I did read a lot of Picture Books this year. Most we're Free Amazon Prime First Reads. None compare to my favorite Honey and Leon series.🐾

Categories I didn't vote in because I hadn't read anything. Will try and read Nominee or Winner in everything but Horror. It's just not my genre. 😱

CoverToCoverGirl I agree - I neither read or watch horror ... too scary. 🙈 1mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig @CoverToCoverGirl just don't need that in my head. 1mo

UnidragonFrag 😅 I've heard this one was pretty good+ 1mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig @UnidragonFrag It earned a spot on my Forever Bookshelf. It's destined to be my go to happy read. 1mo
UnidragonFrag @Crinoline_Laphroaig that's pretty convincing lol I've added it to my #tbr 👍 1mo

I normally don't vote in the #GoodreadsChoiceAwards, because I usually haven't read more than one or two of the nominees. This year the only one I've read is This Is How You Lose the Time War, but I loved it so much that I'll probably make an exception and vote for it.

And while I'm at it, maybe throw in some write-in votes for things I loved in other categories.

Clwojick I agree wholeheartedly! I read A LOT, and have only read one of the books on this years list. I won‘t be voting either... 1mo

Voting for the #GoodreadsChoiceAwards is open now. I‘m disappointed again by the nominated books. They are so middle of the road, so predictable and uninspired. I know it‘s based on added and reviewed books on the platform itself, so I shouldn‘t be surprised, yet I do think these Awards do add nothing to what we already know without voting. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Kalalalatja I feel you. I haven‘t even looked at the nominated books yet, and I already know, I won‘t be surprised.. 1mo
Cinfhen I agree; these awards are usually uninspiring!!! I haven‘t looked but I guarantee Testaments and Crawdad‘s are going to win 🙄 1mo
Cinfhen I guess Crawdad‘s was on the list last year🤷🏼‍♀️did it win??? 1mo

BarbaraBB @Cinfhen It must have been on the list last year, it‘s one of those predictable nominees indeed. Give me the #ToB longlist over this one any time! 💕 (edited) 1mo
LeahBergen These lists are always so “meh” for me, too. 😐 1mo
Reggie What‘s a book you would like to see win some award? 1mo
BarbaraBB @Reggie I‘m not sure if they were all published in this timeframe but I loved 1mo
BarbaraBB To name a few! 1mo
Reggie I haven‘t read any of them, booooo, I‘ll have to change that. 1mo
Birdsong28 You can add your own suggestion 1mo
batsy Agreed! Because it's based on GR data it'll inevitably be the most hyped books that end up there. 1mo
Ms_T Litsy should do a Best Books of 2019, the list would contain a much greater variety of literature. 1mo
Amiable I agree. I‘m usually uninspired by the choices. 1mo
BarbaraBB @Ms_T Litsy does! I think it‘s organized by @LibrarianRyan (edited) 1mo
LibrarianRyan @BarbaraBB @Ms_T yep. Nominations for the #LitsyAwards will start Dec 1. I have the form ready and everything. Click through the hashtag to see the last two years worth of awards. 1mo
Ms_T @LibrarianRyan @BarbaraBB Great, I‘ll check it out! 1mo
MicheleinPhilly I completely agree. These “awards” are just silly. I have this list bookmarked as they update it every month. It‘s fantastic: https://www.realsimple.com/work-life/entertainment/best-books-2019 1mo
BarbaraBB @MicheleinPhilly Wow, that is a fantastic site. I know what I‘m gonna go tonight 😎😜 1mo
lele1432 Yeah, I'm writing in a YA book I'm almost finished with that's not listed sadly, due to not enough hype, but it's fantastic! I'm excited for the #LitsyAwards! 1mo
BarbaraBB @lele1432 That one sounds good! I do have a weak spot for everything related to Haïti ?? 1mo
BarbaraBB @LibrarianRyan Thanks! Looking forward to it! 1mo
lele1432 I thought it was so good! I hadn't read anything related to Haiti before. 😊 1mo

Speaking of today being voting day, have you guys voted for your favorites yet?
What are some of the books you voted for in which categories?
#Goodreads #GoodreadsChoiceAwards

Andrew65 To answer your question, no! 13mo
TheReadingMermaid @Andrew65 😱😱😱 13mo

TheReadingMermaid @Andrew65 I totally know the feeling sweetie. Life seems to be moving at light speed right now and I'm just running like a chicken with its head cut off trying to keep up 🤪 13mo
Andrew65 @TheReadingMermaid Can certainly relate to that. 13mo
Jee_HookedOnBookz @Andrew65 whaaaaat?! Omg that's just crazy! 13mo
ephemeralwaltz @Andrew65 take care! 13mo
SleepyDragon I'd only read one, so I voted for it. 13mo
Andrew65 @Jee_HookedOnBookz @ephemeralwaltz Thanks, has been a very intense start to the half-term, although have to say not too unusual. 13mo

The #goodreadschoiceawards are here. Do you vote in them? If you do, what‘s your policy on which categories to vote in?
I won‘t vote in a category unless I have read at least 2 of the books (and can thus compare) or if the one book I‘ve read is an absolute standout.
I‘m surprised at how few favorites I have read this year.

TrishB Pretty much the same and I was surprised how few I‘d read too! 13mo

umbrellagirl Some tough choices there. 13mo
RedxoHearts I always love their awards and seeing what is chosen. It is dangerous though everytime I find so many new to me books to add to my neverending TBR 🤣 13mo
jb72 I‘ve voted in three categories so far. I haven‘t read many of the books in the other categories. 13mo
