Bertie is roped into a visit to Deverill Hall, a country house owned by friends of his Aunt Agatha. Once there he finds an over-abundance of aunts, several couples on the outs and himself impersonating Gussie Fink-Nottle. Thankfully Jeeves is there to set things straight and help everyone out of their trouble.

#Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView

1. This is a tough one. My shortlist would be - 😄😁🤣😂😐😑🙄. If I had to guess the one I use most, I'd probably say 😄. Not quite laughing myself to tears, more like I just heard something wry and witty.

2. Anything by Wodehouse. I'll say the tagged book, because it's the first one of his I read.

A classic Jeeves story, this was very humorous and fun. However, I recall the Jeeves and Wooster TV adaptation with Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry being even funnier!

Bertie is called to Aunt Dahlia‘s country house to help her deal with a troublesome house guest. While there he accidentally gets engaged, must dodge a “friend” who wants to break his spine and ends up with pearls that don‘t belong to him. Thankfully Jeeves is there to help everyone out of their trouble.

Crazeedi You know, I've never read this author, always heard so much, I think I have one on my shelf! 10mo
AmyK1 @Crazeedi I always save his books for when I need a lighthearted read. You should definitely give him a try! 10mo

The last two rounds of #LMPBC I've read some happy, lighthearted fiction with the same group. We're continuing on as our own thing because we're enjoying it so much, so I decided I would see if there was interest in a second group!! Basically low-angst, no sex/violence - just some happy fluff along the lines of Wodehouse, Heyer, Nesbit, etc. There are also plenty of other slots open if another type of book tickles your fancy!!

IndoorDame I‘m in, that sounds lovely and relaxing! Woodhouse and Heyer are both high on my TBR. 13mo
TheAromaofBooks @IndoorDame - Yay!! Lately I've been very much into low-stress reading 😂 13mo

Oh, there are some stories here that did not age well but as a whole, I was still able to enjoy Wooster's antics and Jeeves' genius. While these are incredibly formulaic, the way each little incident resolves is always funny and unique, which makes it easy to keep going back for more.

Bertie takes up the banjolele which necessitates a move to a country cottage and prompts Jeeves to tender his resignation. The usual tangled web ensues, this one involving Pauline Stoker and irascible father, Sir Roderick Glossop and a homicidal valet. Great fun.

Dragon I remember reading this as a kid and wanting to marry Bertie because he was so easygoing and so rich 🤣 and I wanted Jeeves to run the house. Loved these books 💚🐉 1y
LeahBergen This was such a good one. 😆 1y
Ruthiella I‘ve not read this one yet but I want to read them all! Wodehouse is hilarious. 😂 Yet another series to add to my #SeriesLove2023 list! 1y
Aimeesue I would like to take up the banjolele just so I can say "banjolele" all the time. What a fun word! ? 1y

I'm so sad that I have only one in this series left to read. I'll miss learning new shenanigans with these two.
