So I have no clue what day it is. I‘m sorry. It‘s been a crazy week. I completely forgot to go to a job interview on Friday morning… so I guess I‘m not getting that one! I promise to post by tomorrow. #fail

GUYS 🙀😹😿!!!! My library friends, are you so upset you would cry or do you welcome the chance to have it perfect? I think I might cry then put some headphones in and get to work. #ohno

ravenlee As a young bookseller (17 with a year of experience) I transferred to a store that was just opening, and was assigned a newbie to train. We spent one day putting one section together from scratch, then he quit from the pressure (alphabetizing! By author‘s last name! He just wanted to work at JCrew) and I spent the next two days fixing everything he‘d managed to mess up. I think it was 11 bays...so I feel this pain. 4y
KatieDid927 I don‘t understand people that organize by aesthetics instead of alphabetical. How do they find anything?! I never worked in a library but I worked in a CD store back when that was a thing. I loved reorganizing and alphabetizing! I‘d accept this challenge. (edited) 4y
Seekingtardis @ravenlee I was a book seller for 5 years and opened a few stores, I once had a guy that had been working at another book store help set up sections and was putting the books in alpha by title...... 😱😂😂 4y
Seekingtardis @KatieDid927 agreed!! I‘ve seen people do it by color... why!? 😂 4y
ravenlee Oh that‘s awful! The guy I tried to train didn‘t understand that alphabetical by author meant author‘s LAST name and set up a section by author‘s first name. Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s body building books belonged under A, he said, because nobody really knows his last name anyway... 4y

My birthday presents from the husband and kiddo came today! My birthday isn‘t until Tuesday but I opened them anyway 😂. I‘m so, so happy that he enables my obsessions with both Downton Abbey AND books! #turning30 #ohno

Oh lord. I haven‘t even boxed half my books and I‘m already overwhelmed by boxes.

Remind me again how you all cut down your book collections?

#moving #ohno

wanderinglynn I did it before I moved & it was hard. I basically sorted my books into 3 piles: (1) absolute keepers (signed, special editions, favorites I reread), (2) books I‘d already read, and (3) TBR. For pile 2, I considered whether I‘d be likely to reread it. If not, it went into the giveaway pile. For pile 3, I considered how long I had it & the likelihood of me reading it in the next 6 mos. The older the book, the more likely it went into the pile 👇🏻 6y
wanderinglynn because it was likely that older books I could easily check it out of the library. I tried to keep in mind that I wasn‘t giving up my books, but spreading the love of reading to other people. I ended up sharing over 100 books. Although it was hard, it felt good to cleanse my shelves. 6y
diovival @wanderinglynn that's a really nice way to look at letting go 6y

wanderinglynn @diovival Thanks. ☺️ And it also opened quite a bit of space for new acquisitions! 😉 6y
CaliforniaCay I second what @wanderinglynn said, it's hard to whittle down your collection but look at it as you spreading the love ❤❤❤ I've been donating ones I dont want to little free libraries, or giving then to friends 🤗 6y
SkeletonKey @wanderinglynn @CaliforniaCay - I‘ve let go of about 800 so far but I‘m still over 2000, I‘d LIKE to be under 1000 but... good lord, lol. It‘s hard to put all these in piles but I‘ll try to keep the “will I actually read this soon” part in mind! 6y
CaliforniaCay 800 so far wow! That's quite a feat. No wonder it's so overwhelming for you. But atleast you're making progress. If you're really at a loss you can always do a litsy giveaway 😉 6y

? #OhNo

Aaaaaber: ich werde mir jetzt – also irgendwann mal… – den Spaß gönnen, die Neu-Übersetzung aus 2012 mit der von 1965 zu vergleichen.
