Dewey‘s 24-Hour Readathon is always meant to be fun, not stressful, and I find the Reverse Readathon an excellent reminder of that. I keep it casual with some snacks, some books I dip in and out of between other projects (today‘s big ones: tech maintenance and sewing), and less social media than during the April and October ‘thons.

Do you go all out during the Reverse Readathon, or do you chill a bit? #deweyjuly #DeweysRR2023

We‘re midway through Hour 4! How‘s the Reverse Readathon treating you so far? It‘s bedtime in my part of the world, but I‘ll be up a while longer with THE BOOK OF RAIN by Thomas Wharton and at least one of the comics from my stack! #deweyjuly #deweysrr2023

We‘re a mere 40 minutes out from the Reverse Readathon‘s official start time! I‘ll be a little quieter tonight since I‘ve got a standing Friday evening thing and I‘m in one of the time zones where most of the Readathon happens at night, but I‘ll check in on the hashtags whenever I can and I‘ll make sure y‘all have some more active coverage tomorrow! And of course, the Readathon has lots of other social media for updates. #deweyjuly #deweysrr2023

Have you assembled your Reverse Readathon stack? I‘ve decided to focus on a Readathon classic: comics, with whatever novel I‘m reading tomorrow on the side! #deweyjuly #DeweysRR2023

The Reverse Readathon, a special edition of Dewey‘s 24-Hour Readathon geared towards people in time zones where the usual start time is, shall we say, rather poopy, is coming up fast! Join us on Friday, July 21st, starting at 7pm Central time. Read a bunch; maybe do some challenges (like this hourly photo prompt); eat some snacks; post about it on social media whenever the mood strikes you. #deweyjuly #deweysrr2023

And so we reach the end of another intense Readathon! I was wide awake until midway through Hour 20, when the dreaded Crash came. Looks like plenty of you were in the same boat, but we all logged a bunch of hours and finished some great books before the end came. Go us!

Stay tuned for the next Readathon‘s epic date announcement. #deweyapril #readathon

Look at that; it‘s already Hour 18! Are you still going strong, or do you need a break? I‘m sure some of y‘all are in time zones where you‘ve just woken up after a not-so-full night‘s rest, ready to read some more.

I just finished this retro Sweet Valley thriller (100% predictable and ridiculous, but still fun), and I‘m trying to decide whether to whip through a childhood fave or start something longer. Hmmm…. #deweyapril #readathon

We‘re halfway through, y‘all! Or we will be at the end of this hour. Congratulations to everyone who‘s made it this far.

Me, I‘m in the homestretch with the novel I had in progress when the event began. I‘m gonna polish it off, then dig into some comics while I eat supper and recharge my iPad. #deweyapril #readathon

It‘s Hour 7, friends! I‘m so glad I went out to Canadian Independent Bookstore Day, even though it meant a fairly long reading break. I bought some cool stuff and got great freebies!

How many of you stopped in at your local indie bookstores today? What did you get? #readathon #deweyapril

CogsOfEncouragement I stopped in to pick up titles for their upcoming book club and decided I needed the bag too. 12mo

It‘s Hour 3, Readathonners! How‘s everyone doing?

I‘ve read my daily short story (from THE OCTOPUS HAS THREE HEARTS by Rachel Rose) and a goodly chunk of the novel I hope to finish today (EMBER AND ASH by Pamela Freeman). Now I‘m about to take a wee break to get some exercise and attend Canadian Independent Bookstore Day, with a probable stop-off for tea & comics! #deweyapril #readathon

Do you have any Readathon traditions? I always like to cook sausages at Hour 18, which is midnight my time. Midnight Sausages have become such an important part of my Readathon that I make sure I‘ve got some in my freezer come April and October, ready to whip out and fry up.

I read while I cook ‘em, of course. These two and their egg (a new addition) took me ALMOST to the end of another volume of my favourite manga. #deweyoct #readathon

melissajayne I always order pizza for dinner, unless I am with my parents. And I always get a family sized package of red licorice (usually Twizzlers). 1y

IT‘S HOUR 16, BABY! (Unless I counted wrong.) THIS IS THE POINT IN THE READATHON WHERE I START THINKING IN ALL CAPS. BOOKS ARE GREAT. READERS ARE GREAT. EVERYTHING IS GREATGREATGREAT.

I‘m back at my own place right now, with my own dog (who won‘t keep his head still enough for my iPad‘s not-so-great camera), and I‘m looking forward to some more hilariously bad Sweet Valley, another volume of SKIP BEAT!, and maybe a bit of Kate Elliott. #deweyoct

Hour 8. My goodness.

Who‘s still going strong? Who‘s tiiiiiired? Who‘s amazed at how much reading time they‘ve managed to log, or how little? I‘ve only just finished my first full book after almost four and a half hours, but I did squeeze in a decent amount of audio time, some nonfiction, and a novelette. Good times. #deweyoct #readathon

Caterina It turns out I don't read as much when I live with my husband whom I adore and want to spend quality time with (vs. living alone). I'm loving the reading I'm getting in today, along with the quality time with him 🥰 1y
melissajayne I‘m doing ok; needed some caffeine to wake me up a bit. 1y

If your timezone is like mine, you‘ve probably just woken up from a refreshing sleep. If you live elsewhere, maybe you‘re about ready to cap off twelve hours of intense reading with a small break. Either way, let me know how the Readathon‘s going for you!

Maria514626 Good morning! Yesterday I pushed ahead, then abandoned one book (an #arc 😬). I‘m reading and looking forward to Spies of the Balkans. Interruptions: sleep and writing a rant/review about the book I abandoned. Distractions this morning: the Wordle and the NYT crossword (why do I try on Saturdays? 🤦‍♀️). 2y
