I finished this one a couple of days ago, and overall I enjoyed myself. It was an eerie, magical mystery that grabs you within the first few paragraphs. There was maybe 30-40 or so pages in the last 1/3 that kinda dragged, and I could feel my interest slipping, but it came around again in the end.

A fantasy based on East Asian folklore? Yes, please. I loved this story…especially the description of foooood 🤤. I honestly didn‘t know it was a duology until the end of the book, which was clearly left open for a second book🤦🏻‍♀️. I guess I‘ll have to read that, too!

This book was so bad. I wish I had dropped it after 100 pages instead of wasting my time. The whole “I want you, but I can‘t” romance was so repetitive, and I thought this was going to be about ghosts, not zombies…even though they never quite came out and called them that. Bummer dude.

This book was incredibly underwhelming. Yes, I bought it for the pretty cover, and because I like old things such as antiques, but what a letdown. It was the slowest paced whodunnit ever. This was very close to a pan. The twist saved it from that fate.

I hate that this book was just ok for me. I LOVED Legends and Lattes, so maybe my expectations were too high. I loved Fern, Potroast, and Satchel, but the rest was just…ok.

Oh, man…this book hurt my heart. However, it further solidified my opinion that Sabaa Tahir will always be an automatic-buy author for me. Whether it‘s fantasy or YA literature, her words are incredible.

I loved this one just as much as the first. What a great duology…so original and magical.

Guuuuuuuys…this book was like a dark, kind of weird (no, I‘m not describing myself) fairytale, and had a magic system like nothing I‘ve ever read. I loved this so much. I immediately started the second book. I recommend it X 100.

Yet another book that had been sitting on my shelf and judging me for a while, as I bought and read other books, but I did it! Did it take finding out there was going to be a movie to buckle down and read it? Yes. Overall, it kept me guessing, but it didn‘t grab my attention until almost 100 pages into it. Did I particularly like any of the characters? No. I don‘t know that I‘d read another book of hers, but this lil‘ thriller wasn‘t too shabby.

Our girl Kiva could be a bit thick and gullible at times, but we‘ll blame that on her life circumstances more than anything. With that being said, I loved this book…the whole series was great! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was so good, but MAN…our girl Kiva is a little slow sometimes. Like, keep up, m‘lady. You are missing some pretty obvious revelations, here. She can be a bit frustrating at times, but lucky for her, it doesn‘t make her unlikable.

This book was so good! I saw one twist coming a mile off, another one I I had an inkling, but the last one…I had to reread. I did not see that coming. Ya got me. I can‘t wait to read the next.

Well, this certainly was not worth the wait. I had to force myself to finish. Bummer.

I bought this book secondhand years ago and forgot I even had it until I saw Netflix had made a movie. I figured I should probably read it, so I could watch the movie😂. Overall, I enjoyed it, even though everything lined up too neatly for it to be realistic. I will say, if you liked this book, do NOT watch the movie. They changed everything. The only good change was who she ended up with in the end.

The main character is kind of an impulsive idiot with a lack of communication skills, but I can‘t pretend that I didn‘t find the story engaging. Is this incredible writing? No. Was I entertained? Indeed, I was. I unfortunately had to wait for this one to become available from the library (for weeks), and I expect the same for the next.

I enjoyed the storyline, however, I did not enjoy how the ✨spice✨ was written. I was cringing A LOT and said “seriously” out loud multiple times. I did find the plot compelling, though. Pick for the story, but how the spice is written could drop it down to a so-so for me.

I read books while he deals with all the trees that fell over the winter at the ol‘ primitive cabin. It‘s lookin‘ a little rough out here, but at least it‘s a nice low 50‘s morning! It‘s almost like it‘s spring for real this time!

I had never heard of this book before finding it at a used bookstore, but, man…what an interesting, original book! I really enjoyed the story and the writing. Not to mention, it‘s preeettyyyy.

I grew up watching reruns of the show Murder, She Wrote, so when I found this book, I was sold. The main character is Jessica Fletcher‘s great niece, and she writes anonymously for a crime blog. I would say it‘s in the vein of A Good Girl‘s Guide to Murder, but maybe more believable? Not quite as addictive, but I still really enjoyed it! Pleasantly surprised!

I thought I was going to have to bail on this one judging by the first 70 or so pages, but then it really picked up, and I was hooked. Sometimes you just need an easy read, ya know?

The perfect lazy afternoon…a book and my best gal resting on my legs.

Well, this certainly wasn‘t pleasant subject matter, but what a good book. Lots of twists and turns, some seen and unseen. I can‘t wait to watch the show!

I‘m getting the sense that this is an unpopular opinion, but this book was about 40 chapters too long. It felt never ending. I‘m listing it as a pick, but I‘d say it‘s more in between a pick and a so-so. The length took away from some of the emotion I could have felt with some of the sadder moments, because I was honestly just waiting for it to end after a while.

I really enjoyed this entire series!

Even though Manon‘s storyline has consistently been my favorite, I think this has been my favorite book in the series so far. Manon isn‘t even in it! This was just a really good storyline, and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Well, finished this in less than 2 days. Sure wish I had the next one on hand 😕.

The writing is so dry and sterile (?…I can‘t even find the right words) that it is sounding monotone in my head. One of the reviews calls it “funny and bizarre”. When?? I haven‘t felt a shred of humor. Don‘t even get me started on the lack of quotation marks. I also am not in the mood to be depressed, so I‘m bailing and going back to another world. I‘m giving up very early on this one. Fantasy, I‘m coming back home!

I have so many unanswered questions…like, what the whaaaa? This is a pick due to piqued curiosity.

I just finished my re-read of the first 2 over the last week, because I remembered NOTHING. So, let‘s do this!

Talk about an addictive read. When I wasn‘t reading it, I wanted to be. It wasn‘t a mind-blowing story line or writing, but it certainly had me hooked! I will definitely be reading the next one, but first, I need to reread the fourth wing books before I read onyx storm. I don‘t remember a damn thing that happened😂.

This was such an easy, fast read. I found it enjoyable even though it had sad undertones. I always seem to enjoy books about books.

Maaaaan, the first 60-70% of this book was slow, and I was really only interested in Manon and Elide‘s story lines. It took a thousand years for me to get fully invested. Oof. But then, of course, the last bit was riveting and I couldn‘t put it down. Technically, I would rate this between a so-so and a pick.

Well, I don‘t know if it‘s because I paused halfway through to start another book on my kindle (didn‘t feel like lugging a hardcover to Peru), or if it was just slow, but this took foreeeeveeerrr to read. Not my favorite.

I found the main character kind of insufferable, but I enjoyed the writing overall. The story was just ok.

Well, this was warm and cozy. I‘d say better than The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, but not as good as Legends and Lattes on a cozy fantasy scale.

I tried really hard not to bail. I read just over 100 pages, and I can‘t do it. The writing is very childish, which makes the shallow subject matter (I understand that it is intentionally shallow) that much more intolerable. I‘ll just watch the movie😂.

Another good one. I‘m going to take another breather from the series…just for a minute!

This started out promising. It seemed like it was going to be a good southern gothic story, but then it went a little bubble gum. It was…ok. I don‘t know that I would tell anyone to go out and buy it.

My Throne of Glass recess break…

Well, this certainly took me forever to read. I was never bored, but man did this book feel long at times. I had decided to take a break from the series and read another book in between, and then the ending really made me question my resolve on that one!

Well, finished this today. Another entertaining read. Do I just keep going with the series or take a break and read something else? We‘ll see what I‘m feeling tonight when I go to bed and want to read.

I forgot to mention that I finished this and just went straight into Assassin‘s Blade. Yes…I am a publishing order kind of gal. But, another enjoyable read. These are definitely holding my interest.
