Wuthering Heights | Emily Bront
post image

Does a bail count as a pan? I bailed on 2 books in 2019 & that‘s huge. I usually read to the bitter end because I‘m stubborn & keep hoping it‘ll get better. When I was struggling with WH, Littens came to my rescue & recommended Anne Brontë‘s Tenant of Wildfell Hall & it was a MUCH better read for me. My other bail was The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. I wrote a rant but it‘s so harsh I don‘t want to share it ? #PannedBook2019 #DearDecember

MommyWantsToReadHerBook Haha, I would love to read your rant! 5y
Eggs Rant happens!!! 5y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag I quite liked Wuthering Heights but it‘s also a deeply messed up book. Also, unleash the rant! I think it‘s great to share opposing views - very often it makes for interesting reading and even brings up discussion points... 5y

Deifio WH always reminds me of a scene in Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series, where Thursday has a group therapy sessions with all the characters 😄 so funny 5y
TK-421 @Deifio I haven‘t read any Jasper Fforde yet but I have a couple books on my TBR! 5y
TK-421 @thegirlwiththelibrarybag @MommyWantsToReadHerBook @Eggs Maybe after the holiday rush I‘ll share my rant/review! 5y

How Hard Can It Be? | Allison Pearson

If the question is “how hard can it be to finish this book?”, the answer was “very!!” I almost DNF‘d but I‘m stubborn and couldn‘t really believe it would end as badly as I feared.

It did.

I. Hate. This. Book. I want to beat it against the wall until the spine breaks then feed the pages into the fire.

Right, tell me how you really feel? 🤪

But seriously, I hate tragedy-driven plots. Every major plot development came because of a personal tragedy in the lives of the characters. Deaths (LOTS!), strokes, miscarriages, oh my! I just don‘t care for that when I read. 1.5⭐️ because he can put together a good sentence.

Crazeedi Thank you for your HONEST review! I love a heartfelt opinion, may not rush to read 5y
BarbaraBB It‘s a relief there are some books out there that I can forget about! 😀 5y

Erinreadsthebooks This was a DNF for me. Ugghhhhhh, I despised it. 5y
Megabooks @Crazeedi a lot of people liked it, but it just wasn‘t for me. 5y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB Really the last 100 pages I just wanted to beat it senseless. The heartstrings tugging was so obvious that it was annoying. 5y
Megabooks @Erinreadsthebooks I only finished it because I was stupid enough to buy it. 5y
keithmalek I don't care. You had me at Lager. 5y
Eggs ❤️ 📖 🍺🤪❤️ 5y
Megabooks @Eggs that‘s it! Only without the hearts 😉 5y
Reviewsbylola I don‘t know that I would like this dude‘s books, but I feel compelled to buy them at some point and give them a try because he‘s the brother in law of a friend. 5y
Megabooks @Reviewsbylola this is definitely an #unpopularopinion, so you may enjoy it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just really have a thing against tragedy-driven plots. It‘s a pet peeve. 5y

I finished this book for a bookclub but I hated it.

Eggs “Witty, stylish and ferociously absorbing” !!! 😄 5y
Prairiegirl_reading Good on you! If I don‘t like something for book club I full on tell them I just couldn‘t and then it gets spoiled for me and I never finish. Well only once did I ever finish after the meeting. 5y
jb72 I read that one. It was weird and creepy. I also watched the movie. 5y

Blueberry @jb72 I did too. My bookclub was a movie/bookclub. Not any better in film was it. 5y
jb72 @Blueberry I don‘t even have words to describe either one. That whole mountain plot point? The big giant orgy?? 5y
Blueberry @jb72 LOL. You are sooo right. 5y
MelKelsey It's one of my favorites! 😂 5y
Blueberry @MelKelsey No, no. I'm so sorry to disagree. But let's still stay friends 😃❤ 5y
MelKelsey I'm happy there's enough books for us all out there! Friends always, @Blueberry ! 5y
