Most of this wasn‘t earth shattering news to me, but it was a good reminder that we all need to be intentional in cultivating better communication skills. Skills that allow us to actively listen to others, encourage deeper conversations, and let others know that they are valued and seen. It‘s a positive message and an easy read.

I liked this book. Amanda Montell‘s writing is always interesting and insightful. I will definitely read more of her books

I got to spend some time with @the_wastrel today who recommended this book to me. It just so happens to fit the magical sparks or swirls book cover scavenger hunt prompt. I placed it on hold. If I don‘t get to it this month, I think I may attempt to participate in #NonfictionNovember next month if that‘s still a thing 😜 #HauntedShelf #SkeletonCrew

Emilymdxn That‘s a beautiful cover! 1mo

I enjoyed this but possibly not as much as Cultish, which I can remember a lot of and I think about often. I‘m struggling to recall a lot about this book as I read it a few months ago, but I know I love her writing and her perspective. Some good relationship wisdom in here too actually. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This explained why I feel the way I feel about being a wage slave. I‘m resistant about being plugged in to social media and dislike my employer‘s attempts to connect every work action to data. This mess we‘re in globally is quite a spiraling web. Wake up!

Aimeesue Agree with you 1000% about connecting all work to data. It‘s completely ruined health care in the US, not that it was great to begin with. If it‘s not billable, it rarely gets done. 😡 2mo

One of the best books I read so far this year. I understand why I had to wait 10 weeks for my hold to come in on Libby! Brooks combines personal anecdotes with other people's stories and observations to show how we can deepen our connections with people, whether we know them or not. In this day and age, where divorce rates are high, work is hybrid, learning is online, and politics divide, this book is especially relevant 🧩🎧

Really good read this month. I think it might have been also that I had a great break from school, so I felt ready to engage more in books :) plan to continue to prioritize my enjoyment-reading despite needing to do my #NurseLife #NurseSchool reading.

Identity is becoming. Identity is intersectional.

reading theory takes a lot of mental energy for me so I was bored
