I got one last Gamache re-read in before I dive into Grey Wolf. This is the last one before the 💩really hits the fan. The ending still shocks me to this day. #FoodAndLit #Canada

5th in the series & so far this is the 1 I have enjoyed the most! I‘m eager to continue the series. I liked that there was more focus on the investigation earlier on. Even though it was the longest 1 yet, it didn‘t feel that way while listening! If you liked the previous in the series, you will definitely enjoy this 1!
Gamache, Beauvoir and LaCoste are back in Three Pines investigating the murder of the “Hermit“. A lot of character building in this one - Olivier and Gabri, Peter and Clara, Myrna, and Ruth in particular. (Peter is awful - his jealousy, insecurity, there is something off about him). The case doesn‘t feel finished, I think there is more to come. Overall an excellent read.

Make a great day everyone 😊
(2009) Fifth in the Inspector Gamache/The Pines series of cozy mysteries, and an audiobook for a long drive. Very mixed feelings about this: I loved so much of it from its deliberate pace, its exploration of the ways human beings hurt those we love, and its mining of character good and bad. I was very unsatisfied with the resolution, which feels premature: the plot feels like it needs at least one more round of revelations, and also with (spoiler)

Today‘s Prompt: LEAVES
It‘s a good one by Louse Penny.
Seriously - anyone with any sense should definitely avoid Three Pines. It does not matter how picturesque it is 😂
These books definitely push the boundaries of believability and the motivations of humans, and all the characters are that little bit *extra* including the too-perfect Gamache… and yet I can‘t stop reading. Delightful for a cold afternoon.
I ❤️ Inspector Gamache and Louise Penny for bringing him to life. Perfect September read
It‘s a good reading in the sun day

Number 5 of the Three Pines series was a dark tale of secrets and regret. I have a feeling this plotline isn't over yet. The books just keep getting better and better! And yes, it's fireplace weather today, with wind and snow ❄️🌨 Nevermind that it hit 80° last week ☀️ 🙄
Not the usual cozy mystery of this series. I had sadness and discomfort at the end.

44/22If what you fell in love with in book one was the people by this point you might be starting to feel a bit sad. I‘m really enjoying working my way through this series. But it‘s not going the way I thought it would!🌲🌲🌲
Book 5 in the #Gamache series was brutal indeed. Very personal to our #ThreePines residents and some favorite folk will never be the same. One of the best ones so far, for sure.
1. This one is a little bittersweet due to the outcome of the case…
2. It‘s the only season with its own scent.
3. So autumnal it‘s ridiculous.

Another great Inspector Gamache mystery set in Three Pines. This one seemed a bit sadder and more personal to the inhabitants of Three Pines, and also with a lengthier back story to the events that took place.
Penny is a masterful storyteller, and in this installment of the Chief Inspector Gamache series, she adds so much darkness to the storyline. This one is a lot heavier than the others thus far in the series. And yet, there are aspects that are achingly beautiful, touching on human imperfections and the turn of a phrase that brings tears to the eyes. So well done.
I like how this one came together, and I like the juxtaposition of comfort and threat. It's still strange that there's so much murder in this little town, but I like how Penny and her characters acknowledge this. There's not much else I can say without potentially spoiling things, so I'll leave it at that.
Well, well, well. Look what popped up from my holds queue 15 minutes before I need to start cooking dinner. Providential timing!
This is maybe my second favorite after the first. I loved the art and the creepy bits. It ended in a way that I didn't expect and maybe not in a way that was fun for me, bit I liked it very much all the same
Oh, I loved this book. I waited to read it over Labor Day Weekend, when it‘s set, and I‘m so glad I did. And I didn‘t rush through it. These books are meant to be savored. I‘ve seen other reviewers say this is when the series really starts, and I‘m starting to see why. Lyrical and lovely, sad and terrifying, and at times so very, very funny.
The pic is of the moonrise from our campsite at the bottom of our hill a few nights ago.

I love returning back to Three Pines and just savor every book. Penny has the magic to slow time, and it just feels like a casual stroll through the world she creates, albeit with murder, but oh well!
This morning, I have a rare opportunity of all four of my boys together with me. Today also marks the 10th Gotcha Anniversary for #Zeke . I cannot believe it was 10 years ago I found him as a tiny kitten in my car engine. Love my reading buddies!
The fifth book in this entertaining series. This one is set at Labor Day.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️
Mooooore Three Pines!
Completely Unexpected. Excellent as always.
While this was not my favorite book in the Detective Gamache series, I still enjoyed it. I appreciated the history interwoven throughout. The author based the book on a real-life Canadian artist, her work on Haida Gwaii, and the people native to those islands. I recommend this series for readers who enjoy both mysteries and cozy small-town plots.
Back to Quebec on this chilly day.
Back in Three Pines and in the park getting some vitamin D. Take it away Gamache.
My least favorite book from my favorite series is still good. In this one a body is found in the Bistro and Gamache has to treat his friends as suspects. #ReadYourSign #Leo 5th in a series
I felt let down by the end.
Hoping to finish this while my husband and son are in the chiropractors office. #Waitingroomreading has definitely changed.
This is how I hope to spend the rest of my night. Reading with relaxing, beach, thunderstorm sounds in the background.
Great mystery, lots of twists and turns and though I didn‘t love the ending, it was a surprise! I love this series and was happy to be back in Three Pines for 500 pages.
Reading my new book in my new outdoor chair. Lovely day to be outside!
Trying to remain calm and relaxed. I was laid off this week. My school cut 14 people. With vague hope to be rehired in September. No more working from home so I have plenty of time to read. Starting in on Three Pines #5. #stayhome #staycalm #unemployed
Another book down, another book to start. Beginning tagged book. Review of The Little Prince will be posted later. #StayHome24in48 #24in48
I feel like this book is where the series really starts picking up! I still don't think Louise Penny is the best mystery writer out there (although I don't read much mystery, admittedly), I'm sticking around because I love her characters and Three Pines.
Notwithstanding the fact that I was reading the tagged book on my Kindle at 3 AM recently, one of my goals for #BFCr4 is to turn off all screens one hour before bed.

In keeping with my plan to read these in the season in which they‘re set, I should have read this about a month ago. But it wasn‘t available then! I‘m ignoring everything else on my #OctoberTBR so I can return it early for the next patron in line and while we‘re still kinda sorta in that summer-to-fall transition time. I‘m just a few chapters in, and already I want to punch Beauvoir in the face. Again. Does he eventually get nicer? #fallisbooked
I am enjoying this series so much! The town of Three Pines and its inhabitants are so interesting! I enjoy the mix of "whodunit" along with tidbits of history, poetry and even cooking. I cannot wait to read the next book!
