I‘ve never really been one to reread books. I‘m always anxious to get started on a new book and find a new fav. But I have been thinking a lot about some of my fav books and decided to give this one a reread since I originally listened to it on audio. So far, it lives up to how I remember it. Bizarre, dark, gruesome, and magical ✨🦢

Maybe I need to reread books more! How often do you reread favs? How do you balance new reads and rereads?

BookLove4Ever I almost never re-read books, but I have been thinking a lot about From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata. So good! Maybe at the end of the year I‘ll try. 2d
Butterfinger I reread if a favorite series publishes a new book. I see the characters as friends and love to get back into their world. Everyone is different. I know that when I become depressed, I will reread a favorite childhood book. 2d
zezeki I think I usually reread maybe 3, 4 books per year. It happened a few times that if I really like a book I will reread it immediately after finishing it, but that's mostly for shorter books. 😅 For me, rereading my faves is very comforting, and sometimes helps me get out of a reading slump, and I do like to return to some of these books every once in a while. 2d

Very enjoyable and fast read overall. Didn‘t understand a lot of the foreign word references regarding food and clothing. Some things were obvious, like facing her past as the answer to unlocking her powers…I didn‘t get the Howl‘s Moving Castle similarities until she went to his bedroom that was down a long hall and was eccentric. Then I got all the Howl vibes. So sad that Eliasz had to die. Nice tidbit right at the end.

Great queer YA retelling of Northanger Abbey! I loved Catherine‘s obsession with gothic novels updated to Cade‘s obsession with horror movies. The gay fears and love story felt very real, especially for teenagers in rural Texas.

Unfortunately, when I showed this to my gay classic-lit-and-horse-loving friend, he informed me that this artist is just as bad as all the others at drawing horses 😂

Eligible | Curtis Sittenfeld

30 Jun-2 Jul 25 (audiobook)
My least favourite Sittenfeld but it was still fun to read her Austen fan-fiction novel. Basically, Eligible imagines the characters from Pride and Prejudice in a modern day setting where Jane is a yoga teacher and Mr Bingley a doctor and former Bachelor. All a little ridiculous and far-fetched but quite amusing. Some of the characters do not make a good impression in the modern setting, particularly Mr and Mrs Bennett.

I studied Ancient Greek in High School and I remember translating the Illiad and commenting how in love Achilles was with Patroclus, so this book is the nerd fanfic that I've been waiting for since my teenage years. I like that it's told from Patroclus point of view, it gives depth to his character, but also allows us to see Achilles from the point of view of the person who loved him most (forgive me Tethis). The different events of Achilles life⬇️

nanuska_153 according to the myth are well incorporated in the story. I liked that it changed the fact that Paris shoot him in the heel, it makes the character more believable, as if already at the time there was a myth about the source of his invulnerability that perpetuated after his death. I knew what was going to happen and so every sign predicting the end broke my heart a little bit and I still cried like a baby when it happened. 4d
nanuska_153 Also I blushed like a prude every time they touched 🫠 4d
Scochrane26 I love this book, but I did delay a bit in finishing it because I knew I would be sad. 4d
