“Spy x Family” was an absolute delight. Despite there being a serious mission, this volume is full of humor and lovable characters. I can‘t wait to read the next book in this series!

I paused with #BookishMonopoly for a couple of months, because I landed on "e-book" and I had a certain one in mind. But I never got around to read that 700 pages chunkster, so I move on and decided to go with SpyxFamily instead ? Just got volume 2 and will rather read this, than waiting for another two months...

Now I'm also joining the club, after everyone has told me how awesome this series is. And I wouldn't have read it if it wasn't for @VaniBarelyReads ❤
But yeah, what else should I say that hasn't already been said? That I like some of the Italian translations better than the English ones? 😁 Perfect reading material after a long day at work.
My youngest son, Patrick suggested this magna series to me. I am trying to read more books in this genre and this first book didn‘t disappoint.
Book 190 of the year.
I honestly don't know how to rate this one. It was wild from start to finish. I can't tell if I loved every second or if I found it absolutely ridiculous. Maybe it's a little bit of both. It was definitely fun. I also plan to continue reading the series, so I must have enjoyed it.
5/5🌟 - I recently started this series (currently reading vol 5) and it is so adorable! The Forger family is so cute together and I can‘t wait for them all to realize they love each other and are the perfect family. I am devouring this series and I am already dreading the hang over that hits when I catch up to the current volume.
Book no.8
What an amazing , fun,and action filled first volume!
Right from the first few pages I was intrigued by Twilight, loved Anya's spirit and fell for Yor.
Endo went straight into the story with little fuss but in a great and fun way of letting the action depict more of who they are through facial expressions and body language.
Loved this first volume a lot and I can't wait to jump into the next one!
I‘m a huge fan of the show so there was little chance going in that I wouldn‘t love this. And what‘s not to love? A spy needs to marry & have a child for his next mission—perhaps the most dangerous, important yet. And so he does, little knowing that the child he picks is a telepath, the woman he marries is an assassin. Yep, a secret mission, a marriage/family of convenience, & three people hiding important secrets from each other. So fun!!!
I started watching the anime and had to pick up the manga! These stories just feel like a warm hug and a great pick-me-up.
This was a great deal of fun! No wonder there was such a long holds list for it at the library. Looking forward to Vol. 2!
Finished my first manga, and it won‘t be my last. Confession: In the beginning it was weird to read a book the wrong way, but I got used to it
This vol‘s about a spy that‘s told that he need to infiltrate a prestigious school. So he has to adopt a child, and it turns out she can read minds. When the school want to interview both parents, he needs to find a wife as well. She turns out to be an assassin.
Welcome to my #Manga era. 😅 I‘ve resisted for years, decades, really. Because, I knew it would be such an expensive hobby. But I just couldn‘t resist any longer. 📚 I‘ve already picked up several series or parts of series. And they are giving me all the joy! I read the first three #SpyXFamily volumes and it‘s just so cute! 🥰 I feel like graphic novels and manga are a great way to switch up my reading pace and help me to avoid the dreaded #Slump
Hilarious, adorable, a heartwarming sort of ridiculous, with a fair amount of violence and heteronormativity mixed in. Now to see how long that hold list at the library is for the second volume! 😩
Ah, yes, teaching family values, like thrift! 🤦🏼♂️
Very cute. Manga is a good exercise for my brain. Lol I turned the page the wrong way a couple of times.
This was my first ever manga and it was hilarious and well written. Twilight is a spy whose latest mission is to find a fake family to help him infiltrate a school. What he doesn't know is that the child he adopted is a telepath and his new wife is an assassin. He finds it increasingly difficult to balance his mission and his new family.
This was my #doublespin for Feb @TheAromaofBooks
Adding to my #SeriesLove2023 list @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
Awe this one was fun. I loved little Anya. Another one I can now understand it‘s popularity. Fast with great characters.
Welcome to Hour 15 of the #ReverseReadathon! How‘s everybody doing? I took my stack outside for a little while, but after weeks of heat we‘ve got a relatively cold day today (21°C and cloudy) and I got too shivery! Back inside I go.
A spy thriller where each of the three main characters must not only hide who they really are from the world, but also from each other as they pretend to be a family. The tension of not wanting to be found out plays nicely with the characters desire to be known and understood by someone. A wonderful beginning. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Promised a friend I‘d check this out, and figured there‘s no time like the present. Reading right-to-left is a bit challenging though.
Excited to read this one! I have an extreme book hangover from reading “Credence” and I think this will help 🤓
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My first five star read for the year! This was cute and adorable in the most action-packed way!
Currently reading this series and have up to book 5!
Spy X Family is hilarious, and has bad ass fighting. I wonder how things will go when everyone has a secret 🤫
I loved this. It was a quick read with a clever storyline, and it was fun - literally laugh out loud funny. This was absolutely what I needed right now and I already broke my no-spending challenge on day 1 because I had to have the rest. Of course, they are sold out everywhere, so I grabbed Vol 2 on Kindle and will see how that works. I may grab the others on there, too, while I wait for physical copies.
Thanks to @Matilda and her Book Riot Unusual Suspects newsletter, I learned that spy manga exists. Y‘all know I can‘t resist a good spy story and I like how manga works my brain since it‘s read right to left. I have other things I should be reading. If you need me, I‘ll be on my deck reading this…

P.S. If you like mysteries/crime/thrillers - Jamie‘s newsletter is awesome and you should totally subscribe. 😍
I was SO very wrong about manga not being for me and now I‘m obsessed.
Booktok whispered to me that I needed to read this one - and the fact that volume one was hard to find just made it all the more exciting when it finally arrived!
(The rest of the sentence is:) “...maintains its thin veneer of peace.” My husband started reading this manga series first, and then recommended them to me. I just read the first. The man is a spy and must have a family for a mission, but they turn out to have their own secret identities. His new daughter is a telepath and his new wife is an assassin. I love that they all need each other in very different ways and are clearly not what they seem.
My first #manga 🙌 After getting accustomed to reading from right to left, I had a blast with every moment of this endearing spy comedy. Highly recommend!
