Day 3 of #30DayBookChallenge is for a book you did not finish. I got over half way through this one, but it legit depressed me and gave me one very bad nightmare (that poor dog!) and I just had to dnf it. No regrets. It's been close to 7 or 8 years and I have no desire to try again. I've read other books by Ness, and I will say he likes things on the sad side.

Kimmypete1 What 30 day challenge is this? 3w
MidnightBookGirl @Kimmypete1 It was just one I found, but I think you can literally start at anytime. I'll tag you in the post where I first posted about it. I started on Jan 2 since it's a 30 day thing, lol. 3w
Moomoo05 Omg I literally loved this book so so much... It definitely was very dark though. I read the whole series and liked it alot. I read it within the span of like a week I think. 2w

Since I read fiction, nonfiction, ya, and graphic novels, I cheated and picked 10 from each category so I didn't have to narrow down too much. Choosing these was like picking which pet or kid I love more...😂

Here's my #Top10oftheDecade #YAEdition.

Any friends who have not already done this, I'd love to see your picks.

Scochrane26 I was thinking of doing a ya one but haven‘t yet. 1mo
Addison_Reads @Scochrane26 I couldn't narrow down my fiction and my ya to just 10, so I decided to just separate. I'd love to see your ya list. 1mo

I just finished reading book one of the series. I really liked the story and the way the author develops the characters. There was from time to time an element of surprise, which keeps you reading. Not boring at all. I'm still heartbroken about what happens on page 350. I think it was too early in the series. I was about to bail, but I'm glad I kept reading till the end. Will definitely read the next books in the series.

Buechersuechtling Oh, I love this. If there weren‘t so many books so little time, I‘d be considering to re-read. I remember to have thought that volume 1 is especially original. 😄 2w
WJCintron @Buechersuechtling 😄 really good! I need to read the rest of the series! They are also re shooting some scenes for the movie. I think the actor that will portray Todd is too old. I hope they don't butcher the book!!! 2w

This was my go to read for our recent vacation over Thanksgiving, but it didn't last me a week! I could not put this book down. I'm already into book two, The Ask and The Answer. Definitely a pick! Because I was glued to my Kindle for this book, I gave it a rare 5⭐.

I just had to STOP reading on page 353!!! I'm completely HEARTBROKEN!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I've cried my eyes out!! It reminds me of Day 6 of the 30 day book challenge I need to add this one to the list!!! Let's see if I can continue reading tomorrow. Too angry and sad to keep on reading it today. 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Picking up The Woman in the Window, which I'm reading at the same time.

jeannasser One of the saddest moments in the entire trilogy. I hope you find the courage to continue reading later on. I honestly like the other books better than this one 2mo

#78 of my year. I only bought book one because I wanted to make sure I liked the story so I‘m going to be mad at myself if I end up really loving this and have to wait to order the rest lol

Caffeinated_Reader Well that was an effing bull shit ending. I think the idea about the goings on and all is unique and interesting but idk if I‘ll read the rest of the series. I like the main characters but there was a HUGE imbalance of rightness and wrongness 6mo

#24in48 Hour 6 Challenge: Fave SFF Series | Believe it or not, the first of these books was a drunk-buy at the Strand! I haven‘t had a more productive post-drinks bookstore run since, tbh. I was utterly weirded out by the strange writing style at first, but it wasn‘t long before I was totally, completely pulled into Todd‘s narration & the insane, beautiful, dangerous planet he called home. Also, his relationship with Viola is EVERYTHING. @24in48

I‘m still not sure how I feel about this book. The concept was really cool, but the main character was infuriating. Plus, I knew better than to read a book in a series, because now I want to know what happens, but I don‘t want to have to read 1000 more pages in order to learn. 🤦‍♀️

This was unexpectedly different.
The story, the characters and the way it is told.
Ness have this way where he climbs into your emotions and takes them for the ride of their lives. At first you don‘t realize what is happening, you‘re just there enjoying the story – happily riding along. Then BHAM!!! out of nowhere if hits you – all the feels in the world.

This book made me laugh; it made me cry; it made me want to kill.

More photographic proof from Ness‘ Instagram that reshoots for the Chaos Walking movie are in progress. I really like Tom Holland in this roll and am hopeful the movie will be a good one. The Chaos Walking trilogy is hands down one of my favorite, if not THE favorite, YA trilogies. It‘s definitely an example of genre or age defying books and I can‘t wait to see it brought to life. (Did I mention Daisy Ridley‘s also in the movie?!? She is!)

Great news from Patrick Ness via Instagram—reshoots for the Chaos Walking movie have started!!! Found the news a few other places and Tom Holland has posted about it on social media which means we are definitely inching—slowly, slowly—towards the release of this much delayed movie. Definitely excited to see this on the big screen and very interested to see how they will depict Noise in a visual medium. Should be fun!

Absolutely brilliant fantasy novel which is tagged YA, which I suppose is fair enough as the protagonists are teenagers but really it would be a pity if more (ahem) mature readers let this pass them by, as I nearly did. Also contains THE most gut-wrenching literary death I've read in ages. Just wonderful.
