This was much darker than I expected! Really speaks to the heart of “diet culture” and how it slots in to the male gaze/misogyny. Not for the faint of heart.
And yes, that‘s my work desk. Solidarity. 😆💪🏻🤷🏻♀️

Book mail makes any day better!!!
Thanks @runswithscissors007 ! Especially for the post card it's so beautiful!!!! Do you want me to pass BHPB back to you when I finish? That was so thoughtful of you!! Feel so loved ☺️
I am anxious to get into Dietland because from the reviews of you guys, I feel I will love it or hate it! #lmpbc #teamcanada @FantasyChick @BookishTrish @ShelleyBooksie
These arrived on the same day!! #lpmbc 🖤💚🖤. You are all gems! Just glanced at the mark ups and can‘t wait to peruse them a bit more.
Thanks for all the fun! Looking forward to one more after Dietland!
Would definitely recommend joining #lpmbc. So fun! And love that there is a Canadian option!
Ps... the chocolate was eaten in the car...before a pic could be taken. 😬😬😬😬.
This book made me mad! The main character is not a very nice person. She sees no good in others, judges others extremely harshly and then is defensive when others judge her. The author makes everyone in this book who looks "normal" into nasty people and portrays only those with scars or other physical anomalies as caring. As a woman of size myself, sure there are mean people in the world - but there are plenty of wonderful ones too!

My all hallows swap package went out in the mail today. I also received my package on Friday. @MaleficentBookDragon , @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego
You have no idea how badly I wish we were in the same room discussing this book because I have thoughts and words and none of them are good
I'm sorry but I hated this book. I mean, it started out ok but between the piss poor, self sabotage attitude, the sick vigilante feminist wannabes and the general bullshit of people and the world in general - I just can't. I get the message but it needs a better messenger.
Hope you all have a better time
I had much more important things to do today than sit and read but now that we all got some fresh ocean air, it's time to order out and relax for the night. I'm behind on my #LMPBC reads so diving into the tagged one tonight!
Happy Friday Littens 😊😊😊

Is this book comically extreme? Yes. Does it still have good message? Yes.
According to a documentary I watched, 40% of porn depicts violence against women. In this book, turning the violence towards the men is interesting, if not the correct approach.
My fav plus size blogger took to Insta to talk about health and how there‘s camp “weight loss” and camp “eat whatever” in the community, and I agree. She said, ignore that, choose health, ⬇️
Some parts of the book feel like getting off into the weeds, but things do come together and make more sense later. There's so much in this book that is relatable - or heartbreaking, depending - as a fat babe.
I had high hopes for this book but it was a little #disappointing. It was touted as a great feminist novel, and it started strongly, with humorous attacks on the diet and beauty industries, but a poorly developed sub-plot in the second half, and a move toward almost misandry, suggests the author is not yet ready to execute the Great Feminist Novel.

At the 25% mark, I wasn't sure if I was going to finish it, but the story was just intriguing enough to hold my interest. I devoured the last half of the book and was completely drawn in by Plum's life and transformation!
Eh. I really liked parts of this and was really bored in others. I wanted to love it, but I don't. Plum was extreme. Leeta was my favorite but not the on a lot of the book. I feel nothing but bland feelings for this.

This week has been crazy busy. The picture shows my yoga time this morning. I will do a night time cool down yoga tonight.
30minutes/ 4days walking
30ish minutes/2 days yoga
4 of 6 books completed during challenge, with 3 more almost finished.
#BFCr2 @wanderinglynn
I also just signed up for round 3.
Yoga with this guy was not easy, as you can see in the picture, he never stops moving. Every position change I made was a game for him. Downward dog has a new meaning when an actual dog is in the picture. I had no kids but #atticus2016 was worse than kids. Oh well, hips stretched, next walking. #BFCr2 @wanderinglynn
This is the most fun, I have had working out, yet. It is not on my list and I still have 5 minutes let to complete 30 minutes, but I just had a silly dance party with my kids. We moved, we laughed. It was a great time! I will make up the rest with some yoga later. Happy Wednesday! #BFCr2 @wanderinglynn
Reading, and this little girl climbed in my lap, instantly falling to sleep. #Cindercat #catsoflitsy
All my electronic holds came in & I began plowing without thinking. This book took me by surprise as all I noticed from the cover was the cupcake. I‘m minding my own business as summer swim 🏊🏼♀️ begins & boom! 💥 Yowza! That story took a turn.
I'm actually flying through this. First book of the year that hasn't been a struggle...and then I hit the wall.
The first half was good, so many places for Plum to go and grow, then it was a slog
#TheWeight was the catalyst for the action in this book. #TimBitTunes
Thanks so much for the lovely #KindLitsy book, @britt_brooke — This one has been on my radar for a long time!
(Funny thing — when I went to claim it, it turns out I already own it! I was quite shocked; for the life of me I don‘t remember ever buying it! So, I‘ll be getting a gift credit and choosing another TBR book in your name — I‘ll keep you posted! In the meantime, Dietland gets bumped up the reading schedule. Thank you! 💜💜💜)
Eeeee, I received this excellent #KindLitsy gift from @britt_brooke and couldn‘t be more pleased! Thanks so much for the gratitude, Brooke; I sure do love Litsy, and doing my best to make it what we all want it to be 💜🤓📚 Thank you so much, can‘t wait to read this one! @kindlitsy
Lovin this book so far!! Kobo says I‘m about 25% in, and I‘ve got three days to finish! Gotta watch the show!!
You guys! #kindlitsy has been a bigger project than I expected, and boy are you generous! Thanks for these reads, @Daisey @britt_brooke @Butterfinger @JoScho 📚❤️
3.5 or 4 ⭐ for me. Reminded me a lot of V for Vendetta, for the way a character is recalibrated from societal norms (in this case, cultural control of women's bodies, e.g. beauty/fashion/weight loss industry, male gaze, etc.) via a tortuous process. But the blurb compares it to Fight Club and the author includes Fight Club in the acknowledgements. I've only seen the movie, but I didn't see much similarity... 🤷♀️ maybe I should read the book.
This was good. Unexpected. I was glad that ending wasn't a cliche Hollywood type thing where the main character realizes every dream and lives happily ever after. I haven't watched the series. Is it any good?
Not really a genre I read but it has good reviews and only 98p for Kindle at the momen
Based on the title alone, I would not normally chose this to read. However, after many 👍 from littens I love, I decided to shelve my judgement and take a listen. And guess what...it‘s so much more than the title lets on and seems an important and timely read.
#NeverJudgeABookByItscover
Considering what is happening in this country right now- I‘m finding this book quite satisfying
Next read and I‘m about halfway. The premise is good and is definitely fun to read #feministlit in fiction and not just the usual nonfiction. I love Plum and I think she is such a whole character, she is so many women I know and love. I can‘t wait to see how her story progresses. #Dietland #SaraiWalker
Ok- is it wrong to say I felt a little like being a Jennifer would feel empowering? Wrong, yes but there is something cathartic about a revenge scenario! Loved Plum and the women of Caliope House. The return of power and freedom to those who have been without it for so long. Not the fluffy read I had assumed it was by the title- so much more!! Loved! Also the shout out on the p**** blacklist to my pig of a US Representative DeJarlais was nice!
Ok @britt_brooke you recommended this one I recall? Found it when returning Sabrina so picked it up!
Plum Kettle just wants to stay under the radar and not be noticed. Despite years of dieting, she is still overweight. She dreams of the day she can finally undergo bariatric surgery and drop the weight. Then she‘ll start her real life.
Meanwhile, bad men start disappearing. Their bodies turn up and an organization known only as Jennifer takes credit. Jennifer is every woman terrorized by rape culture. And she‘s pissed.
