Oh my gosh, I absolutely loved this book. I‘m so distraught knowing it will likely be a while before I fall so hard for another.

I picked up this book because i grew up in Haverhill, Massachusetts and southern NH, the setting of this true event. Although I knew of the deplorable treatment of the Native Americans, by the English, this book is shocking. My heart is racing whilst reading. Lies, deceit, betrayal.. just heart wrenching. It really makes me ashamed to have white skin. The book is fantastic, though tough to read.
I loved this book so much. Heartbreaking for sure, but also a beautiful story about family.
I‘ve had this book for probably two years, and finally read it. I loved it deeply. Whole heartedly. Devastated to be finished. 😢
I LOVE this book. Not quite finished, page 411/588, but so far.. ❤️❤️❤️
Listened to this on audio and it was incredible! I loved it.
Next up! I‘ve had this one for awhile! Time to give it some ❤️.
Next up! My first Hemingway! I know, I know.. 😬
My husband just sent me this picture of us at my best friend‘s house. The first thing I noticed is the bookshelves in the background and what a waste of space! No books! My bestie is more of a reality tv show kind of gal. 😉
Next up, something “lighter”, or where less brain work is required, at least. I‘m hoping for a fun, plot driven page turner. A BOTM I‘ve had for a while. Looking forward to an hour of fun before having to get ready for work. 🤗
This was a tough one for me. At times fascinating, like when describing a mantis laying eggs, or observing a muskrat. The pages of rambling consciousness, however, I could do without and found myself skipping paragraphs, which I never do. I appreciate the beautiful and brilliant writing, and after listening to her interviews, Annie Dillard herself. She is such a cool and humble woman. And to think she wrote this at 27?! I had to give it a pick.
Does anyone know why Book of the Month hasn‘t been including any nonfiction lately?
*The Snowman by Jo Nesbit, but then never saw the movie because I heard it was terrible.
*Book I bought recently because of the cover is The Silk Roads.
*i lived up the street from John Belairs, who wrote The House With the Clock In It‘s Walls, and he yelled at all the neighborhood kids because we bombed his son with cupcakes. (In a fun way, not a mean way)
* Can‘t think of anything here..
Already learning what a _____ Columbus was.
I know people love this book, but honestly, I don‘t think I got it. I‘m not a fan of bizarre, so it just wasn‘t for me. I always feel bad saying bad things about a book. People work hard on them!
Only a chapter or two in, but wow, engrossing.
Had this one for awhile. Heard it‘s great and excited to learn about it!
#GimmeGimme I read this book to my 5th graders every year. A great discussion about growing up, and how relationships are not constant.
This book was so interesting! I learned a ton about geography, politics, history, and how it‘s all connected. A must read in my eyes.
Ugh... so sad. My heart is heavy. 😞
Instead of planning while my students are at lunch, I‘m going to read! 🤗 I can Definitely tell this book was written in the 40s, revised again in the 70s and finally 2014, but— the authors refer to all writers as “he” and businesspeople as “businessmen”. 🙄
I remember loving this movie when I was a kid, but have never read the book. Found this old hardback with deckled pages at a used book store. It‘s beautiful.
This book was incredible. Such a page turner, and so well written! I loved learning about the history of this fascinating hospital, medicine and Ny! Read it. So good.
Ok, I liked it. But—- the ending! What a disappointment! 😢
I cried when read the letter Captain Wentworth wrote to Anne. I loved this book so much.
Words can‘t express how much I loved this book. Loved. Loved. Loved. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Still reading, but oh my gosh, I absolutely adore this book!!
Fascinating book about geopolitics!
Just started this one this am, but Fredrick never disappoints!!
Finally reading this one!!
I‘ve been living in Southern California for about 20 years now, but still desperately miss NH this time of year and always feel the holidays are not the same out here. Having said that, I love reading books set during Thanksgiving and Christmas, especially when set in places with weather. (Leaves changing, snow...etc) any good book recommendations for books set during holidays? Thanks!!
My favorite time of year is Autumn so I can hardly wait to sink my teeth into all that is creepy and macabre. Rattle, from what I hear, is one of those books.
First of his, but hubby liked it and heard about it on a podcast recently. Excited to see the movie in October!
So far I'm just EH-- about this book. After hearing high praise and listening to Jamie being interviewed on various podcasts, I was excited to read it. I really liked her and was hoping for a good one. Maybe I'll like it more as I progress?
Anyone in San Diego going to The San Diego Festival of Books? It's the first one and I'm very excited!
I'm only 1/3 in but so far loving hearing about Pamela's life with books. Especially how they influenced her childhood in the 70s and 80s since I too grew up at that time. It's fun to hear her mention titles of so many books from my teen years. She's such a cool woman.
Chose this book for the Litsy reading challenge, "Judged by the cover", because it immediately grabbed my attention when I saw it at the bookstore. Less than 20 pages in and I'm already hooked. Jung Yun's writing really sets the tone and place. Amazing.
Finally getting to this one. My husband has been wanting to watch the movie, but I didn't want to watch it until I read the book. So far so good!
