10 volumes of detective mystery and a woman who can hear lies. Not my fave detective manga--that's Don't Call It Mystery-- but really solid and doesn't drag out until it's uninteresting.

Spending down time today reading the last three vols of Usotoki Rhetoric and this book. It's been VERY interesting so far and much different from other danmeis Ive read (I haven't read that many yet).
With 6ish days left. We'll see how much I can read tomorrow.
I'm now 13 volumes into Naruto and it honestly has no business being as good as it is. Love it when people make quality media aimed toward youth that takes on deeper topics.

Not showing the covers cause even the covers are messed up. They're just larger versions on what's on the spine. It feels weird to rate this series highly but it is a really good version of what it's meant to be. One is a stalker and the other is a serial killer who takes his own stalker prisoner. Just about every trigger imaginable shows up in here and the complete 8 vols took me a while to get through just cause of content. Not for everyone.
I feel like the Captain would've loved Trump. 😑
I first read this for a uni class and, because we we had about a week and a half to read and discuss it, didn't pay a ton of attention to ENJOYING it.
After taking a step back from analyzing everything I read for academia, I'm slowly going back to rereading some classics I read back then. Some I have hated (side eye to Moll Flanders) but this one I'm really enjoying. It's entertaining as hell and has outrageous characters. And the HAIR. GAWD.
On the one hand, I'm glad this book exists for those who've enjoyed it.
On the other hand, this is not for me. It's not even the smut this time... it's that I probably shouldn't be LAUGHING at it. Once the Christian Gray (grey?)-esque stuff started, I couldn't take it. Another one for pango.
I think I'll be giving up on this series. There are some things in the story that bug me and a particular thing that I'm finding fairly triggering as I continue on. It's otherwise cute and includes interesting recipes.
Really enjoyed all of these and Bastet has enjoyed me just sitting in one spot for hours 😆

Started this one last night. Reads quickly but isn't particularly grabbing me. Seems like this Hades is going to be the Good Guy opposite to... Literally every other god (a few exceptions apply). That's a hard balance to strike.
Previously I tried another book by Robert without knowing it was a reverse harem/why choose and HEAVILY smut. I don't mind smut, but not if it's saxrificing the plot. As I understand this one is more concerned with plot.
Didn't love either of these. Seaside Stranger drags for me and I don't love that both of the men are in their 20s but look like they're in their mid teens in the drawings. Tamon's B-Side was cute for several volumes but it's getting a little TOO dramatic and repetitive. Which is fine, it's just not for me.
Heard very little about this series but am REALLY enjoying it. Very interesting take on vampires!
Listening to this on audiobook and it's been so cute but it's also starting to drag a bit.
Going book shopping later this month and the goal is to get through 50 of my unread manga by then. Here's 1-10. It's rainy and pretty out today.
Also, has anyone read anything amazing lately (not just manga, though. ANYTHING) that you recommend I check out?
So much has happened in this series (and just in this book alone). I have 340 pages left and I genuinely cannot predict what will happen next or how it will end, but I've loved this series.
Honestly more like between pick and so so. I'm just not huge on YA anymore as personal preference, but this was pretty cute. Appreciated that the characters acted like their age group (17-18) rather than either preteens or adults who are nearing graduating from high school. It really rang true for me. Also loved that the mc was willing to change her mind about people when she was...presented with new evidence, we'll say 😆
Starting this one today. Got it as a $5 offer at BandN cafe without realizing it was YA. I'm not doing so well with YA lately but I've heard good things about Lynn Painter.
Anyone tried this one?
Bastet is very happy I'm sitting in one place to read cause she's all about cuddles 🥰
This was a hilarious romp. I love when Death is an actual character! Definitely recommend this one. Imperfect characters being human, even when they're not human.
Isherwood has a way of describing things that leaves no doubt how something is supposed to sound or feel.
25% in. This has been such a good series. I'll be so sad when it's over.

Another year, another start to library book club. This is our January pick!
Another beautifully written book. Short and sad and magical. I really enjoyed this one 💜
I purposefully waited to read this to give myself space from having studied Great Gatsby so many times in school.
It did not work. I'm probably forever all great gatsby-ed out. Even with the (interesting) changes offered here, I was just very bored.
The writing is absolutely beautiful, though. I will definitely check out Nghi Vo's other works.
This one has a super interesting premise. Really enjoyed the initial chapter 💜
Buddy read with @BookKenz
We guessed a lot of it pretty early, but the storyline made us question ourselves a few times.
Lots of fun and very different from the other one I've read from her ( In a dark dark wood- I enjoyes it too 🙂)
Looking forward to reading more from this author!
I really liked the premise of the story and the writing was easy to read, but I was bored out of my gourd in the first 50 pages. The outcome was also extra obvious very early on with how the story was being told.
Kicking off my spooky season reads (late) with this one. I loved The Woman in Black and didn't care for The Most in the Mirror.
So far, I'm really liking this one.
