Given my Bookspin Bingo setup and situation, this is the best choice for me to start with, and it‘s perfect. Visiting the Met for a full day has been on my Bucket List and I plan on making that happen this year. Eager to learn from this book.

I love doing this! I am thankful to have learned about it! Being intentional about what I read right now is so needed!
Interestingly, this list has changed on more than one level this time. For one, it‘s not pretty or complete regarding authors, etc. I am ridding myself of wasting time (as recommended in my last read)!

Happy Reading in the New Year, Book Friends!

The book is described as being one that can help in dealing with death issues. The part I liked about it was learning his approach & viewpoints as an experienced psychotherapist like me. I was thrilled to be introduced to a colleague with my same viewpoints.I think he failed in his goal of helping with death anxiety. There‘s a focus on the content of his therapy sessions, not applicable to this subject, and his advocacy for his approach. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved this book so much on different levels for different reasons, one being the love between a mother and a son (I have two who are grown with their own families). It should be especially meaningful to those continuing to grieve the loss for someone they have loved deeply and feel their continuing presence. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

KT1432 I haven‘t read anything by him since maybe high school. I need to check this out! 3w
AshleyHoss820 I haven‘t read this one, but I did read The Five People You Meet in Heaven. I was really worried it was going to be one of those emotionally manipulative stories, but it wasn‘t. He has a way of writing that is insightful and emotional, but not preachy or insincere. I‘ve been thinking of grabbing this one too! P.S. I love the little statue. It looks sad, but also comforting. ☺️ (edited) 3w
DrSabrinaMoldenReads @AshleyHoss820 You have to read the sequel to “The Five People You Meet in Heaven”. It will blow your mind. In fact, it‘s best to read that again and then read the sequel. Amazing! Changed my views on things 3w

Helen faces 2 life-changing events at once:sudden death of her father & lifelong dream of training a goshawk. Her emotional struggles were like my own after losing my father suddenly‘, making this book very special to me. Wished she had stuck with her story (not on to White‘s failure at falconry.)The rawness of grief and the strange ways we try to heal hit home. A perfect read for a nature lover and/or someone with unresolved losses. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Highly recommended for those who resonate with this. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I feel some kinda way about disliking this book that is so well-liked. I missed something. Not sure what it was. It was way up there on the New York Times Best Books of the Century (something like that). My Brilliant Friend was #1.

Ruthiella I know what you mean. While I loved this quartet, there are other books/series where I just don‘t get what other readers get from it. On the bright side, you can skip any further Ferrante titles and reduce the TBR a tad. 😉 2mo

Finished this last book in the Quartet but it was a challenge. In a lot of ways, I could not make it all make sense, asking myself, What is the point? This book focused on Elena‘s life & not on the toxic relationship between her and Lila. Her life was horrid and she was the most confused and conflicted character I‘ve known. What‘s intriguing though is that it‘s probably the author‘s life story. The character has her posthumous name. Poor thing!

How Lenu feels is exactly how I feel reading this book. Ferrante‘s feat may be in creating a character who continually makes the worst choices and decisions a woman can make in managing her life and relationships.

This is the 3rd book in the Neapolitan Quartet, about the toxic relationship between Lila and Elena. I found it to be almost unbearable to read, having to engage with such flawed characters. I steadily grew in my dislike of them due to the regressions in their identities and morality. By the end, I was as so emotional that I cried. Positively this may show the author‘s ability to stir feelings if that was her point.
