Meet Augustus…..my eldest found him outside very emaciated. So we have taken him in, set him up a nice home and are feeding him yummy crickets. He is easily handled too and very friendly.

Butterfinger Wow!!!! I'm the only one in my family who is not afraid of spiders. 5d
Texreader Awww. Spiders are our friends. I don‘t think I could be nearly as friendly as you but I‘ve always tried to save them from people who‘d rather do otherwise. They do so much good. Way to go! 5d
Darklunarose @Butterfinger until recently I had serious arachnophobia after I was bitten bad many years ago. My daughter is the spood whisperer and is holding auggie here! (edited) 5d

Darklunarose @Texreader it‘s my daughter Macy holding him, she has always been the spood handler! 5d
thegreensofa Nice, 😊 🖤 5d
LiseWorks Eewwwwe, I knew there was skin under there. Spiders bite me all the time, unknown and unseen. Thank God I live in a country where there are no poison ones. 5d
Butterfinger Auggie is beautiful. 5d
Darklunarose @LiseWorks I used to be the same. These guys dint tend to bite.they are pretty friendly. The are highly intelligent too. A concept of numbers like a toddler, they dream and they recognise their owners voice vibrations. They are also highly curious. But yeah, I used to have severe arachnophobia after being bitten by some kind of spood many years ago. It‘s sometimes hard to get over, auggie is also less them 1cm. 4d

Finally finished today. I have deliberately taken my time reading this as war is such a heavy topic for me. I did enjoy it, but was unaware of any controversy surrounding it until today when I was talking about it with my art therapist (who often asks me what I am reading and she looked the story up).

We are having a hard 24 hours here. Yesterday we lost this baby girl, Midnight. She was our last rat. We have had rats non stop pretty much for 19 years. We are not getting any more as with my husband unwell everyone is taking on so much. Then when my husband was cleaning our ladies out (mice) we noticed our Sage who was 2 had passed. She was fine the day before. It‘s the end of our rattie era. I‘m going to miss them

Darklunarose @willaful I‘m looking forward to it! She had the triple whammy of autism mixed with severe anxiety and a virus. Doesn‘t make for a great night. We have learned to make accomodations to make it easier over the last 20 years but this year it just mixed bad. She is asleep now so have put her lunch in the fridge. Sleeps more important. 4w
willaful I hope she wakes up feeling better.

My daughter is also autistic and anxious; it does get exhausting at times! But she's the apple of my eye.
4w
Darklunarose @willaful exhausting for sure. But amazing.we are one of those families where the kids got diagnoised, parents ticked their boxes and went well…maybe we are too..so we sort a diagnosis for us. Then my mum goes “but I do that stuff too”…yeah mum there‘s a reason for that…she is diagnoised now too. It‘s genetic on both sides! But youngest, she suffers the hardest at times, 4w
willaful @Darklunarose OMG, are you me?! Exactly the same story here! Down to my mom, though she's only self-diagnosed. At 80 she didn't feel the need to do more. 😂 4w
Darklunarose @willaful it seems to happen a lot. They didn‘t know as much back then, and when our parents were kids they just didn‘t have a clue. Mum is in her 70s here now. Self diagnosis is valid! Your mum is one of us! 4w
ncsufoxes Sending hugs & support…mom of an Autistic teen with severe anxiety, OCD, & several other diagnoses. The holidays are hard here, too many transitions & uncertainty for him. He sleeps (currently) but we seem to finally have found the medication combo that works for him (for now because we know it could change with age). We have adapted to his needs over the holidays to make it workable for our family (just immediate no extended come over). 4w
willaful @ncsufoxes Sending you a hug too. 4w
Darklunarose @ncsufoxes ❤️ that sounds like we do. Adapt, adapt, adapt. Only my mum comes. We used to do parties etc when she was tiny but it just wasn‘t worth it. She has a great mix of meds but there are times it just doesn‘t cut it. Over time things can plateau. But fingers crossed you guys won‘t have to worry about that for quite a while. 4w

I truely loved reading this book by Densey Clyne. It was published one year before she passed and reading her words you can feel the enthusiasm she had for the life of the macro all around her. I had not realised she has passed, she was part of my childhood being on tv a bit and she made a lasting impression on me.

I might have developed an appreciation for entomology but this guy was not welcome in the car today! We believe it‘s a hawk wasp (huntsman hawk) and apparently can be aggressive. With a sting the most painful of wasps (so he can immobilise huntsman) He was not welcome to buzz at my head!

KAO Yikes!! 1mo
TEArificbooks Nope, I‘m out 1mo
ImperfectCJ My friend's son had a goal of being stung by one of these (we called them tarantula hawks in Utah), just so he could see what it felt like. He was about 10 at the time. We had cicada-killer wasps in Massachusetts. They're supposed to be mostly docile, but I still kept my distance. I would be very anxious if either of these approached me. 1mo

Darklunarose @ImperfectCJ I admit to not being impressed it was buzzing round my head. I saw the tarantula wasps when someone online thought this might be one. Very very similar 1mo
