“Two Twisted Crowns” was an excellent sequel and satisfying conclusion to this duology. The side character‘s perspectives were very well done (big fan of Elm‘s and Ione‘s storyline by the way), and the character development was not disappointing. I really enjoyed this world, and Nightmare‘s snarky humor made this book everything I could hope for. Highly recommend this book and series!

Just read it, folks. It‘s basically “grimdark, but for the ladies” and I loved it tons.

What better company could a gal want on a comfy Saturday night (also present is husband and his book).

What an unbelievably satisfying sequel! I absolutely loved it, the ending was definitely emotional. One of my favorite series of the year. I can‘t wait to see what else this author puts out! Overall series rating 4.5/5

I didn‘t love it nearly as much as One Dark Window or The Knight and the Moth. I‘m actually a bit disappointed. The writing is still captivating, the characters just as interesting, but I didn‘t feel the same pull. Maybe it‘s because we go from having just Elspeth‘s POV in book one, to having 3 POVs. I understand the need for the change, but I wanted more of Ravyn and Elspeth as a couple. I‘m not sold on the other couple. Still a pick, though.

I loved this one just as much as the first. What a great duology…so original and magical.

This duology was quite entertaining. I know it's very popular and I liked it a lot but it didn't like blow my mind. I may need a break from the fantasy books if they're all starting to seem mediocre.

Listening to book two of this duology was such a treat, I felt even more so than the first book. I was transported every time I listened, and I was so invested in these characters that I found myself anxious for them. I didn‘t want it to end but also wanted to know how it turned out. I liked how this one focused more on the whole cast of characters, and I loved the romance between two different characters this time around… ⬇️

Really strong way to wrap up this duology. I think it's so impressive to add a new POV in the second book in a way that didn't feel confusing or disappointing. There was one point I had to put it down because I was so furious with the twist, even though I knew something like it had to be coming! And immersive storytelling like that is just so fun to get lost in.
I think these characters & this story will stick with me for a while.

My next listen… just finished book 1 of the Shepherd King duology, and enjoyed it so much that I decided to use my current credit on Audible to get book 2.

The second book of the duology keeps you on the edge of the seat the first book set you upon. Both books had me audibly gasping in public. It was so tense my Fitbit asked me how I was feeling more than once. I will read anything from this author.

Went straight into this book over the weekend- technically it would have counted for #hyggehourreadathon but i have not posted in a few days. I absolutely devoured this sequel. I highly recommend this duology for fantasy readers.

Extremely satisfying conclusion to this dark fantasy duology! The magic system continues to captivate/surprise, deeply love the characters, the twists & resolutions are excellent, and the romance is well done - not annoyingly fast or based on looks, it grows really nicely.
Whole story is really well executed top to bottom.
I have not loved a new book this much in ages.
Raced through and can‘t stop thinking about it.

4✨ This was a pretty fun ride! In the first book we learn about the Providence Cards. Some of them come in real handy when dealing with someone that tries to kill you! I honestly was concerned for many of the characters because this book got vicious! I found myself gasping out loud at least two times when there was a serious confrontation. Overall I was content with the conclusion of this duology and glad I read it. One thing annoyed me but I'll add it as a spoiler in the comments. In general though I was impressed with the magic and world that the author had managed to create.

Time is of the essence to collect all of the Providence Cards to heal Blunder of the mist and infection. But Elspeth, the Nightmare, and her companions face obstacles at every turn. Such a good duology! Was so happy I picked these up. For anyone who likes a fantasy novel with a different take on magic and a short series!

I highly recommend this duology. It was original and fast paced with likable characters. I can definitely say I haven‘t read anything like this before. ❤️

I really enjoyed this duology; the fact that it‘s a complete duology was a big factor in its favor. While I definitely preferred the first book, overall it had a satisfying arc. A really good combination of gloomy, gothic vibes, a truly unique magic system (although I have some questions about the total # of Providence Cards), engaging action scenes, and a swoony romance.

I did finish my #Bookspin for March, but didn‘t get to my #Doublespin. I came very close to hitting a bingo, but as usual my mood reading distracted me from focusing on that. I did read 10 total books in March, and I have a couple that I am almost done with to get April off to a good start. Overall, I did a good job of balancing reading books from my TBR and those new releases that pull me in from Libby.

Switching points of view can be risky, but here it worked. Loved how things concluded.

An appropriately twisty ending to this duology. I‘m a huge fan of the magic system in this world. Honestly, I‘m a fan of all of it. Props to the author for coming up with all those creepy rhymes said by the nightmare.

Highly recommend to anyone interested a darker fantasy story.

I feel so sorry for the Nightmare, even though he had his happy ending.🥺 This duology is so much worth reading, I loved it. It is now one of my favorite fantasy duology.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Solid ending to a gothic fantasy. No spoilers, but I like that this story dared to go darker with our MCs where most stories wouldn‘t. The cliffhanger from book 1 was not quickly resolved and at first I was thrown. But once I adjusted to this “new character” I really enjoyed the storytelling. Had wanted to finish this yesterday🙄 normally a day doesn‘t make much of a difference, but this one did lol so, 2024 reading list it is!

What a beautiful book — and an amazing duology. Magic, ancient and bitter and harsh; Blunder, a land founded in error and imbalance; love and hate and all the shattered things that lie between. I thought the book (both books) were written in strong, compelling language, with vivid world building and characters that just became more and more vibrant and interesting. A whole history bound up and revealed, piece by piece until it all came together.

GREAT sequel to One Dark Window 🤌. I gave ODW three stars, but this is a 4-4.5 for me. This duology is complex without being overly confusing, and does something new for me -- both stories have a romance element, and I didn't buy into ODW's. I preferred TTC's main lovers & they made me care a lot more about this world. The fantastic elements are just top tier, this world is so dark and creepy, and the story is so satisfying. Lots of love from me!

Spent the day at the cancer center with my mom. Came home to a quiet house & book mail that I‘m using as an escape from heartache. I‘ve been looking so forward to the 2nd book in this series. So today it gets my thankfulness! And also the unintended color coordination with a much needed glass of wine.
