Mikki Kendall is a well-established author and writer in the field of the feminist movement. This book is a must read for those of us who are NOT BIWOC. It's necessary to remind ourselves of what has historically been a myopic feminist movement that often leaves behind women in marginalized communities and in what lanes we need to stay. #mikkikendall #solidarityisforwhitewomen #vikingpublisher #biwocauthor #biwocwriter #intersectionalfeminism

Throughout American history, the racial imperialism of whites has supported the custom of scholars using the term “women” even if they are referring solely to the experience of white women. Yet such a custom, whether practiced consciously or unconsciously, perpetuates racism in that it denies the existence of non-white women in American.

Emilymdxn Great quote! Thank you for posting, I seriously need to read this book 5y
charl08 A classic! I remember having this assigned for a seminar and just being so hit by the power of what she was saying. 5y
prowlix @charl08 I agree! I think it‘s still incredibly important and still relevant after so long. 5y
prowlix @Emilymdxn bell hooks has been on my TBR list for an embarrassingly long time! I‘m glad I‘m finally getting to it 5y

This is a dragon (who look like dinosaurs) fantasy about a kingdom where the princess daughter has to marry and consummate the marriage to her father in order to pass power to the next ruler. Uuummmmm UGHHHHHH.

I will not be recommending this to friends, however, the artwork was amazing, and I can not wait to see what the author comes up with next.

Finished up an old favorite this morning! I have actually never read the other books in Angelou‘s autobiographical series, I really need to do that. The first time I read this, I paid little attention to the section about the changing demographics in the former Japanese neighborhood in San Fran after Pearl Harbor. Having just read China Dolls, that made a bigger impact on rereading.

alisiakae This is also a great pick for both #BlackHistoryMonth and #WomensHistoryMonth for those looking for recs. #intersectionalfeminism (edited) 7y

Halfway through and this book is magical so far. Good reading for after tonight's book club where we discussed Colson Whitehead's The Underground Railroad. These women from the Crunk Feminist Collective are fantastic writers and thinkers. #weneeddiversebooks #intersectionalfeminism
