I have not posted #monthlystats in a while, but I am on a roll this month. I am quite sure I completely left my previous page total in the dust - mainly due to listening to some hefty nonfiction books.
I loved so many, picking favorites is so hard - but I gotta pick Team of Rivals as the best. I rolled through Murderbot, Pratchett is always fun, and Guns, Germs and Steel is view-altering. Honorary mention: Killers of the Flower Moon. #gezestats

April 2018 was such a good month that most my reads were 5 stars - I marked them with a big ❤️! So hard to choose, but I think the biggest impact was by the Kite Runner and the Broken Earth Trilogy (The Fifth Season - read in March, The Obelisk Gate, The Stone Sky). Loved Sherlock on audio. Comey and American Wolf were surprisingly great.

March was fun. This was a combination of reading and audio. Lots of pages without graphic novels :)
I loved American Gods. Amazing. The Fifth Season was also surprisingly good. Sherlock I knew was great, but I was blown away by the narration of Stephen Fry.

Considering that I was in a serious reading slump at the beginning of January, this is not too bad.
8 books , 2364 pages
4 poc, 3 female authors, 3 nonfiction, 1 classic

August brought pretty meager reading - this was probably the busiest month of 2017! I worked into nights, we traveled to see the eclipse, my daughter moved out to the dorms, my other started school...

What I read was good (except for AFAR, which at least was pretty). Overall I enjoyed them but I am hoping for more in September!

PurpleyPumpkin Nicely done! 👍🏽 7y
kspenmoll Where did you see the eclipse? I was in Nebraska at my sister's. 7y

Gezemice @kspenmoll I live in central Illnois, we drove to St Louis and we found a small state park nearby tgat was in the zone. It was in Robertsville, Missouri. We had no clouds and we found shade, too! 7y
Gezemice @RealBooks4ever It is good but no rush! My reading challenge required a steampunk novel so I bumped it up on the TBR. (edited) 7y
kspenmoll So happy for you! We initially had clouds but parted in time- near Grand Island of rt 80. 7y
Gezemice @kspenmoll Glad to hear you could see the main act! It was amazing. 7y

It looks deceptive that I read a lot in July: all of The Walking Dead were read on the first two days (I loved all of it), and total 11 of the books were graphic novels. Also, I only read about 30 pages of the Daily Show to finish it. I am actually in a bit of a reading slump. I did have some excellent reads, though. I loved Azazeel, A Dirty Job, The Souls of Black Folk, Eats Shoots And Leaves. Hard to pick favorites!

I realized I did not post my May stats. Better late than never, because May was a good month! I read mostly short books. My heart was stolen by Born A Crime, the audio version splendidly performed by Noah himself. My mind was captured by the incredible life of Malcolm X. Tons of other good reads. I got into Walking Dead, Binti and Home were awesome, astrophysics and some tough Sh*t were also fun. Did not expect to like Dracula as much as I did.

ReadingEnvy Born a crime is so good! 7y
EchoLogical I'm low-key crushing on Trevor Noah! Reading Born A Crime only made it worse! 😂 7y
Gezemice @EchoLogical I did not notice that he was cute, to be honest, until I saw him talk about his mom. Awwwww. My heart ❤❤❤❤ 7y

Walking Dead, Book 4 | Robert Kirkman

June was a good month. I largely read longer books, The Walking Dead, with a couple fun ones like Jeeves and Papergirls thrown in. It was exciting, fun and educational. All of these books were four or five stars. I am loving the Walking Dead as a whole and it was great to be engrossed in The Pillars of The Earth. My history buff side geeked with Queen Isabella.

April was a good month. Read 14 books, mostly shorter. I am still reading my two longer books, The Autobiography of Malcolm X and The Daily Show.
My favorites were the Witcher series and the March graphic novels. I also unexpectedly fell in love with Silas Marner.

The Blind Assassin: A Novel | Margaret Atwood

March was a good reading month. I read some amazing books. The Blind Assassin knocked my socks off, so did The Room of One's Own, in a different way. Other great reads this month: How I Killed Pluto and Why it had it Coming; Are You There, God, it's Me, Margaret; The Left Hand of Darkness; The Prince; Men Explain Things to Me; March; The Importance of Being Ernest.
