This short story by Nick Hornby was perfect fit for this genre. It centers around a couple who have been married for a while and who are attending marital counseling. ⁣
The story is 10 chapters long equaling 10 weeks in their lives. The book is short, less than 200 pages and it was a quick and easy read. This is the first Nick Hornby novel I have read but not the last.⁣

Whoa! I loved every minute of this twisty thriller that keeps you turning every page until the end. I won this book on a Goodreads giveaway and I‘m sure glad I was able to read it early! If you like suspenseful thrillers and dysfunctional family dramas, this is the book for you.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. It was greatly hyped and touted to be about the exploration of women's sexual desire. Unfortunately, I don't believe it lived up to what the writer intended. The women didn‘t come across as powerful but as victims to the men in their lives. Their stories left me sad and frustrated for them. I felt it was overly explicit which was completely unnecessary and actually took away from the three women's stories.

I don‘t usually read sci-fi but Blake Crouch‘s books are an exception. If you liked Dark Matter then you will love this one. I actually liked this book more than Dark Matter, although I found them similar enough. This book is very suspenseful and I read it fairly quickly waiting to see how it all worked out. I didn‘t have any trouble keeping the time lines straight and understood his explanations on what was happening.

A solid 4 star rating. I truly enjoyed this family saga about two neighboring family‘s and their story together. I liked every character in the novel which is always a plus for me. The story was very realistic including the reactions and growth of every character. This is more of a character driven novel and these novels always take longer for me to read than plot driven but I still looked forward to picking up this book.

It started off way to slow and took about 100 pages before the plot started picking up. There was definitely some suspenseful parts but the ending didn‘t pan out for me. The language the author used to describe nature was beautiful and lyrical and those who love nature and stories about survival in nature will love this book.

This book is only 1.99 today! I really liked this book. It is chick lit with a unique premise. The main character Molly finds herself full of angst when her boyfriend writes a book based on his past relationship. This book is the definition of a summer read. It is a quick novel that you can devour while sitting at the pool, or in my case, in the boat at the lake. ⁣

I am started to really love this series. Each book gets better and better. It always takes me a bit longer to read these novels then it does others but that‘s because they are complex and deep. There are no cheap thrills in these novels. I also love the recap at the end of each novel when the mystery is explained. It reminds me a little of the ending of the Scooby Doo cartoons 😆. I have never been able to guess the endings of these novels.⁣

I really liked this novel and it‘s complicated characters. The mother in law was equal parts infuriating and wise.
The plot was intriguing as well and kept me guessing until the end. I also loved the little nuggets of honesty about how fraught these relationships can be. I know that I will be thinking about this book for a long time. ⁣

I picked up this book because I loved the premise of this story about a novelist who‘s editor is Jackie. Unfortunately, it fell a little flat for me. I thought I would like the scenes of the book featuring Jackie O but I liked those the least. I was intrigued by the relationship between the main character and his mother but that didn‘t get examined enough for my preference.

This is an incredibly moving thriller, mystery, family drama, ect. There are so many themes in this debut novel by Angie Kim that it cannot be described with just one. It‘s a story about how far parents will go for their children and the lies told between spouses. It‘s also a courtroom drama that will keep you turning the pages.

Wow! I just finished it and loved it. It feels like a completely original story even though there is nothing really unique about it. I loved the characters and their relationship. This story rang very true to life for me and I know it will be a book I think back on often.

This is my first Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie novel which also happens to be her debut novel. The story revolves around many themes; oppression, class warfare, life under a military regime, religious fanaticism, domestic violence, and family bonds. Adichie masters the art of portraying these themes without 'telling' the reader but showing us through the characters. I look forward to reading more of Adichie's novels.

I absolutely loved this memoir of a therapist in need of her own therapist. The memoir is filled with stories about her sessions with clients as well as her own stories of her experiencing the other side of therapy. I became invested in her clients lives and cried for their pain. I was very moved by the reality that life is painful and beautiful all at the same time and we are all struggling to live our best lives.

This is a charming and clever memoir about marriage. Ada Calhoun writes very honestly about her own marriage and provides examples & advice from other long time married couples. The old adage on how to stay married is to 'not get divorced' is both true and over simplified in the examples. I enjoyed listening to Ms. Calhoun read the various stories about her marriage.

I loved this memoir from Dani Shapiro. It is not a spoiler to reveal that the entire book focuses on Ms. Shapiro's shocking results from her DNA test from Ancestry. As a result of the DNA test, she discovers that her father is not her biological father. This discovery is complicated by the fact that her parents are deceased and she can‘t ask them about it. It‘s a thought provoking and heartfelt memoir.

This was a heartbreaking memoir to read on 20th Anniversary of the Columbine school shooting. My heartbreaks for Sue, who had no idea her son was capable of committing such a horrific crime. She recounts their family life and the days and months leading up and following the shooting. She ends the memoir with a focus on mental health. It is definitely an eye opener for parents. She encourages parents to search deeper and ask harder questions.

I give this book a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ half ⭐️‘s. The novel is about 4 siblings: 3 sisters & 1 brother, and how they deal with the ramifications of one of the sisters being sent to prison. The remaining sisters are left to raise the daughters left behind. The story delves into the present and past to discover how each character has come to be in their current circumstance. This is a good pick if you are looking for a dynamic family drama.

The entire time I was reading it, I felt like I was reading an actual interview about a real band.
