A beautiful story about friendships that span generations, varying backgrounds, and differences in faith. It's one of those stories that will stick with me because it is poignant, both sweet and sad.

If you have read the Olive Kettering books, you will enjoy this one as well.
I read this as a result of my trip to Nola. This book breaks down everything that went down at Memorial Hospital during Katrina and the flooding afterwards. This book covers what occurred but also many different points of view as the patients, staff, and families are left stranded with things growing more desperate by the hour. The book‘s second half follows the investigation into what occurred there and the resulting legal ramifications.
While sitting in the hospital for hours and picking up my kindle again I made it out of my reading slump with Freida‘s help. #19of2025

4 Stars • In The Devil Wears Scrubs by Freida McFadden, Dr. Jane McGill, a new medical intern, navigates the chaos of County Hospital. Under the tyrannical senior resident Dr. Alyssa Morgan, dubbed "The Devil," Jane faces sleepless nights, tough patients, and a sadistic surgeon. With humor, she tackles self-doubt, romance, and the brutal realities of medical training in this satirical, fast-paced novel.
I‘m just wondering what kind of genius developed this audiobook app? Probably the same person who came up with daylight saving time.
Oh, this book! 💔 You will fall in love with Lenni (17) as she navigates terminal illness in the hospital. Margot (83) becomes her closest friend. Lenni is a force—bold, full of life, changing those she meets. Margot is kind, wise, and has led a fascinating life. They decide to paint 100 pictures—one for each year of their lives. As they share their stories, you‘re transported through their pasts. Highly recommend this on audio. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ❤️📚🎧
Two of the beloved OGs from my IRL bookclub past away in 2024, one after an extended illness and another suddenly. For 2025 on their birth months, we are discussing a book each nominated in year‘s past but ultimately not selected for discussion. This was Patty‘s book. A reread for me but all the more beautiful the 2nd time around knowing how often she spoke about and loved this story.
