I know this fandom has so many Nesta haters vs. Nesta apologists but I am just a fan. I think she is easily the most fleshed out character in the series and I love a protagonist that is genuinely flawed. (Feyre was next to perfect which is not relatable) Her redemption arc is so well handled and the spice is hot. and CASSIAN 🥰🥰 WHAT A MALE

Bookish_Gal I adore Cassian so I am very excited to start this book. 5mo

A really fun read, with a great twist. I found that I really appreciated the historical context, which is surprising for me because i usually steer clear of historical fiction. Anyway, I was afraid it was overhyped, but it's definitely not!

Turn of the Key | Ruth Ware

Back after so long!! Finally getting back into reading after months without 😅 Crazy since you'd think lockdown would've had me reading more but nope! So much going on - I graduated college!!! 🥳 Starting grad school in the Spring and made a promise to myself to read more and retrain my brain away from my phone and back to my books!! So excited to be back hopefully 2022 will be better weather for us all.

Librarybelle Congratulations and welcome back! 2y

Read this for a gender class wanting to know more about how women are coerced into beauty practices everyday that hurt us... but this author is transphobic. For a lesbian, she has no empathy for the oppression of anyone different from her. As Audre Lorde said, "There is no hierarchy of oppressions" When trans women are hurt, all women are hurt. When anyone in the LGBT community is oppressed, we are all oppressed. Wildly offensive. Don't read.

"what need have we of repose when our minds and bodies continue to delight in activity? of consolation, when we have soma?" Finally finished ! I freaking love this book. Its so Bentham/John Stuart Mill-esque utilitarian it's scary. I couldn't find one likable character in the whole book, but the philosophy and the moral lessons kept me going. One of my new faves ! ?

A Nearly Normal Family | Mattias Edvardsson

Found this super hard to start and get into bc I thought I just didn't like the authors writing style, but it has 3 POVs and I realized it was just for that particular character and by the end I was shook. So good. Several plot twists and you never really know whats going down lol🤷‍♀️

AHHHHH as of my last book, I have officially finished 100 books!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I know it's not a lot compared to some people on here but between my heavy school schedule and job and finding the motivation to prioritize reading, I'm really proud of myself. Here's to many more! Number 101 will be a nearly normal family from my #BOTM ✨✨✨🎉💛

Birdsong28 You have done better than I have the past couple of years! As last year I read 86 and the year before 91 so don't put yourself down so 100 books in half a year is excellent!! I wish I could do it. 😘📚📖 5y
paramegan @Birdsong28 thank you !!! 5y

A Clockwork Orange | Anthony Burgess
Mehso-so

Ended up liking this book by the end, I feel there was a good lesson to be learned and an interesting plot line. I know the defining feature of the book is the nadsat language but I think that's why I found it so hard to get into. The big reason I give it a so so is because it took me SO long to read and that rarely happens to me because I was so bored in the middle. Still, glad I finished 😬

Been on hiatus a while because it is taking me FOREVER to finish this book. I cannot for the life of me get into it. I figured out the nadsat language pretty quick but I just don't care about the characters or storyline so idk if I'll enjoy it much. A few good quotes are sticking with me though. Fingers crossed I finish soon 🤞

rretzler The first time I started it, I also couldn‘t get into it. I waited 15 years or so, and when I tried again, found that I really enjoyed it. It‘s not for everyone granted. 5y
paramegan @rretzler I'm gonna make myself finish it just to be sure lol and probably watch the movie just so I know what all the hype is about 5y

Can't believe this is the first time I've read this book... I don't even have words to describe how this made me feel. Scared, paranoid, enlightened, none of these are enough. I feel like I've learned a lot but almost wish I haven't.. but I guess that's the point - ignorance is bliss and "Ignorance is Strength"

You ever read a book but feel like you're not even close to finished with it? That's how I'm feeling now. Gotta read some HG Wells next!

1984 | George Orwell

"In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality, was tacitly denied by their philosophy" Reading this and handmaids tale today makes them a lot scarier.. also everyone should listen to 2+2=5 by Radiohead :)

"It had been easy to do nothing, say nothing. And once the moment passed, she couldn't come forward later. That was the thing about lies: they demanded commitment." This book is all over the place and so so good!! I suspect everyone and am sure of nothing. #botm

officially done! This book was a slow start for me and i was unsure about it but around halfway through i couldn't put it down! Let me tell you I almost always guess the endings and twists for books like these but this one totally got me ! I haven't read a thriller mystery as good as this one since gone girl. Onto the next #BOTM i got in march lol

*not a spoiler don't worry!* this book is uncomfortable to read, but so good. There's some gross stuff that made me concerned the author was some creep, but it turns out he is actually pretty woke. I love creepy books and anything about murder (watching criminal minds has changed me) and i can't stop reading this one. Should finish tonight☺️

Godislove The black marker was photoshopped. Taking a picture of the book then “marking” the book doesn‘t mean you read the book. (edited) 5y
Godislove @paramegan you don‘t know what hate is. Though i admit i am pretty blunt in my feedback, my apologies. But too many are cheating through learning instead of comprehension. With the time and truth of the universe showing itself knowledge with out concept is pointless. 5y
