. I also love reading through them looking for inspiration in the kitchen. #somethingforsept

britt_brooke Impressive! 8y
DebinHawaii Nice! I see some favorites there! 🍴📚❤️ 8y
brendanmleonard Aw yea! What is your favorite cookbook? 8y
Amandajoy @brendanmleonard I would have to go with Deborah Madison's Vegetarian Cooling for Everyone, it's the one I cook from the most. She makes vegetables interesting which is important when you're trying to eat more of them. 8y
