I so thought I‘d love this book but sadly just couldn‘t buy in. Ever have that complete disconnect between all the reviews and recommendations and the actual reading experience? Will give her Bone Season series a try though.

Like there was A doubt what book had “orange” in the title. I can almost guarantee I may never finish this book. It‘s doomed to live on my TBR forever. #scarathlon2023 #scarathlon #mischiefandmayhem #scarathlonphotochallenge day 10: Orange 🍊
I finally want to tackle The Priory of the Orange Tree after almost 3 years. A couple of people on Instagram are doing Dicke Bücher Camp again, where you try to read long books in July & August. My 2nd entry is Die Verwandelten, which was nominated for Deutscher Buchpreis 2022. I also want to reread The Neapolitan Saga again before I‘m traveling to Italy this September!

I am ridiculously stubborn and forced my way through this book.. and about ¾ of the way through I kind of got why some people love it! The world building and politics are intense... I know more about the history and religions of this world than I do about the real world! It felt like it could have been 3 or 4 separate books, but the epic rush to the final battle was very clever and I did enjoy it ... to a degree. 🍊🍊🍊
I REALLY wanted to love this book. I started it in a cabin in the woods and had my full attention to it despite it being an audiobook (which I struggle focusing on at times). I loved the world building aspect of this book but I did have a hard time keeping track of characters, places, religions. And my biggest complaint is how rushed the ending was!! For such a chunker of a book the ending was merely a blip and I was disappointed by that.
My treats offs my 2 teens (17,14) as I working Sunday
Alright; here we ACTUALLY go!
Had so much fun doing this last year and am excited to see what my fav book of 2023 will be. Thanks for the amazing infographic @chasjjlee !
I read soooo many good books this month but Priory is clearly my fav of the month and I could easily see it becoming my best of the year! #2023readingbracket #readingbracket2023
12 hr later… incredible story of a world apart by a difference in religion. Dragon‘s god or evil? Damsel or knight cause Religious wars. Until two woman (with others) across the abyss find a way to fight together. Book is long, and takes a while to build, but the end is so satisfying. Once you got there, couldn‘t stop. I can‘t find myself to hate those I wanted to, and I love those I didn‘t think I would. Definitely worth a read. sapphic+gay rep.
This birthday I am going to aim to get through this brick of a book. 804 total pages. As well as focus more on fun books, as I‘ve fallen into the goal setting of reading (yes I made over 100 books) but how much fun have I had? Also want to k ow where my family found this shirt.
Merry Christmas Eve & Happy #jolabokaflodSwap ! This is absolutely amazing @BookBosomed1 ❤️ Thank you so so much! I cannot wait to dive head first into this book and chocolate. What a treat! I appreciate it so much! Happy Holidays! @MaleficentBookDragon thanks for hosting! 🎄❄️📚🍫
The Priory of the Orange Tree was an absolutely brilliant feminist epic focusing on the lives of two women from differing parts of the world: Ead and Tane. I could not put this novel down and devoured it from start to finish. And the LGBTQIA+ representation was gorgeously done. Highly recommend this one to my fantasy readers.
I am just as surprised as you that I finished this book this quick. I did take a break for 2.5 hours but it called me back. It was truly beautiful. 😊☺️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Did I get sick and tired of waiting for this book to be available at my library? Yes. Did I buy it and the entire Poppy Wars series out of impatient spite? Yes. In my defense, they weren‘t gonna be available for nearly three months. I haven‘t the patience for that nonsense.
These are the books I plan on reading next month. Just wanted to post before 12/1 so I could get some early bird points for #wintergames2021 😂

Thank you so do much @BookishMarginalia !! I love my #FallingForFallSwap so much! Priory of the Orange Tree and Black Sun have been on my TBR for a while and the cozy mysteries look really fun! And the autumn craft kits were such a fun addition! I feel wonderfully spoiled and this was such a nice treat today. Thank you, thank you! 💛
@Avanders
Thank you! @Avanders I love everything about the #fallingforfallswap you sent me. Can‘t wait to read those books. That blanket is so SOFT! I opened the box this morning and then hopped into the shower, when I came out my son and cat had already curled themselves up in it! My son has also claimed the hot cocoa! I wore of the pairs of socks today and the candle smells divine! Love it all!
Happy Fall Y‘all 🍁🍂🎃
Not a particulary fantasy story. 🌳

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it. Some will be old, some will be new - don't judge me, I have a lot of books.
Day 118th
Join the fun if you want!

Just finished Crooked Kingdom, now to start on this monster
This book was incredible! I kept seeing so much hype, and it totally lived up to it.
The world building was incredible with a well thought out history. Every character just came to life and really developed throughout this epic tale. The world truly came alive for me. The author did such a good job utilizing all the great locations she created, and the pacing was excellent. Everything just came together so well.
Ooooh thank you @TheAromaofBooks for such a wonderful #HappilyEverAfterSwap pkg!!! 💜🤍💗 I 💕 everything!! I love that copy of Daddy Long Legs 😍 & excited to read the other 2 too! Thank you @BookBosomed1 for the #HappilyEverAfterSwap care package. I love it and I'm not the only one. @Chrissyreadit
Yes there is magic in the world.
Still reading Priory... each scene is so tight as to be surgically taut but I find it leaves little room for heartwarming moments...
What is the general consensus in this one? I‘m angling toward 4 stars, 75% through...
I like to have multiple books on the go at once. These are my current reads, plus a few books on audible. Do you read more than one book at once or just focus on one book?
I was wildly unprepared for how massive and heavy this book is 🤣.
There is so much I love about this book - especially the female-centered societies and high fantasy world-building. I had put it off for a while due to its length, but it is a fast read and I didn‘t want it to end. My biggest criticism is there could have been so much more. The beginning has so much detail but then it seems to skip over so much toward the end. Still a recommended read though!
Great traditional fantasy of good vs evil. Great characters.
I only wish it was maybe a trilogy? Would have loved certain things to be expanded on eg.the whole Yscalin situation is a bit ignored & I‘dve enjoyed more time with Tane getting to know her dragon (maybe a mission with the sea guard before things go wrong). It felt like some important stuff happened offscreen. This reads like I‘m giving a bad review but I genuinely just wanted more!
So excited to read these new books that just came in
While I was on vacation camping I picked up two #QueerBooks I've been desperately wanting to read since forever at this cute little indie bookshop in Tofino called Mermaid Tales 🧜♀️📖
It‘s a beast of a book but it reads pretty fast. Lots of characters 🐲
Catching up on this weeks #SummerFunBucketList ☀️
Top left is my TBR stack #ReadingLater 📚
Top right is my currently reading/waiting to be finished stack including the tagged book on audio and Property of a Lady by Sarah Rayne on my library app #ReadingNow 📖
Bottom right is my #ReadingRainbow 🌈
I'm absolutely loving this novel! I can see why a lot of people have been hyping it up!
#top6reads
Here are my top six (actually eight because I couldn't narrow it down further!😁) books of the year so far! Mostly sci fi and fantasy because they're my favorite genres! 💕📚
You know what's really cool? 4 out of the 8 of these books have LGBTQ protagonists! 😍🏳️🌈💖
I wasn't tagged...I just really wanted to play! 😂🤣 Do you want to play also, @Meaw_catlady @DaveGreen7777 What are your top six favorite books of the year?
What a wonder and magnificent story! A wonderful standalone fantasy that has all aspects of a well done fantasy world, dragons magic strong female leads. It was a great read.
Ead and Tane, are the two heroines of this story and they are both so we'll written that at times you are cheering for both and at others your wondering what they are doing as the plat develops. Samantha Shannon is a wonderful writer!
It finally arrived! I cannot wait to start reading this chunky book! 🥰
Due to traveling, I have been a bit behind on the #ReadYourSign event, but I am home now and getting back into my normal routine. This is my most anticipated read for this month. It should fit a couple of prompts for #Scorpio. I don‘t have a specific #TBR for this challenge, so I am going to wing it and just try to pick books that will fit for the various prompts.
The first 52 pages of this book are wonderful. I think I am gonna thoroughly like this book. I am struggling with how to pronounce names and various words. #BuddyRead
This was the best high fantasy I‘ve read in a very long time! Definitely best of the last decade or more. Dragons, badass female protagonists, an epic that wraps up in ONE BOOK! It took me about 75 pages to get used to who was who and where and what was going on, but once I figured it out, I was hooked. If you like fantasy, pick this up! It‘s a tome, but worth it. Step aside, Brandon Sanderson. Give me Samantha Shannon all day.
Didn't get as much reading in as I would have like for my first day of #24B4Monday. But I'm caught up with my #PotterADay and I made some good progress with The Priory of the Orange Tree.
Tomorrow I'll do better.
@jb72 @Andrew65 @SumisBooks
Finally going to get back to this because me and my Beeminder coworkers are going to read it as a book club! We've always been remote workers, but it's still nice to think of extra stuff to bring us together.
