In honor of #blackhistorymonth and also so I have more awareness about social issues, I am reading all of these women's books this month. My #focus is on what can I learn and apply to help out others and speak up against injustice.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Ijeoma Oluo, Shonda Rhimes, and Michelle Obama

#readingresolutions #wcw #womencrushwednesday #riotgrams #blackwriters #heartsandhardcovers #vow #ampersand2018

Jess7 Awesome!!! Great choices! 💙💙💙 I love Michelle Obama and I picked Adichie and Oluo for my #WCW for #readingresolutions too!! (edited) 7y

It's #WomenCrushWednesday again and this time I'm picking Susan Hill. She is the fabulous writer of novels such as 'The woman in black' and the Simon Serrailer series and I absolutely love her books. If you don't know her yet, go check her out (well, not her but her books, obviously). 😊

SusanInTiburon I agree: She's terrific! I loved Howard's End Is on the Landing, too. 8y
[DELETED] 2232195534 I listened to all her Simon Serrailer books last year on audio. Loved them!!! 8y

I've already posted about this book but as it's #recommendsday AND #womencrushwednesday I'm doing it again. Partly because I can't get over the gorgeous cover art and partly because it's a brilliant book written by a brilliant female author ❤️ her! #wcw

#womencrushwednesday love this woman and what she does. Enough said.

BookishFeminist Agreed. She isn't without her problems just like anyone (really not a fan of her Cherokee comments that she hasn't addressed) but I really love her politics & attitude. This is on my TBR for this year on audio! 8y

My choice for #womencrushwednesday is Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She's spent her life fighting for women's rights and you just have to love how she dresses up those boring "Supreme" black robes.

BookishMarginalia She is my choice too. Love the t-shirt! 8y
BookishFeminist Yesss 👸🏻💪🏼 love her so much. I've got a tshirt for her too. 8y
Treatyoshelf Yaaaaaaaasssssssss. I have two mugs with her on them and they are the best. 8y
Twocougs @Treatyoshelf you have great taste. She's my hero 8y

For #WomenCrushWednesday I choose Malala Yousafzai... She is the youngest ever to have received Nobel Peace Prize... She is a brave girl who made a stand against Taliban for her right to eduction. She is an inspiration to many us at such an young age.

BookishFeminist She is the such an inspiring woman ❤️❤️ 8y

#WomenCrushWednesday - because most "serious nonfiction is written by a whole lot of dudes." Women can pen memoirs and essays but somehow never get as much attention for their biographies. More wonderful women in this category: Stacy Schiff and Sarah Vowel! Anyone have other recommendations?

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Love Doris Kearns Goodwin and Sarah Vowell! 8y
BookishFeminist Doris Kearns Goodwin is great! She doesn't do straight up biographies usually, but Jill Lepore is also wonderful 👌🏼 8y
Joanne1 Helen Garner. She write fiction and non-fiction. Not so much biographies but still serious non-fiction. 8y
