Circe | Madeline Miller

so-so

I love a good witch goddess story just as much as the next reader, but this one just left me flat. #Unpopularopinion I know. But I didn‘t like Circe, thought the story only plodded along, and struggled to finish this one. Made me sad, b/c I loved The Song of Achilles with my whole heart.

Cinfhen It took me awhile to get into this book and in the end I liked it / but not nearly as much as Song of Achilles 2y

alisiakae I loved this one, but read it before Song if Achilles. I wonder if I would have felt differently if I read SoA first. 2y

Emily92Bibliophile @Barbara @Cinfhen it‘s wonderful! There is not much Norse Mythology that is told from the female perspective and this one is 👍🏻 I loved Cerci but I understand how some readers don‘t like it. 🤷‍♀️Not a witch but Ariadne is superb.

Shadow of the Fox | Julie Kagawa

Despite the slow burn and length of time it took me to get through this YA fantasy, I ultimately ended up enjoying it. I loved the mythology and world-building, but the plot itself kind of plodded along. The story is very much rooted in Japanese folklore, and I loved that aspect! Enough for me to pick up the sequel when it is published later this year.
