Yeah i might not be salems favourite tonight!
We have organic vegetables in our front and back yard….maybe it‘s time to see what flowers each might enjoy the company of.
From keeping chickens, to sustainable gardening to how to clean without a ton of nasty chemicals. This book is brilliant.
Gave this one a few days but really couldn‘t get into the story.
Fingers crossed. I really need a good vampire romance.
Reading these books on indoor plants is torture…cause I can‘t have them and I see all these gorgeous indoor beauties. Yes some are safe for cats, but Salem would shred them!
Couldn‘t really get into this one. I think it was me, not the book. I‘m so fussy with stories.
I‘m giving up on this one…not because it was no good but because I have been trying to listen to the audio book for well over a year and I just can not for the life of me find the time to do so. I always have to have an ear out here…it‘s hard to relax when I can‘t hear what‘s happening in case I‘m needed.
A short book with lots of ideas on what to plant in your garden along with structures that might attract your local wildlife. I really want a pond now, but there is no way I can keep up the maintenance of one.
Going to give this a go……
I loved reading this book but I know a kitchen garden like the ones the author creates is just not for me. I love a big rambling vegetable garden.@I‘m not one for aesthetic or neat….i love the beauty of chaos! But I learned a lot from this book and plan to use a few ideas in our organic garden.
I gave it a good try. But I struggle with religious stuff and starting the book with a religious quote possibly made me not really enjoy it,
Our rescue, Barde. He is doing better. We made it to the vet yesterday. No growls or hisses or scratches or bites ( he was so scared the other day). Gabapentin to calm him, pain relief and antibiotics for the abscess on his face from cat fight injury. We have been able to pat him with no gloves, he is so scared but doesn‘t hurt us or hiss. He meows a lot. We have a long road but we made a promise to him.
Some good ideas in this book too. Some RAOK, some ideas for ways to quieter your mind (nature! My favourite is one) and some good recipes.
I really do love the idea of having a house full of greenery….but not with these kitties, especially Salem who will eat and chew anything and everything.
I have been waiting 12 weeks for this one to come in from the library. Looking forward to starting it tomorrow.
It‘s interesting that I started reading this before our house hold spending had to be cut really tight (last months vet bills). I enjoyed reading Cari‘s story, and how she went about learning to be a more mindful consumer. Something I myself am learning to do.
Miss Adele has completely crashed! Tomorrow I‘ll start this hook. Here‘s to a calmer day all round. My daughter didn‘t need surgery but was given Iv antibiotics. Her hand is looking a bit better today. Her eye is black though but she is lucky. My son has a second antibiotic to add to the first he is taking.
Ent us move forward from here. barde licked at his food tonight. I‘m hoping some meds got in him.
I really enjoyed reading this book. There are some nice little ideas on simplifying life, being in nature and nurturing one‘s self inside.
Back at urgent care with my son as his hand is pretty infected and he has a fever. Good news is Barde is meowing at us again today. Still not eating but that‘s normal. Kids would do it again to save him too. :)
Our little stay got into a fight with the neighbours cat. We trapped him this morning as he needs med treatment and we were gonna have to eventually anyway as we are keeping him. Now we are in the ER and my daughter needs possible surgery from being bitten. Long story, it was so hard getting him from trap to crate. And our poor Barde hates us but is now safe in a crate inside. Keep us all in your thoughts.
Tomorrow…I shall try this one.
I really did give this one a fair go. I think what made it a bit boring for me is that in the first half she is focusing a lot on design…and I am not really a design person.
It‘s too hot for the park today so we are going to a cafe…..this is the book I‘m taking to start. Crossing everything for cooler weather from this weekend. It‘s not normal to have mid 30s for the second month of autumn.
Plenty of good ideas here. I kept finding myself taking photos and sending them to my eldest child (she helps with a load of housework here).
About to start this one.
Can I just say how much I adore Christopher Dells books. They are so full of art. They are just beautiful.
This is what using a local library has saved me so far this year……
Because I enjoyed the first one I am going to read this one as well.
If I learned one thing from this it would be…..a lot of plants are more dangerous, especially for our furry friends, then I would have thought. So many toxic (especially mildly toxic) plants…..so I think I,l stick to fake ones inside.
Well I loved his book on the occult, and his book on monsters….so why not!
A rare 5 star from me.@loved the book (though not lots of information) and the paintings and art that was included. A very quick read too.
To start tomorrow.
Want to keep warm? drink lots of warm tea, wear beanies AND check for droughts and block them…..
Lots of advise on gardening and lots of recipes ro use up garden produce including carrot tops and dandelions!
Overall very informative book.
My next bedtime read.
I really enjoyed reading this book.while I don‘t think I could live a full zen life I know I incorporate a few ideas. My love of nature and need to be in natural areas for one.
My not so calm and collected reading buddy. He is tired. And when he is tired his demons take the wheel and he likes to play “scratch and bite”. He really is like an over tired toddler who should have taken a nap half an hour ago.
Going on with this now.
As the weather FINALLY cools I‘m seeking more time in nature, and my garden, and the kitchen. Here‘s to finding more inspiration
I wasn‘t sure wether to “so-so” this or to “pan” it. I was 3/4 the way through when the author became very anti modern medicine…..and that just isn‘t good. If you need anti depressants etc there is nothing wrong with that. If you choose not to that‘s ok too. But anti depressants save lives. It‘s as simple as that. So for that reason I can‘t give this book a “pick”
